Something else to avoid would be wash the car directly in the sun (especially in summer !). It should be washed in a shady place, to avoid those sun-dried water stains on the bodywork.
@@xdinferedtm7291 Try to wash it around sunset, when the sun has gone down, and not maybe right at noon when the sun is beating down directly on the car. ;)
I’m like yeah yeah I know all this. Then I realise I don’t clean my equipment nearly as thoroughly as you, so that’s a great tip. All about never using a fully dry microfibre. Cheers for the post.
Not only do I inspect my MF towels for debris, but when washing I separate my towels further into 3 categories: (A) Used for Body (generally cleanest), (B) Lower Panel/Undercarriage/Bumpers (second dirtiest), and (C) Tires (Dirtiest). The first two groups can be “safely’ washed together as long as a do a thorough pre-rinse of group (B). Group (C) will always be pre-rinsed and always washed separately, and oftentimes I only reuse Group C only a few times since tire towels gets so caked on with tar/oil, may not even be worth the effort. I will oftentimes take older towels in Group A-B and retire them to C. And that’s my towel management system.
@@MMV.Detailers Not every maintenance wash, but yes. I use either an APC (with some degreasing properties) and/or an iron remover (like Iron-X) about every 3-6 months. But I do use a two different wheel brushes EVERY wash with soap and water though.
I use a microfiber to dry my car and because I'm lazy I just wipe down all windows first, that gets the microfiber wet enough and doesn't scratch the paint.
Hose between the legs tip (if you'll pardon the double entendre!) - that's a great one. Thanks for sharing your experience/tips. It is truly fantastic to see someone take so much pride in their work. Cheers from Adelaide / Australia
Another useful tip. Use the 2 bucket wash technique to wash your car. One with soapy water and the other to rinse your microfiber glove after using same on the car.
2 bucket is not needed just use foam then rinse with pressure washer, then do contact wash with 5 chenille mitts. Literally no reason to have any buckets.
True story..this happened years ago. We had a guy come into our body shop wondering if we could buff out his car. When I went out to take a look I was stupefied how bad it looked. I asked him what happened. He said he had waxed his whole car but it started raining so he thought he’d finish later. Needless to say his paint was destroyed. Never wash/wax your car in direct sunlight and work in small areas before you move onto the next.
5:03 Yes, that's typical at the gas station. Not only as a matter of dirt, but even more to avoid scratches on the body when the hose slides over the paint. If you are not careful when vacuuming, you quickly have scratches on the body. I always try to hold the hose up with one hand so that it doesn't touch the bodywork.
Cool tip for water spots: use “Owner’s Pride Eco Wash” for car washing as it is a water softener and will not harden on the vehicles paint. I also use only a cap full for a 5 gallon bucket, I just replaced my first 16oz bottle of it after 6 months of professional detailing.
where I live has pretty hard water, would using this to wash my car help my problem? I'm holding off on washing it trying to figure a solution that is time efficient and effective so if and or when I move on to other vehicles I will have the right process. Thanks in advance.
All great tips. I use a leaf blower to dry the car. Don’t use one that you use for your yard. If I use detail spray, I use a brand new microfiber cloth every time and only use back and forth wiping, nothing circular.
Keeping that vaccum pipe between legs is really of matter. I noticed that while snowing and all the snow with salt gets into your car plus scratches . That really helps keeping that pipe between legs specially is it is from an outside gas station aspirator
Great tips as usual Tino! i use 2 mitts per car,one for the bottom one for the top but for most banged up daily drivers i get i dont use the 2 bucket method since im going to polish the car after :D
@🇲🇦Hello Everyone Depends on the colour. If it’s a dark coloured car like black it’s better to use a water purify as you may get spots when it dries. If it’s light coloured then your method is fine.
@@TinoCarCare Another good tip is to have two buckets for cleaning. One bucket has the cleaning solution and the second has only water and nothing else. When the cleaning cloth becomes saturated with the dirt that you're cleaning off the car you simply rinse it in the bucket that contains only water thus the dirt and cleaning solution in the cloth will be removed from the cloth and deposited in the bucket with straight water rather than the bucket with the cleaning solution. Then squeeze the water from the cloth and re-apply the cleaning solution to the cloth and continue. This way your bucket with the cleaning solution will not be as contaminated by the dirt you're removing from the car. This method works really well for any cleaning job that requires the removal of a lot of dirt and contamination.
I had a muscled, 71 Mercury Cougar decades ago. This when Armor All was only in one version, the original, press-down spray bottle. I used it on everything in the car (vinyl seats.) I could choose where you sat in the back bench seat with a turn of the wheel. (No, we didn't wear seatbelts then...)
Tino is the goat bruh. bout to ship my 2016 Camry over to London and get the detailing done right. If that shiii doesn't come back looking like a Ferrari ima be pissed innit chaps?
It's reassuring to know those are all things I already do, when washing my car. I also swap out my microfibre cloths when they're no longer soft and fluffy feeling.
Another YT detailing "expert" recommends you put the vacuum hose over your shoulder to prevent it from touching the body. I think it helps, but the hose slips off, and you need a longer hose.
Didn’t know about the microfiber tip I agree without lubrication is cause swirl marks I noticed that but didn’t know what to do love this if you can make a video on how to wash a brand new car and avoid touching all together ( if that’s possible ) that would be great for I plan on buying a new Cullinan and want nothing to touch it ever !
Spent over 1k for a detail and it came out worse than when I detailed it myself. I think I'll just detail it myself from now on. Wish I could hire tino to detail my car 😢
I couldn't figure out why those water spots kept appearing on my car after hosing it down. It only seemed tp be appearing in some spots and I assumed something was wrong with the water, since the water was foaming white for some reason when it touched the surface. I would then just use a paper towel or rag to wipe it off, then squeegee the windows. Thanks for setting me straight on that.
Here is another tip: Always first test your pressure washer gun pointed AWAY from the car. Sometimes you didn't put the nozzle on correctly and it goes straight for the car, chipping paint!
people dry buff after they apply a wax too I get customers who have swirls from detailers dry wiping too much after they put on wax or sealant.. you even see pros doing it in their UA-cam videos. once the residue is lifted.. please stop buffing. you will create love marks the more you buff to a shine
I purchased a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek Limited in Canada and I paid additional 6000 dollars to put paint protecting film all over the vehicle + front and rear lights and external mirrors.
Hello Tino Great video once again and ive ordered your exterior detailer to use for the 2023 show season, ive a Mk1 Focus RS (nothing in the calibre league of cars you clean) but its our show car and is back on the road on May next year for the car shows. Looking forward to using your detailer when then RS is on the show stand 😎
If you did drop the wash mitt and you only owned 1 or only owned 2, what would be your strategy? Woiuld pressure washing it off thorougly work, or would you need a proper wash?
Before throwing it away I would recommend giving it a good pressure wash, if that doesn't work, then a machine wash. If you still think its time to get rid of it then you can use it for dirtier parts of the car, such as the engine bay or even dirty things around the garage/home

do you use degreaser/ wheel cleaner with a rough bristle brush for the wheels first?
