Sampoorna Ramayanam (Tamil: சம்பூர்ண இராமாயணம்) is a 1958 Tamil Mythology film directed by K. Somu. It is based on the Valmiki's Ramayanam. The film features Sivaji Ganesan and N. T. Rama Rao in lead roles. The film, produced by M. A. Venu, had musical score by K. V. Mahadevan and was released on 14 April 1958. V. Srinivasan lent voice to N. T. Rama Rao in Tamil

Only the legend T.K Bagavathi's action as Ravanan for this song can do justice to C.S.Jeyaraman's singing. I watch this song again and again just to see the changes in T.K Bagavathi's facial expressions for the words being sung. 'Man magal mugam kanden...' the voice of CSJ seems to be about to break, but it doesn't. Our hearts break though.
Undoubtedly , this song is the MASTERPIECE of C S Jeyaraman in his career , in terms of the voice , emotions that he brings out superbly , and the modulations he makes with extreme ease . Great rendering by CSJ . I herad this song after many many years recently , and feel like playing the song everyday at least once . What a nice composition by KVM Hats off to all of them .

what a sad song... well pictured on what depressed mental state Ravana is in. you can never expect such creativity in any other film industry of North where it would be a taboo to show Ravana as human. How worse the tamil industry has become since - all we have now is vijay, vikram , suriya , etc who draw millions in salary but could not even act one percent of this actor who was a well known personality but not a major star.

A nuanced portrayal of Ravana, a pious and brave warrior imploring the lord on why he's been reduced to this state; humiliated to the point where he's been sent back and asked to "come back the next day", in spite of all his penances, and devotion to god . @@anushanarahari2227 This song is from the Tamil film "Sampoorna Ramayanam" released in late 50s .Ramachandra prabu disarms Ravana in the battle field and being the embodiment of great virtues and values and to upkeep the uththa dharma refrains from continuing the war with the enemy who has been deprived of his weaponry .He asks Ravana to get back and return the next day to continue the war.HE has not humiliated Ravana but yet the latter a great Shivabakth appeals to the LORD his anguish.He says why he has been put to this state of disgrace by a "manushya",Ravana's pride does not accept RAMA as God's incarnation at that moment.He sings that he won the entire cosmos and yet could not bear this defeat.He sings that with his musical worship he has appeased LORD SHIVA who bestowed boons.

The control at a high pitch, essentially in the Operatic Tenor range, makes him a rare singer. He takes off at around 2:07 or so. MKT and TR Mahalingam had similar abilities, but CSJ could have basically sung without a mike, due to the shaareeram (weight) of delivery. It shows up in his handling of both nishaadams in the ragam on his way into the next octave. Of the modern day singers SPB has similar capabilities; I am not trying to rank order or compare them. Just some general thoughts...
like the analysis and observation though i don't know anything about music i can say its a vast field. Difficult to conquer. But with dedication (absent in the present generation) desire, practice and encouragement from peers and others one can achieve what one wants to achieve.
