The Unfortunate Part is that now you have to pay 20 € for your drone registrations as a natural person as per the new rule Document below for the same www.lba.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/B/B5_UAS/230124_Geb%C3%BChrenschl%C3%BCssel_B5.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=7
Hi Sankalp,
Thanks for the video. Just wanted to know if we will get our license number as soon as we register or it will take some days/weeks?
@@prabalbhatia469 it will take some time actually; around a week or less. But you will not get as soon as you register. That is something which happened with me. If you encounter something different please drop a comment here so that other people can know.
@Chasing Whereabouts thanks! But is it possible to fly if we have registered and haven't gotten our registration number?
@@prabalbhatia469 legally no; illegally yes. The rule is to stick it on the drone and then fly like you saw it on the drone in the video.
Basically don’t fly your drone in Germany, it’s huge headache, I bought my drone last year and flew it few seconds, police was called on me and case filed against me!
Luckily since I am an EU citizen nothing really happened and the charges were dropped against me, this was a huge headache.
why? were you flying somewhere you were not supposed to?
@@kshitijpatil4793 I would say please use the droneiq application to find the places where you can fly legally.
I flew drone in Munich and had my encounter with Police as well but since I was flying with the rules they just said sorry and left.
They told me that now I have some story to tell to people on youtube lol.
Aparently the place where I was flying was not allowed but in the application it was marked as flying zone.
It was Germany's application and not the DJI internal application so that was reason to go free without any trouble.
@@ChasingWhereabouts if the Droniq app says I am okay to fly. Do people make a big deal of it?
Loved the audio quality and explanation.
Glad; thanks for appreciating bhai ☺️
Very beautiful cinematic video 👍
Thanks for appreciating it.
Wow!! Looks ESPECTACULAR!! ❤ thank you for sharing!! Big like 5👍
Thank you so much for appreciating
Sehr gut erklären, vielen dank!
Danke Schön
Very informative video, Sankalp. Thank you for sharing. I am in Hamburg and use Air2s, if you have explored this region, can you please suggest some places to capture some cool aerial shots?
Hi Sandeep, thanks for liking the video. Unfortunately, I still have to visit Hamburg. But did you check on DRONIQ if you could fly around Speicherstadt, HafenCity, Elbphilharmonie, Alster Lakes?
Awesome video ❤😊
Thanks for watching mate!
Hi Sankalp. I'm from India and here in Berlin for 2 months only. Please suggest insurance providers and type of insurances for Dji Mini 4pro. I checked with Coverdrone and AXA Deutschland, but unfortunately they sell policies to EU domicile only.
Hi Sorry for replying late, up till now i have not been able to find any insurance which would offer people who coming from India. Since all the insurance needs an EU domicile.
@@ChasingWhereaboutsthen how did you use you drone in the eu since you are from india
@@WilfsBlox Hi I live here in Germany so I have residence permit from Germany. For people coming from India I have yet not found any liability insurance which covers drone flight yet.
If you find any then make sure to share in comment.

Great info,

Thats great thanks
glad I could help.
Great video.
Thanks for appreciating ☺️
I got my drone last week now I don't find any place in Hamburg to fly it 😔.
As long as you're not close to a military/hospital/airport/government Institute, you can fly it if the police doesn't catchs you 😂
@@JoelSebas there are always Oma sitting around and calls police 😅
this is really the worst thing.
Hi bro,
Thanks for the information
I just want to know that in step 2 which option should I select while registration of drone, Natural person - Wohnsitz Deutschland or natural person - came from outside EU?
As I am student in Germany. Living here from last 10 months. I have valid documents.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Aditya, pick the option of residing in Germany because you can use your residence permit as the document for registering.
Your video is very informative. Thank you! I just want to ask, how long did it take before you receive your UAS-Betrieber-Nummer?
I think it took me around a week to get the number when I applied for that.
I am planning to get a drone, but not sure which one should i buy.. which drone do you use and the whats the price.?
I would suggest you go for the DJI Mavic Mini any of the models which you can because that would be the easiest one to get approval in most places. Currently, I think Mavic Mini 4 is the latest one I am using Mavic Mini only.

Good information.. Does LBA offer drone exam in English...
If you check the training exam it is present in both German and English. So yes the exam should be present in English as well. But just to double sure you can send an email to uas@lba.de
Which responsibility insurance do you use? Is there any general purpose insurance which covers drones or the drone related insurance need to be purchased separately?
Hi, you can take the Getsafe insurance along with the drone rider for this situation
@@ChasingWhereabouts Very informative video.
I registered via Switzerland and have the UAS operator num, A1/A3 certificate.
my concern is regarding the insurance for those who are not EU residents.
Indian insurance companies do not provide third party liability insurance for drones.
And EU Insurance providers require a local address.
Is there a workaround to this issue.
@@Pulkit1224 Hi Pulkit, thanks for asking and yes this is one problem because I am still researching and have not found an insurance provider which gives Liability Insurance for drones for non-EU Residents. I found the liability insurance company for India but that covers only within India and not outside. We do have some US based company but that is also for US residents. I will keep you posted if I find something new.
Do i also need to register my mini 3 before flying outside? Its under 250 and is it mandatory to get a insurance for this drone?
Yes, you have to do that.
Very well explained. Is it possible to print operator ID in DM? Because it should be very small and laminated/waterproof.
Hi, I think I have not checked that in DM . The cheapest I could find in Amazon is for around 3 €.
I asked one of my colleague to print it. He had the sticker printer 😅
Hi! Thank you for the very informative video! 2 questions from my side:
1. I already registered my drone in Belgium and have my UAS registration code on my drone and I have insurance. In that case, I don't have to take any of the actions you described in the first 5 minutes of the video, right? Or do I still need to register on the LBA website?
2. Do you know if any major change in the regulation between now and the time the video was made, about a year ago?
Thank you so much, have a good night!
Hello Yes you are right nothing needs to be done about the first part and the LBA website. You can use the Droniq application directly for finding out the places you can fly.
And yes the new changes are like this that if you drone doesn't have the class labeling present on it then there is no CLASS 2 categorization for it, It will be either Class 1 - Less than 250gm or Class 3 starting 2024.
So please check if your drone as the class marking on it.
It it is there then ignore and if not then you have to follow the rules for flying for CLASS 3 in general.
If you have Mavic Mini then ignore.
@@ChasingWhereabouts I have bought a DJI mini 3 pro in november 2022 and registered as UAS pilot in december 2022. In case you could advise me if I need to make any changes or take any actions, that would be very nice. Thank you!
@@Rubinho101 If it is a mini pro then no worries because it is less than 250 gm so the rules are the same.
If you are still curious, I think you can see the class label on your drone because in 2022 they were coming out.
Check on the backside of the drone and Class would be printed there,
Thanks so much for the feedback!
Could you please explain the procedure for payment and how to skip payment in case we have a mini 3 pro?
The sad part is that with the new rule out you have to pay the fees for registration that is what I am able to collect with the new document, I have pinned int he comment.
Where's the link for the payment registration? Thank you
@@lance47489 You can register using the link here uas-registration.lba-openuav.de/#/registration/uasOperator
Hi. Please correct me if I am wrong. As how I understood it, you need A1/A3 license to fly a drone even it weighs less than 250g as long as it has camera on it.
No you dont need a license. You just have to register as a drone operator if you want to fly a drone which is less than 250g
@@ChasingWhereabouts ok I found it. It is not required accordingly but it’s recommended.
@@markruruecho perfect.
which free app to use for flying drone potenšić atom se?
For Germany I am using official application ‘Droneiq App’
Great video. What about DJI mini 3 or mini 3 pro? Both are less than 250 gms.
The sad part is that with the new rule out you have to pay the fees for registration that is what I am able to collect with the new document, I have pinned int he comment.
Hey lovely video! Do you know if i need liability insurance if i fly rc airplane under 250 gram, without any fpv or camera (practically a toy). Also any relaxations regarding locations where i can fly? Currently i am residing in Dortmund.
Thanks!
Hi, Thanks for the comment, If you are flying in the park then it is not a problem; I think you still need liability insurance. Also for the relaxation as long as you don't get over the accepted height limit it is okay. But yes the location still matters, I mean you can not do it near the airport and helipad areas or hospitals.
@@ChasingWhereabouts Hey thanks for replying!. This is helpful thanks.
Even for DJI mini 3, insurance is mandatory ???
Yes it is, for flying any drone in Germany it is mandatory if it has a camera.
But green on the Droniq app means prohibited right?
Green doesn’t means prohibited it means allowed
İs tehere any comprehensive commercial dronepilot course in germany?
You can check on this one if they offer something : www.dronelicense.eu/?ref=o2TKyr9CaeKvT2
Hi Sankalp nice video, I am living in Berlin and you mentioned I cannot fly in Berlin, is that true ?
I was not able to find a region which is fly zone normally but you can specifically find a way around but not in the center please check on droniq and see if you get and flyzone and do let me know in the comment below so other travelers can also learn
hello Sankalp, I'm considering getting liability insurance for my drone and was wondering where you got yours. Could you please share where you purchased it (I'm also in Munich right now and want to get it when I am here). and please share a few information like coverage, the scope of the region (only for Germany or does it cover other eu countries),
hi, I take the getsafe insurance which works just fine, and add the drone rider to the normal base liability insurance. You can check this out.
@@ChasingWhereabouts thank you
@ChasingWhereabouts Can you recommend any liability insurance companies? As a traveller from India, I don’t think any German companies insure travellers.
there is nothing which I could find yet when you are traveling from India.
in short, its very hard to find a legal take off spot in germany, especially if you are in or around cities
True that. In city, it is really difficult to find that if we go with the rules. Which ideally we want to do that because of the fine.
@@ChasingWhereabouts or go into sport mode and finish a shot or video within a few minutes 😂 but like honestly, all the good places are legally illegal to fly without permission, sad
@@kenl2527 true that, the only thing that is free for flying are the parks which is really tricky because you end up shooting the grass only. I did found some loopholes in the map back in 2020 when I was in Munich and ended up capturing the Bavarian Government Official building spent some time with the police there and was just saved because I was flying with rule and the map showed that it was a flying zone. It was an experience.
Is hauptlichvischescherung means liability insurance? So i need to have hauptlich first prior to registration? Ty
Yes when you do the registration and filling the form, they ask you to enter the details for the liability insurance as well.
Great video! 🙌🏽
How long does will it take to get the Id once I start the registration? Will I get it immediately?
Hi, it takes around a week to get the Id. Thanks for appreciating the video.
thank you. that's too bad, I ordered a drone today which will get delivered on Wednesday, hoping to fly it on Friday :D @@ChasingWhereabouts

Hello! Thank you so much for the information. Do you know any insurance company that provides liability insurance for non-eu citizens. I am just a new comer as a master student and want to have a drone.
This is really a problem because up till now I have not been able to identify any insurance company that offers insurance to non-eu citizen. You have some for US citizens but nothing for other places. It would be great if you are able to find anything then drop a comment here.
Can we carry a drone from germany to india or else in flights without registering it in Germany?
You can carry from Germany to India but there are rules in India for bringing a drone you need to get the approval for that. You can search on google and find that out. But it is not as easy as just buying and bringing there. If you are caught they will cease it.
What part of Germany are ypu in I'm in heidelberg and I would live to do a colab video and pick your brain on how to fly here in germany
Hi thanks for your question I live near to Frankfurt.
Awesome! thank you, do you know if I need a liability insurance that is specfic for drones?
Yes it is must have for flying drone in Germany
At 4:24 you exposed your full ID number. I suggest you to contact authorities and get a new one, as I bet there will be some cowboys flying their drone with your ID number. Or even worse, someone might pretend to be injured or fake property damage by drone which had your ID number.
Yeah, thanks for this, I have just submitted the new request and got this one cancelled. :D
