These are such incredible drills to teach young lineman. So much has evolved since I was a kid playing in the 80’s & 90’s!! I love picking these demos apart and teaching them to my players
MrCaptainCrazy that’s how the OL game has been taught even the blocking tight ends and Full backs are still taught explode through contact with hat and shoulders at the lowest point
@@PhatomKevinplayz_ i play Oline too, you need to stay low off the snap because if you stand up you just get driven back. Also make sure to never stop driving your feet
Nah man. I am watching this on the bus ride home after losing to our biggest rivals in the State semifinals. One game away from a state championship. And I want to win so bad next year
I’m on the autism spectrum and that made playing football (as well as sports in general) very challenging for me. I was a lineman but only got little playing time on offense.
@@MAD-nx3er Not every school has great coaching. My line coaches in HS were skill position players growing up. Had to go to camps in the summer and utilize UA-cam to truly improve.
1. On a pass, wait for him to come to you. He’s trying to get behind you. So keep your base and move backwards as you need to however don’t open up your base because the main goal is keeping him outside the pocket. 2. On a run, make sure you’re stepping with your right foot first so you can get to him that much faster. Losing steps can be the difference between getting there and not.
@@PhatomKevinplayz_ since youre on the lighter side I'd say just make sure your low on runs which is what most coaches will tell you because momentum and leverage is how you beat the heavier players. On passes drop your butt when someones bull rushing you. The lower you drop it the harder it is for them to push you. Above all I'd say just footwork. Make sure to not waste steps because it is important to do your job on the play as quickly as possible. If your looking for extra work off the field using an agility ladder is great practice. and also if they have sleds at your field practice firing off on those. It's a great way to practice coming out of your stance in different directions. good luck and have a good season.
so i am a smaller fullback, i can hit hard and block alright and i can run the ball pretty efficiently on picking up needed yards. but heres my question, whenever i block the defensive end (when the runningback is running 39/38/37/36 and i have to get the defensive end and he rips how do i recover to stay with the block?
I’m a offensive tackle I and I struggle with the reach block on the defensive end, the play is going my direction so I have to get out side of the d- end and block him inwards but by the time I get there the play runs right into the me and the d-end , any tips?
Work on hook blocking you want to step hard into him and get ur helmet on the outside of him and force him into position(inward) what helps me is pushing with one hand and pulling with the other to turn his body.
The high school and collages teach a different way now! They don't sink their hips or kick that out side foot back any more instead they use both feet as shuffling backwards also on back of heels leaning forward pass blocking and the hand placement out side of shoulder pads on pass and run . That's the new way I don't like it but that's it! They do it in the NFL ALSO!

Omg whyyyyyy😫😫😫
Legend has it he's still kneeling to this day.
Its always, ALWAYS important to know this stuff as a D-Lineman so you know tricks the o-line uses, and find ways around em
and vice versa ;)
Wish I was coach this way. Back when I played there was alot of focus on "hat and hands". I would have a head ache after every full contact drill.

how about the Green Bay Packers with their "Hugging" technique for pass blocking?
Its crap. Its supposed to help with quick outside moves but its so weak of a technique.
I think that's holding
@@TheRealR-_- No not exactly. Think of it as smothering outside speed rush by eliminating them using their hands to get past you.

Most kids nowadays have NO IDEA of the resources available to them. I wish I’d had access to these tips when I played.

Garret Bolles needs this
Parker Smith yo garrett bolled struggles but he was a top 15 tackle
he struggled with penalties but he’s finally in a scheme that fits him
He stepped up this year became a top 5 tackle
Bruh I really needed this fr

Work on your speed so you can keep your body in front of the d end when he sheds your blocks. If you stay in front of him, he can't make the tackle.
The push pull is my favorite finisher 🙂
I fucking hate that as a right tackle 😂😂😂 d-line be push pulling the fuck outta be I gotta stop letting them get my chest. I gotta improve
thanks so much

Train on being more explosive toward your sides
always work on explosiveness off the line and quick feet, even o-lineman have to be pretty fast with these types of plays
Work on hook blocking you want to step hard into him and get ur helmet on the outside of him and force him into position(inward) what helps me is pushing with one hand and pulling with the other to turn his body.
