My sister had Lewy Body Dementia! She had round the clock caregivers in her house in Ridgefield. Her last 3 years, were at The Residence in Darien. She died peacefully in her sleep, on Jan 27, 2021. I salute the medical staff, including Hospice, who took such great care of my sister. God bless all of u. I also want to thank all the caregivers who came to my sisters house in Ridgefield. God bless!

The people that work with these poor souls are absolutely amazing, it takes a special human being to even consider helping those that have succumbed to this horrible disease. There is a special place in heaven for these workers i'm sure. And i know because i lost my father and my uncle to this horrid disease, and if things go by nature then myself also,

If the caregivers of these people don't go to heaven then, is there a heaven?? I'll always believe there is.

It's so painful watching my mother decline and now Dad at 94 is simply slowing down with more health issues appearing. My only sister is two hours away and is of no help. In the next year they'll both be on the nursing home with Mom in dementia care.

My grandfather just passed from dementia Sept 23 2021, the last time I saw him healthy was almost 3 years ago..... when I said good bye to him he was in a palliative state, the stage process in dementia is awful, my grandfather's hallucinations were horrible, when I saw him he was hardly breathing.... it was hard. May god rest his soul and all other souls lost to this horrible disease

I am hoping to learn as much as possible to help my mother-in-law with her Parkinsons Dementia. It is progressing and each day brings more and more challenges! Any advice or help? Thank you! She is at home and we want to keep it that way as long as we can...

My mom loves to kiss ppl hand and she is in the moderate stage. Caregiving is the hardest job, physically and emotionally, in the world. Dementia kills you and the little time it gives you with your loved ones, it rips their memories and behavior apart. Although your loved ones are alive, you start to talk about them in the past. The one who cared for you and protected you, now are your child and the table flips. I hope they found a cure for this terrible disease.

My 94 year old mother is now in a care home after living alone for the last32 years since dad died. She was admitted in August this year after a fall inJune and 3 weeks in hospital with a small spinal fracture. Mother was stubborn, in denial of her stage 4 Alzheimers and refused all help offered. She went through 3 sets of carers, insisting she didn’t need them and could look after herself. We involved many local Agencies and interventions before mother finally succumbed to her present surroundings. She still wants to come home but we and her care home staff, tell her that she needs to be looked after and is much safer where she is. Her beloved bungalow is now up for sale to pay for her astronomical weekly care home fees.

There's only like a 7% chance of getting Alzheimer's, and if you stay mentally active and fluid then your odds are even better.
Best things you can do for your brain:
      Stimulate it
Engage it with puzzles or other types of challenges
      Communicate with others
Be fully present in the moment
Try new things (this one is very important)
Change up your routine, even in the smallest of ways!
      Listen to lots of music
Keep a journal of some kind. Go back and read your old entries every now and then
Make sure your diet is complete! The brain loves amino acids

Its a pretty low chance to get this irl as you grow older, luckily, non of my relatives that I know died with dementia, they can be forgetful but its normal compared to these.
