@@EmpressReacts You should react to Love Bizarre from the movie KrushGroove by Sheila E. Sheila and Prince were REALLY close even up to his death. They almost married each other. She has a Prince logo on her forearm . To me she is the GOAT of drummers.
Sheila E was already a very established percussionist, and her father Pete was one of the most famous percussionists, but Prince did produce this song and her album. She's an amazing drummer and percussionist.
@@EmpressReacts I was lucky enough to see Prince on the legendary Sign O' The Times tour in '87. She was his drummer on that tour, and I've seen few better in nearly four decades of gig-going. She does a great rap on It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, which can be heard on the album, although sadly, in the live setting you couldn't hear a word she was saying!
I love this song. One of the few songs I can play on the keyboard 🤣. She said girl wore her mink even in the summertime😂🤣😂. Sheila E is a percussionist extraordinaire and comes from a family of musicians.

She came to my hometown of Flint MI a few years back and played an outdoor concert. Everyone I knew was excited about it. It was such a huge thing for someone as famous as she is to come here, since we are considered by many to be one of the worst cities in America.

Sheila E. was not only beautiful, but she was bad ass on those drums. So few female musicians ever play drums... it’s something typically associated with men... that they immediately stand out. Side note: Madonna played drums when she was in The Breakfast Club and Karen Carpenter was also a drummer. As a drummer and performer, I always felt Sheila E. was the perfect counterpart to Prince’s androgynous sexuality. She was a beautiful woman wearing a suit and playing a “male” instrument to his slinky and sensuous handling of the guitar and somewhat feminine attire and presentation. So it wasn’t just a simple male/female gender dynamic- it was a much more complex and interesting male/female vs. female/male yin and yang sexual vibe.

Prince obviously helped put this project together, and her next, but Sheila Escovedo was already a highly sought after percussionist on MANY other artists albums from the mid-70's on. She's still doin' it. Known in the industry as the "Queen of Percussion".
