one of my favorite rat area's is when you are escaping gilneas at the end of the starting zone through the tunnel and there are hundreds of rats that scatter
Rats, rats, we are the rats Celebrating yet another birthday bash Michael, its your birthday today Cake and ice-cream are on its way And Michael's been such a good boy this year Open up your gifts while we all cheer
The questline at #1 is also a reference to the tale of the Pied Piper, a guy who lived in medieval Hameln, Germany; he was said to be hired by the town to catch all the plagued rats with his captivating flute music, but after the town refused to pay him, he kidnapped all the town's children and took them away.
There's an interesting video on Simon Whistler's channel _Into the Shadows,_ discussing whether this tale is true and if it might have an even more sinister background.
Used to have a pet rat named Lucky. We originally bought him as live food for our snake, but the snake refused to eat him, and would cuddle with him and they lived together for like a week. So, we got him out of the aquarium and kept him as a pet. Lucky was one of, if not the smartest pet, I ever had. And he was so sweet, liked to cuddle and everything. They make amazing pets.
I had 3 rats, Peanut, Butter and Cookie. They lived a full 3 years and Peanut actually underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her side and she lived another year after that. I love rats.
An ex had a pet rat and I got hooked. Had about a dozen over the course of 10 years. Miss them horribly, can still hear them sitting on my shoulder, grooming me and bruxing.
In a Master's class for an education degree, there was a program we did called Sniffy the Rat where you worked with a rat to get it to do things for you. After getting to the end of the program, I was given a lab-rescue rat and we called him Sniffy. He was the sweetest white rat.
Fancy rats are amazing pets. When I worked at a pet store I'd always try to tell people about how great they were and usually people would be grossed out by them. So sad.
I was expecting Dig Rat to make the list, the rat iconically used by rogues because he was *deployable* and could then be shadowstepped to in order to bypass areas. I think it was famously used in Naxxramas to teleport up to one of the pipes. It was so iconic that in Legion they added Dig Rat as a battle pet to the Rogue order hall!
Another place you can pick rats, is in Zul'drak. There is a quest, a sub quest of "Pa Troll", where you need to feed 5 rats to a Basilisk, until it grows larger and you can harvest its scales. You need to pick the rats that roam around in the flooded area, and you have to use them from your bag.
I love rats and think they are adorable. 50% of my youtube recommendations on the front page are rat or other rodent videos. I'm not allowed pets at my apt where I live, so I just binge watch rat videos on youtube instead. Rattos are very smart and just want to love, cuddle and have some noms. Be nice to my cheese bois.
As someone who 6 months ago took a free online 20 minute course in Rat Tickling, and am now a certified Rat Tickler (without experience), I approve of this episode.
I made sure I got all 3 of the rat mounts. I'll assume that in future months, one will return to the trading post if not both (Sniffy and Sarge iirc are their names). They are just adorable.
There is a second place you can pick up rats: there’s a quest in Zul”Drak where you put basilisks to sleep by throwing five rats at it, after which you can loot the quest item.
Another great episode! In addition to the deep run tram rats another set of rats that hold a lot of nostalgia for me are the Dig Rats in and around the basin at Bael Modan in the Barrens - got to love that Dig rat stew. Another fun rat fact for you - some rats are / have been trained as mine / bomb detecting rats for work in Cambodia - one of the most famous of which was called Magawa, and he detected over 100 landmines over his 5 year career.
You should have mentioned that the Deeprun Rats inflicted heavy casualties on the Gnomes during the construction of Deeprun Tram. It was a hard fought campaign to build it and truly cemented the Gnomes as strong allies to the Alliance.
You missed half of recipe rat. He also appears in Zaralek Caverns and you get another recipe which has you make cheese to feed to rats to get Roland the rat as a pet.
One of my favorite rats in WoW are the dig rats located around Bael Modan in the southern barrens. Specifically because killing them gives you rat meat that you can create dig rat stew from. For whatever reason, I would farm these rats day after day creating more and more dig rat stew. Even when I got to higher levels and they were way worse compared to other food options I could just buy from a vendor, I'd still head back the barrens for some easy cheap food.
That video was a rat idea. Especially the rat facts at the beginning were ratical. I really liked the ratcipe rat, looked like a swell rat with that little rat-chef hat.
These videos made me realise how much variety and attention to detail this game has, artists actually had to make soooooo many 3d models and structures and animate some of them, and name them, if someone went to recreate just the npc models they would spend years and years and years and would never catch up
I have fond memories of leveling my wand skills on the rats in the Ironforge Deeprun Tram terminal back in Vanilla. Did it on 4-5 wand using characters.
I've been binging pointless top ten vids recently while playing the war within, and when I passed a rat in game, I was wondering if this list existed. Thank you Crendor for your tireless coverage of this game, and all the pointless treasures inside it lmao.
I would also like to add the Dig Rats in the Bael Modan dig site in Southern Barrens one of the few rats you can knock unconscious and carry around in your bags. And they go great in stew!
I worked at a petshop and I was at a seminar and the conferencier actually said rats are the best small pet for kids. More robbust than a hamster, doesn't sleep all day and are pretty intelligent. I had one when I was young and it was basically just like a small dog. Incredible personality.
An interesting thing about the Deeprun Rats is that the item you're tasked to deliver to Nipsy is called "Carton of Mystery Meat", establishing what animal WoW's Mystery Meat comes from.
My thesis advisor did behavior research with rats. They LOVED Nilla wafers, she used that as a reward. The rats would refuse to eat the off brand, only the name brand for them. She also said they were almost as intelligent as her dog. Maybe smarter.
My favourite quest line is for Horde in Dragonblight, where you get a container of rats and then have to kill the humans and feed the rats the corpse, great animation when that happens. If you never turn in the quest you can reset it over and over again for your enjoyment.
This is one of the first I've had a strong opinion on going in. I thought "Man, Deeprun rats better be on here or... I don't know. I'll be slightly disappointed I guess."
Hearing you taking about "wierd faces in objects" made me think of anither top, "top 10 penis rocks", rating the various penis shaped rock formations within wow
Honorable mention--the Dwarven District Giant Rat. No clue what he comes from. He's just there, and if you fight him at lower levels, he'll kick your ass.
I am totally here for this pro rat propaganda! I had several as pets, I miss them so much and would love to have a pair again. Easily the most underrated pet imo
I also love rats, and I think you're missing a couple awesome ones! The Skrats in Tazavesh are adorable and I love them for their unique designs, and there's a rare one you gotta work to get! And also, the Dig Rat that rogues used to use!
Little late but surprised the Giant Sewer Rat in Stormwind isn't here. Random rat that scales to your level, is really tanky for some reason, and also doesn't heal if you drop combat. If you pull it out from under the cart it's chilling under (death grip for example), it doesn't fight back it just runs back under the cart.
actually got one of those ninja turtles for the mini pet battle thing forgot how exactly they spawn but they get 2 ninja swords so they pretty cool wanted to name mine Half Shell Hero but wouldnt let me :(
If you actually did the random faces in things (or are still planning to do it), I hope you put on the list the smiley faces on the end of logs that can be found in at least Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
one of my favorite rat area's is when you are escaping gilneas at the end of the starting zone through the tunnel and there are hundreds of rats that scatter
Yes I remember when I was too young too read the quest, I just tried to run trough it, but then the rats killed me!
@@salamanderperson415 I remember doing the same thing with the same result lol.
Or when you open the door to Jandice's catacombs and the rats flee
Shame you didn't add the rats in the Karazhan dungeon from Legion, where we literally shrink to their level in order to ride them during combat.
They aren't useless :'(
My favorite world of Warcraft rat is Mitch Jones
Rat Jones
LMAO
Mratch Jones
Bag jones
The law
Rats, rats, we are the rats
Celebrating yet another birthday bash
Michael, its your birthday today
Cake and ice-cream are on its way
And Michael's been such a good boy this year
Open up your gifts while we all cheer
Raaaatssssss~ Raaaaaatsssss~ We're the Ratsssss~

The snake wasn't hungry and was saving it for later:)
Gross
I had 3 rats, Peanut, Butter and Cookie. They lived a full 3 years and Peanut actually underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her side and she lived another year after that. I love rats.

Was expecting the rats in Mulgore in the critter war
Yer a critter war
lol squirrels with army helmets and weapns never gets old
My favorite Warcraft rats are the ones that built a nest in Asmongold’s hair and bed. All hail the attic goblin king
Crazy how such a person had people throw piles of money at him to the point that he has... millions now?
What a world.
Fancy rats are amazing pets. When I worked at a pet store I'd always try to tell people about how great they were and usually people would be grossed out by them. So sad.
thank you showcasing rattos! i've had and loved rats for a long time. truly overly hated animals when they're so sweet and chill. ;-;
Crendor youve uploaded more these past few months than the past few years. Keep it up.
I was expecting Dig Rat to make the list, the rat iconically used by rogues because he was *deployable* and could then be shadowstepped to in order to bypass areas. You can also pick up a rat in Return to Karazhan and use it as a mount later on in the same dungeon!
As someone who 6 months ago took a free online 20 minute course in Rat Tickling, and am now a certified Rat Tickler (without experience), I approve of this episode.
finally someone who also appreciates the glorious ratstallion. i love him
It is definitely the greatest mount name
I made sure I got all 3 of the rat mounts. I'll assume that in future months, one will return to the trading post if not both (Sniffy and Sarge iirc are their names). They are just adorable.
Surprised the Rat of Unusual Size wasn't on this list. I remember going to Castle Nathria and seeing those. Really cool Princess Bride reference.
There is no such thing.
There is in fact such a thing. I remember seeing it myself and I looked it up to be sure.
There is a second place you can pick up rats: there’s a quest in Zul”Drak where you put basilisks to sleep by throwing five rats at it, after which you can loot the quest item.
My cat started trying to swat my monitor IMMEDIATELY when the first rat showed up. Thanks for entertaining both of us :)
Another great episode! In addition to the deep run tram rats another set of rats that hold a lot of nostalgia for me are the Dig Rats in and around the basin at Bael Modan in the Barrens - got to love that Dig rat stew.

This is the kind of UA-cam content I live for.
I used to use the deeprun rats to get my weapon skill up after learning a new one 😊
Best top 10 so far. Never realised how many special rats there are in the game. The developers must really love them.
Ratstallion is my favorite. Next to Bruce

Dig rat goes down in my book as being the only critter back in the first few expansions to drop loot.
The story about the rat in the USSR is super funny to me because that means in the heart of Communism a rat and some dude were practicing Capitalism.
Sadly Dig Rat did not make the list 💔
These videos made me realise how much variety and attention to detail this game has, artists actually had to make soooooo many 3d models and structures and animate some of them, and name them, if someone went to recreate just the npc models they would spend years and years and years and would never catch up
A deeprun rat killed my character once. Dealing 1 damage every attack while I were afk.

The rat tram quest brings so much memories back
My thesis advisor did behavior research with rats. They LOVED Nilla wafers, she used that as a reward. The rats would refuse to eat the off brand, only the name brand for them. She also said they were almost as intelligent as her dog. Maybe smarter.
When you're doing the "faces in things" video, don't forget about the face in the clamshell in Deeprun Tram.
The rat I remember the most is the giant stormwind rat.
My favourite quest line is for Horde in Dragonblight, where you get a container of rats and then have to kill the humans and feed the rats the corpse, great animation when that happens. If you never turn in the quest you can reset it over and over again for your enjoyment.
Rats. Rats. We're the rats!
Truly The Best Top 10 In Your Entire Series!!!
This is one of the first I've had a strong opinion on going in. I thought "Man, Deeprun rats better be on here or... I don't know. I'll be slightly disappointed I guess."
Good video Crendor, keep up the good work.
Completely agree with deeprun and rats... youd think magic would keep them out? Magic rat traps
Rats were just trying to bathe and groom the poor plague-ridden humans, but everyone was like "vamos ya sally varmit!"
Rat-in-a-Bubble reminds me of the rat from the 1989 movie "Abyss".
I loved the rat facts at the beginning!
Yesssss, love rats and love your covering them! Wish I could enjoy WoW just so I can ride a giant rat!
Wowcrendor's uploads are like grandma's cooking. I get a rush of nostalgia whenever I see the thumbnail in my feed!
Ok who in general chat did !ratfacts, you set off Crendor, now the raid leader wants to wait on the pull until we get all the facts...
Much like how the Soviet story had rats finding money, perhaps Rexxar's rat name, Keepers, is a play on to the idea of finders keepers.
I used to have rats and I love them! been waiting for this video!
Fast rat best rat.
Deeprun tram rats would also be my #1. I farmed thousands of them when guild achievements came out.
That white rat next to the old AH in SW. Man I've killed that one alot.
There's rat in Stormwind city going around Trade District and making it's way into Trias' Cheese shop after some time
Hearing you taking about "wierd faces in objects" made me think of anither top, "top 10 penis rocks", rating the various penis shaped rock formations within wow
I tend to avoid rats, they make me go crazy.
My hunter ate quite a few rat kabobs back in the day. Remember that quest very well.
Akin to the 4 turtles, you can do a Pointless top 10 Pop culture references
Honorable mention--the Dwarven District Giant Rat. No clue what he comes from. He's just there, and if you fight him at lower levels, he'll kick your ass.
Another blessing from Crendor!
Honorable mention to the Dig Rats in Bael Modan.
1:15 Sonic the Rat
Easily my favorite top ten videos of all time!
Also, Mawrats! Love those li'l dudes!
the rats from the dig site in the barrens that a quest to cook them.
Deeprun Tram rats were the easiest way to level new weapon skills back in the day haha. Seemed that the more you killed, the more that spawned.
The number #1 where on my mind from the start on the video, good pick 👍🏻
LOVE YOU CRENDOR
2:07 Those rats must be on the white powder
3:48 Geodude with jacked arms lol
It is time for top 10 oozes, and top 10 NPCs in oozes.
Youre on a roll with these crendor, ty for the pointless content!
There is a crocodile mount! Bruce is a crocodile from the brawlers guild and is a saddled version of a crocodile
Deeprat tram confirmed
I love the bigass rat in Stormwind
4:37 Shadow resistant huh? So if a Shadow preist with the mount glyph in Shadowform rides him, he won't be all shadowy?
Little late but surprised the Giant Sewer Rat in Stormwind isn't here. Random rat that scales to your level, is really tanky for some reason, and also doesn't heal if you drop combat. If you pull it out from under the cart it's chilling under (death grip for example), it doesn't fight back it just runs back under the cart.
Dig rat
Rats do make the best pets, the only downside is that they only live 2-3 years unless you get a special, bigger breed of rat.
Number 1 is probably also a reference to the German Legend "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". :p
actually got one of those ninja turtles for the mini pet battle thing forgot how exactly they spawn but they get 2 ninja swords so they pretty cool wanted to name mine Half Shell Hero but wouldnt let me :(
5:10 imagine they made a croc mount but used the gronnling skeleton
Justice for Roland the Recipe Rat! #1 in our hearts.
Hmm I'm gonna have to now try tamming a rat as hunter
I feared that with your Top 10 Pointless Top 10s, you might've said goodbye to the whole concept. Little did I know we didn't even hit its peak yet.
The rat in the bubble has his nose outside the bubble so he too breaths under water.
Rats, Rats, Everywhere!
This truly was a list
My favourite wow rat is that one smelly dwarf hunter in the deeprun tram
If you actually did the random faces in things (or are still planning to do it), I hope you put on the list the smiley faces on the end of logs that can be found in at least Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
Damn, just checked - I have the kitty kitty achi done 11/8/11... Missing these times
Love your ratings, man! Next time, plz, make "Top 10 WoW ingame shirts"!
Rats. Rats in a rubber room.
I love rats so I'm extremely happy to watch this video!
