    Thank you so much for showing me that the connectors could be removed. I was wondering why they would put them over the mounting holes. It doesn’t say they can be removed in the instructions.

    Been trying to figure out how I’m going to add a sub and amp to my 2013 CTS for days. I think I’m sold on the LC2i. The GTO with remote out is a nice addition I wasn’t aware of. Hopefully the 30hz cutoff isn’t an issue. Still trying to decide where to pull the signal from as well.

    Warning for all the bassheads or audiophiles wanting to use this device, it has a non disclosed built in subsonic filter that cuts All frequencies below 30hz. Other than that it's a great product but if your listening content has frequencies below 30hz the lc2i will cut them out and it will drive you insane trying to figure out why your not getting the low lows. I listen to bass boosted music and sometimes watch movies which both have sub bass below 30hz. If you're already having this problem, call them and make them fix it, the specs say it will produce 10-20khz and it Does Not. They have great customer service, I called them out for the subsonic filter and they sent me another lc2i that would play down to 25hz. Audio Control you need to change your specs or make the units play down to 10hz as specified.

      I know for the Audiocontrol Epic Center is the same way comes from the factory and wont play below I believe 32 or 34hz. In order to make it get low like "back in the day"., Nowadays you have to buy what we call in the hood a _DB Chip_ the pro term is Crossover PFM Module.. Its really easy to install. Simply unscrew the back plate pop out the old chip insert the new one. Plus Its only $17 with shipping. It now gets as low as 15hz not down to 10hz but Im happy with it. What I'm unsure about is, is if the same chip mod can be done to the LC2i ?

    • @4jr909
      @4jr909 6 років тому

      yes i noticed it does not hit the lows i been wanting. i thought it was the stock head unit but now it makes sense. you’re saying that if i call customer service they will swap it for one that does hit low hz?

      Markus B, For the lc2i there isn't a user changeable chip like the epicenter. It' has a micro chip that has to be programmed by them.

    I am having problems with car audio system installation. I have a 2015 Dodge Journey R/T. It has a stock Premium Alpine Audio System. 6 speakers 1 subwoofer. I have an AudioControl LC2i LOC tapped into the stock subwoofer. I have the GTO in the bypass position, as I am using a toggle switch to turn everything on and off manually. Tuning the LC2i is fairly straightforward. Your UA-cam videos helped with that. My issue is with tuning my amplifier and subwoofers. I have an Alpine MRV-M1200 Monoblock Amplifier powering 2 Alpine DVC 2 ohm + 2 ohm SWS12D2 Subwoofers (trying to power anyway) wired in series parallel to 2 ohm final impedance. Correct me if I'm wrong on the wiring terminology. The RCA wiring is driving me crazy. When hooking them up I barley get any bass. Even after adjusting the Gain and Bass EQ. When only one RCA is hooked up I get better sound. Do I need both RCA's hooked up. I also noticed in your video you only had the one RCA hooked up when demonstrating the tuning process. I also don't know anything about the Low Pass Filter or where it should be set at. Thanks for your time

      @conquerirlemonde8432 6 років тому

      I had a few issues like yours that’s why I’m gone help ya, it took me about 6 months of playing with it to understand...first I just found out the low pass filter needs to be set at about 80 to 100 hertz, why, cause if it’s just connected to your woofers, your just playing the low lows, you don’t need any higher cause then your just straining your woofers to play higher hertZ than the woofer was intended for or needs. Like voices etc.. the phase you need to put at zero cause from what I understand, unless your woofers are hitting off balance with each other or the car speakers, you don’t need it, you just want the puches...

    • @conquerirlemonde8432
      @conquerirlemonde8432 6 років тому

      You need a multi meter to set up the gains on you lc2i. if you don’t have acces to an SMD, or you could do it by ear but that’s just playing it. when you say 2 rca’s , by two rca’s you mean both sides of the unit? One set of rca is for high’s, the other is for lows. If your just using it for your woofers you just need to connect one set of rca’s on the lo pass filter side, the right and left. On the bass output R & L , if your R and L are failing the might be something wrong with your amp or you didn’t connect or tap the speaker wire that goes into the lc2i correctly.
      Make sure your accuabass threshold isn’t all the way up to where it doesn’t turn, turn it up all the way then down just a little bit, I noticed it picks up the bass roll better if it’s not complete turned up.
      If your using the lc2i for just bass and woofers, the MAIN knob is useless set that zero.
      On the speaker inputs make sure you connected the right and left positive and negative on both, it’s better than just one. Connect all four positive and negatives , right speaker and left speaker ... hope it helps.

    What if I’m only wanting to add a Subwoofer? I want to leave the stock door speakers alone and just add the Subwoofer. How would that work? Would I have to make a T splice with the door speaker wires and then only use the Sub output RCA?

    • @AudioControlCar
      @AudioControlCar  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, that's pretty much exactly how you'd do that. Just tie into an existing speaker lead for signal. The existing speaker will continue to work as normal, but the signal will pass into the LC2i and then out to your aftermarket amp/subwoofer.

  • @hiroshi138

    The GTO seems like a brilliant idea but what about power/memory to turn on the amp itself...isn't that still required when using the LC2i?

    • @ThomasRodriguez
      @ThomasRodriguez 3 роки тому

      You would still need to run power and ground for the amp, but remote turn on can just run a wire from the remote out of the remote wire on your amp. This is a huge plus.

    Does it matter if you tap the front, rear or factory sub speaker wires to feed this unit ? I have a bose factory system with a factory subwoofer that has a single wire with positive and negative. Can you run this unit off that wire alone and still run RCA cables to mono block amp successfully? Or should i tap the left&right front or rear speakers instead?

    Looking for an answer - installed LC2i to factory 2020 Malibu. Had issued with the GTO and the unit and amp not turning off. I bypassed the GTO feature with a dedicated remote turn on for the car. Everything works great and the LC2i and amp both turn off when the car is turned off......however, when the car/power is off the "maximized" led is now lit. The AudioControl site says "If the unit is working fine otherwise, but the maximized light stays on, typically that means there is an issue with grounding." My grounding seems secure and sound so does this mean my unit is "fine" or what else can I try? I don't see this specific issue anywhere else.

    So, can I simply run ONLY the 12v remote wire for power to the lc2i? Do I need the additional power and ground wires?
    I just want to run the remote in from my factory stereo, and then run the remote out to my amp...also, I am only running 1 mono channel amplifier to my subwoofers, do I just run the rear left and right speakers to the lc2i?

    Hi Mark, Love the video, very informative...
    My query comes from another video I watched recently stating it's better "NOT" to grab the sub signal from a stock sub speaker, to utilise the Signal Sensing circuitry "GTO" As the stock sub sometimes stops producing voltage due to lack of movement, which intern switches the amp off. Does this sound plausible to you, and/or have you ever come across this issue?
    I'll be using the LC2i in a 4 series bmw to add 1 amp and 1 sub box.

    • @Casper8x
      @Casper8x 6 років тому +1

      I have this device and i've experienced the issue you described. 2014 Lincoln MKZ pulling signal off the two factory 6x9 "subs". The bass will hit and a delay occurs, usually .5 to 1 second late. This also happens in a lull of the music without any bass i.e. a breakdown or solo etc. I think you are right, but make and model may come into play.
      With that said, i'm using the GTO feature but the LC2 isn't powering off during these events.

Its really open. I know Audio control makes a Great product and has great sound, but this being a Line in Converter I am wondering if I have to get a aftermarket Deck. Will this give it a Great Sub Sound that I would have from a after market Deck? Can you provide me with any Feed back please?

    • @AudioControlCar

      The sub will sound great. This is an active line output converter (powered with active circuitry). There is no signal loss and the preamp can drive your voltage up to 9.5 Vrms. Your amps will be happy and so will your ears. Many people are happy just adding a nice sub and amp with the LC2i (rather than trying to upgrade to an aftermarket head unit).

      Any speakers you tie into for signal will still function as usual. It will not take the signal away from the existing speakers, or anything like that. Just make sure when tapping in for signal, that you're T-ing into the signal, and not actually disconnecting the existing speakers.

      It really depends on your intended result and system design. The LC2i is a 2ch device, but it does have 4ch of output in case it's needed. If you are planning a multi channel system, the LC6i, LC7i, LC8i, LCQ-1, DQ-61, DM-608 or DM-810 might be better suited to your needs. You can check them all out here: www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/factory-system-upgrade/

    • @camaroboi13
      @camaroboi13 6 років тому

      No it will not, however, if your system is active i.e. your dash chimes and onstar go through your speakers, then amplifying them will make them incredibly loud. When your seatbelt is not on and you hear the chime, it will be VERY loud if being amplified off the front speakers. Typically it's the front driver's side where you'd hear the chime. If your rear speakers have a full range and aren't just mid range speakers, then I would use the signal from there instead. Hope this helps.

    • @pierregervais3442
      @pierregervais3442 6 років тому +1

      camaroboi13 thanks for the reply but my question probly isn't clear. I wanted to know if the input signal to the LC2i would be better if I tapped into my front speakers rather than my rears. I measured and turns out the rear door speakers get half the voltage as the front door speakers. There's no bass roll off on this vehicle and my accu bass knob is turned all the way down (threshold all the way up) so I'm sure the LC2i and my amp will be able to compensate for the reduced signal at the rear door speakers.

      All of our products can be used with amplified OEM signals. So you can interface after your OEM amplifier. Outputs from factory amp go into LC2i, then RCA outputs from LC2i go to your aftermarket amp's inputs.

    Great video but here is a trick question. I have condemned a factory sub and installed this unit however it then goes to my audio control epicenter and then to my amp. Performance is ok but after doing some research I realized that the concert series needs a full range input to function correctly. Now with that being said should I be using the base output or the full range output . Thanks

      You should piggyback off of the power / ground you had to do for the amplifier. Because the LOC and Amplifier are probably going to be located in the same part of the car so should be relatively easy.

      Typically there are no issues running an active LOC in current cars. Some amplifiers in current models will go into protect when the factory speakers are removed from a channel (rather than tapping into the signal). You can install resistors in this case or use our AC LGD: www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/accessories/ac-lgd/

      You CAN use the LC2i to install an amp for your subwoofer as well as an amp for your mids/highs, however, because it is a 2ch converter, you will lose the ability to fade front to rear. If that is important to you, the LC6i or LC7i would be a better fit for you.

      Not sure about that particular vehicle, but we have yet to run into a vehicle we couldn't use an LC2i with. No matter what type of factory sound system or amplifier it was equipped with, we are compatible. Because the LC2i is taking in speaker level signals, and can handle exceptionally high input voltage, there is no reason why you couldn't use an LC2i with your vehicle to add a subwoofer. @AudioControl I have seen this question asked a couple times and still no answer.
    If we have a factory sub and want to add an aftermarket sub, should we just use the factor sub leads for our high level input? If what channel do we plug them into on the LC2i?

    • @AudioControlCar
      @AudioControlCar  3 роки тому

      There is really no correct answer here, since every vehicle is different. However, let's take shot at it: If you do have an OEM subwoofer, you can certainly attempt to use those leads for your input to the LC2i. In that case, feed them into the front left high level input, but use a short length of wire so that the right input is also receiving signal. (basically a "jumper" from left + to right +, and a "jumper" from left - to right -. This will ensure that both L + R rca outputs produce sound. If your results from this method are undesirable, then try using a different signal source from the vehicle, such as front door speaker(s) or rear speaker(s). Hope this helps!

    • @conquerirlemonde8432
      @conquerirlemonde8432 6 років тому +1

      The signal it receives comes from the speaker wire, when you turn on the estéreo, lc2i senses the signal from the speaker wire and powers on, turn off the stereo it turns off... from there it has a gto, which is a remote in and out, you don’t need the in, cause it already powers on and off with the speaker wires. I use the remote out to my amp that way you don’t have to search for one in your vehicle and less wiring etc. If you leave you stereo of, it won’t suck juice from your battery.

    2019 Camry XSE - (non JBL) - so, I can use this to tie onto one of my existing speakers to get my full range signal, set up the LOC itself, then it send the appropriate signal to my amp. got it. questions: can i split the "main" to run the A/B channels, then obviously use the sub for the sub input on my 5 channel amp? also, i assume i would have to still run new wiring to each speaker from my amp right? Please forgive my ignorance, been out of the game for a LONG time...

    • @AudioControlCar
      @AudioControlCar  5 років тому

      Yes, this will allow you to grab signal from the existing system, feed the "main" output signal to the mid/hi section of your 5ch amp, as well as using the "bass" output to run signal into the subwoofer section of your 5ch.However, you would not have any FADER functionality. If you used our LC6i or LC7i, then you would maintain the ability to use your OEM radio's FADER. Also, you are correct, you will need to either run new cable to each speaker location, or obtain your speaker connections behind the radio.

      You can use a 4 channel/5 channel amp with the LC2i as long as you have a selectable inputs, IE the amp can take a 2 channel input. In that case you want to find out which speaker outputs have a full range signal because you'll be using the internal crossovers in the amp I assume. You don't need an EQ but that said each car is different and there will need to be some corrections made to the signal. In that case you would go Stock Stereo > LC2i > Epicenter > EQL > Multi-channel amp.

Now, I say "over paid" and "skirt question because I actually sell CARS on commision and am hearing the same stuff myself or my coworkers say.
      So basically according to Anthony Thomas, I can use the main instead of the LC7i but it will be a lot more technical and will depend on my amp. And even then it wont be as good as the LC7i, but yes it can work?

      The LC2i has 2 input channels and 4 outputs channels. The Main output channel is full range and the Bass output channel is low--passed at 1 kHz. You can use the LC2i to connect to a 4 channel amp as long as your source signal (from the factory system) is full range. You'll either split the main output to 4 channels with y-cables or switch the after market amp to 2 channel input mode (if available and by whatever name the amp manufacturer calls this feature). Hope this helps.
