1) Imaginations from the other side 2) At the Edge of Time 3) Nightfall 4) Somewhere Far Beyond 5) A Night at the Opera 6) Tales from the Twilight World 7) A Twist in the Myth 8) Follow the Blind 9) Beyond the Red Mirror 10) Battalions of Fear Imaginations is without a doubt a perfect album, not a single bad song on the list. I think At the Edge of Time is very close to perfect actually, even the demo versions of the songs are great to listen to, but I just couldn't get into War of the Thrones. It's a similar story with Nightfall, loved everything except the interludes and Into the Storm.
Dude you would have loved their live performance at Hellfest last Saturday, they basically played the whole Somewhere Far Beyond album for its 30th birthday! It is available on Arte's UA-cam Channel
Love this list! Though I'd probably like any possible list, all the albums are pretty much likeable and quality does not differ much. Mine would be, for now anyway: 10 - Beyond the Red Mirror (only album I do not enjoy as much as others, still don't understand why probably the lyrics and production) 09 - Follow the Blind 08 - A Twist in the Myth 07 - Battalions of Fear 06 - Tales From the Twilight World 05 - At the Edge of Time 04 - A Night at the Opera 03 - Nightfall in Middle Earth 02 - Somewhere Far Beyond 01 - Imaginations From The Other Side (doubt my number 1 pick will change, so much sentimental value and nostalgia on top of awesomeness) Legacy of the Dark Lands seems interesting but not listened enough yet.
Sacred Worlds got me into Blind Guardian unknowingly, it is the title theme for the RPG Sacred 2: Fallen Angel which i played when i was like 9 years old and i loved it, a few years later i began listening to BG purposefully and i found Sacred Worlds again and from then onwards "yeah this is your favourite band from now on until forever."
A Twist in the Myth is a bit underrated by many, it's by no means a bad album at all - just some average-ish songs weighing it down, but it has some real classics. Otherland is in my top 10 BG songs. Oh - and it's got the best of all their album covers!
A Twist In The Myth has “The New Order” on it which is my third favorite Blind Guardian song, so it deserves major points for that alone. Also “Another Stranger Me” was the song that got me into the band in the first place so definitely some sentimental value right there.
Blind Guardian is my favorite power metal band and aside from Legacy of the Dark Lands, they have a flawless discography. Here would be my ranking: 11. Legacy of the Dark Lands 10. Hard list to make, but here it is. 1: Somewhere Far Beyond. Has an incredibly dark, forboding atmosphere with a light shining through that offers hope. Easily the most atmospheric of their albums. 2: Batallions of Fear. 3: Imaginations From the Other Side 4: Follow the Blind 5: Nightfall in Middle Earth. This is the album that got me into Blind Guardian, but I find it doesn't sit well for 'casual' listenings. 6: Tales From the Twilight World. 7: Beyond the Red Mirror 8: A Night at the Opera 9: A Twist in the Myth 10: At the Edge of Time
