There's something so relaxing about this video lol. I use Honda Polish but noting gets everything nearly as good as good Ole soap and water. the Honda Polish I use is for touch ups in between washes.
Thank you :) I am a part time professional detailer so I do know a thing or two about proper washing techniques, as much as motorcycles, detailing is another one of my hobbies :) I wish I could talk more about paint correction etc, and I may, but it would be out of the scope for this channel! * thinking about it, maybe I will make a video specifically for motorcycles :)
Haha I think we would be friends then! I also detail on the side and use a PC 7424. I keep my evo flawless, but the speed triple is black and we all know how black is to maintain, plus I have no idea how much clear coat triumph used on that thing. So correcting on my bike isn't my top priority. I know what you mean though, most motorcyclist aren't as OCD about paint as long as the bike is running haha. Whereas for me, that shit haunts me in my dreams
Wow brotha, it looks cold. I can see the "cold breath" in the video when you are brushing (cleaning) the front brakes. Thank you for the tips how to wash my motorcycle. I wasn't sure if I could spray soap completely over the bike but I see it doesn't hurt at all and i actually a must! Thanks again bro...awesome Ducati!
Yes you can wash your bike with a shampoo weekly if you like, but there would be no need to reapply the wax weekly. Depending on wax or sealant you use, you have 2-6 months of protection. Now if your washing your car every week, make sure to keep your chain lubed frequently.
I haven't washed a bike with anything but a light spray cleaner (Meguire's EZ clean) and a microfiber cloth, or a plastic razor and a citrus cleaner for the really stuck on stuff. I haven't put water on a bike in over 10 years, and if I do end up in a rain situation, I take the wheels off and clean the hubs and use chain cleaner and apply fresh lube to both the axles and the chain/sprockets. But maybe I'm a bit too obsessive, idk.
Nice to see someone show how to safely wash a bike. There are plenty of videos where they use a brush on the wheels and that same brush on the paint. Can only imagine how swirled up their paint will be!
Great video. Excellent quality, and a very nice bike too. It's nice to watch a bike video with none of the gratuitous strong language and other nonsense that detracts from the video. I'll be watching more of your work.
Hey Truly Zambian! Thanks for becoming part of the channel and glad to have you on board. Really great to hear that you like the content and looking forward for you to watch more future videos :)
+mmdirtyworkz Yes you do if your at the point where you already need too. If you lubed it recently no need to do it again even after you washed your bike, because remember your avoiding your chain area from degreasers etc
Hey great videos first off.. I have a full carbon fiber zx10r and was wondering if you could do a video on how to apply the best protective coating type for a motorcycle like ceramic coating or whatever
Great "how to" video! I ride year round and live in Ohio so I'm riding in rain, some snow and sometimes a mix of road salt and chemicals. I'm not interested in "best" appearance during the winter, but I am interested in knowing your thoughts about the best way to wash and prevent corrosion when the weather isn't great. I'm also wondering what you think the best way to remove light corrosion is? I have very small amounts of corrosion on the brake rotors, on the exhaust and the rear sprocket. Thanks for any ideas your have!
I know this is a very late reply, but I highly recommend ACF-50 or similar products to anyone who reads this and thinks about how to prevent corrosion. You can apply them in a mist (cover the brakes and wheels first!) and you will get excellent protection against salt and other corrosive agents. Some people don't even bother to wash the bike and just apply ACF-50 (or again some other product) and their bikes are rust-free...
actualy,i have no time to comment, i have a lot of the things to do, i have to wash my bike, clean my house, wash the dishes do the loundry and a little bit of exercise. im sorry i cant comment today, but i realy realy like the video, i will gradualy fallow Those steps. 😂😂😂😂 no comment
Nice video! Subscribed! Awesome bike too. I prefer washing my BMW s1000rr and r6. A lot of people do waterless wash to prevent water from getting to the electronics. Is a pressure washer safe to use?
Thank you and welcome to the family :) Yes as long as your not one that point stream and close, I usually use the 45 degree fan and dont aim directly at any electronics
Hey Mimo thanks for the compliments and thanks for coming on the channel! The wax used here is a carnuba based wax you can find at most department stores, Meguiars Gold Class Wax
Awesome channel I just subscribed! You have some really good videos & Tips. What would you recommend to wash the Arctic White Silk 899 Panigale? It's more of a matte finish. You can't really apply wax on it correct? Thanks!
On the matte finish panigale you have to use a specific wax. Chemical Guys has lots of matte finish specific products you can use :-) congratulations on the 899 panigale, I miss mine so much :( WELCOME TO THR CHANNEL 👌
Hey Zetetic Raider! Thanks for the compliments I really am glad you are enjoying the content and you find some of it useful :) Glad to have you on the channel and welcome to the little growing community we have here!
Just curious as what air blower you were using. Looking to get one myself without breaking the bank. I like the paint brush idea, makes getting those hard spots a little easier.
hi CanadianRider!! I loved your 899 btw.. this really helped me cuz I want to wash my bike.. btw do you have any suggestion on cleaning burned rubber after you do burnouts? will they took off easy? thanks and ride to california sometimes! :)
Still looking for a definitive guide on this. Everyone does it differently. What about electronics? what do you cover? Many videos say to clean/ lube the chain before washing? WHY? Wont water wash away any lube? Handle bar switches are not waterproof. I know motorcycles are made for rain, but ever take one apart that has some mileage? Dust and dirt gets in there and adding water created mud or more buildup over time. You can never get it all out. Power washing can force water into exposed connectors, causing electrical shorts as well as expedite corrosion or rust...etc. I can go on and on. I like this video, but my brain thinks there has to be a better way to keep a bike clean and preserve its longevity. I liked this video, but as I look to doing my first ever wash on my new (110 miles) motorcycle (my first bike ever), I'm looking for clear and concise answers.
I'm watching this video to learn how to properly wash my first and new bike. It makes me kind of unease to start pouring water over my bike I can't stop thinking about rust and stuff.
Don't worry about that. These bikes are all designed with rain in mind so you can put your fears to rest :-) just make sure when using a pressure washer do not go on 0° points and point it at any of your electronics
It's generally not considered a good idea to use a pressure washer on bikes. At least not a powerful one. They have been known to break seals and get water into the electronics and places you really don't want water. Apart from that, the safety aspect and separating what brushes you use is a good mention. Had I not watched this I likely would've made that mistake by just trying to wring them out each time😅
Not sure if you will respond to this because its a pretty old video but i thought it was worth a try. I just got my first bike and i wanted to ask if there are areas of the bike that i should be avoiding from getting wet or washing?
Hey Nasir welcome to the channel man! I would recommend making sure if it's an older bike you be careful around the wiring or any exposed wiring and for any bike around the chain especially if it has just been lubed. most new modern bikes you don't need to worry about too much anything important will be covered and sealed from water. General rule don't point a pressure washer to close to anything
Good video, just a little hesitant on putting rim cleaner on a tire. I thought rim cleaners were very caustic and can easily damage or leave the tire surface with not as much traction
Hello there, great video and straight to the point! I got a question for you cause I recently got a Monster 1200s and it's my first bike with advance electronics and a chain drive.. Do you lubricate the chain everytime you wash the bike? And is there any areas to cover prevent water from damaging anything? Thanks
So with the Monster 1200s, you will want to make sure you dint point the pressure washer tip close and directly to the electrical components. Water is fine as a slow soft stream on this components or a pressure wash from a distance. I personally DON'T lubricate after every wash, though some people do. If you are doing a deep clean wash then yes, afterwords go ahead. I tend to lubricate per factory recommendations. No areas need to be covered, these motorcycles were designed to be protected from the rain
I currently use a ultrasonic device which can read depth over various materials (carbon fiber, plastic etc) they are a bit pricey (1000+) but worth it imho. do some digging, finding a deal shouldn't be too hard.
Nice video. I do have one question. Do you not need to lube the chain after a wash like that or did you do it and it was not in the video? I am a new rider and just want to know as I don't mess up my chain.
When you're washing your motorcycle just be cognizant not to specifically try to scrub down your chain and spray it down with chemicals removing the lube. I would say you don't need to re lube your chain after a wash, but if it's already dry go ahead.

Hey brother, I did the same thing when I first got into it. At least you care enough to research :)! Welcome to the channel :)!
I thought that right away he's in his garage then I got jealous because it was that clean in the garage. OCD for sure.
I am the king of OCD you are correct :-)
I just washed it, and started watching tutorials for some tricks!
Why does it suck? You have to learn at sometime if your a responsible owner that cares about your bike.
This video is so relaxing. Is it weird that I watched this video every night since it was uploaded?
Not weird at all :)
It feels good to see a good motorcycle being treated so well

+mmdirtyworkz Yes you do if your at the point where you already need too. If you lubed it recently no need to do it again even after you washed your bike, because remember your avoiding your chain area from degreasers etc
Soap is a degreaser, no? I would relube it after the bike is dried.
Just be mindful of the chain during your wash and it wont need a relub unless you already needed one to begin with :)
just buy some Lucas oil chain lube spray can! it's great for chain lubricant touching up
Absolutely beautiful bike bro. Wow. 😮👍🏻👍🏻
1:32, I'm not wasting my time cleaning the rubber, that kind of sounds stupid to clean them..!

it is good to at least scrub the side of the rubber where the chain is since chain lube and other things may have been sprayed there
It also helps to check for blemishes on the tyres,(nails, screws or anything that can puncture) and only takes a few more minutes.

Can you polish the fairings? I've noticed my fairings are starting to get swirly marks, where do I go to get a bike polished lol.
yes you can :) I have a video on how exactly you can polish your fairings :)
What do you recommend for bikes that have swirl marks? Any product recommendations?
Depending on how bad the swirls are; Meguiars Ultimate Polish or Meguiars Ultimate Compound for deeper swirls and scratches.
