PL is my all time favourite band. I so remember the first time I listened to Draconian Times with my friend back in 1996. We're 16 and it hit me in the right spot. Hooked ever since. It's been so fun to follow their journey over the years. Good list, thanks for the effort 👍🏼

I’ve only heard the first 4 albums plus The Plague Within but I really enjoy all of those. Gothic is an absolute Death-Doom masterpiece IMO. I think it’s about time I listen to some more of their stuff! Great video as always, thanks! 🤘🤘

I thought I saw you knocking about at Bloodstock last year! I'm pretty sure you were stood behind me during Skindred's set, pretty much at the front. Didn't say anything just incase it wasn't you. I was the only guy in that front row having the worst time of his life 🤣 You're right, Paradise Lost's set was phenomenal, Draconian Times is their best album hands down and it was definitely a highlight of my life gig-wise. I think you got the top 3 almost spot on tbh. All 3 are masterpieces, Obsidian genuinely blew me away with how good it was, if anything I'd actually swap Gothic with that at 2. Gutted I missed them on this tour, would love to have been in Leeds where they played it in full! 🤘🤘

I can't agree Questy, the gothic/electropop middle period is just pure crap, from One Second to Believe in Nothing is unlistenable to me. Here's my ranking from worst to best, but, after the bottom three I really love the rest so besides the bottom and top three most of the rest can change places. 16. Host - Should've been released under a different band name, not good, not Metal. 15. Believe in Nothing - see above, with shitty album cover. 14. One Second - At least the guitars are okay, don't like the songs, album cover is terrible. 13. Shades of God - I know, too low, but this album always felt too long and very one note, monotonous, but heavy. 12. Paradise Lost - Good return to form but songwriting lacks. 11. Symbol of Life - Still electronicky, but great production, more guitars and Great songs. 10. In Requiem - This is more like it, guitars, songs, production, all great. 9. Lost Paradise - Heavy as shit, but you can tell they're still maturing. 8. Faith Divides Us...- Great album, great songs, great production, love it. Also great album cover 7. Tragic Idol - Fantastic all around, Amazing album art. 6. Medusa - Awesome. Album cover is okay. 5. Obsidian - Fucking heavy, moody, great art. Love it. 4. Gothic - A true landmark, still some odd songwriting choices, but amazing production. 3. Draconian Times - Not as heavy, but songwriting & melodies are beautiful. Almost perfect. Art is also beautiful. 2. The Plague Within - The perfect example of true Doom/Death. Unstoppable as a 1000 ton tank. It only misses out on the top spot because of nostaligia because I first heard PL on... 1. Icon - Heavy, morose, beautiful, sorrowful, amazing production, amazing songs and performances, art matches up perfectly. Embers Fire is a perfect song. My all time favorite. Really hard to agree on this, since PL is such a peculiar band. My favorite PL albums, based on the quality of songwriting first (catchy, standout songs) and originality of arrangments second: 1- Icon (The best of the best) 2- Faith divides us (The return to glorious times) 3- The Plague within (The reafirmation of grandiosity) 4- Host (Yes! The songs here are just amazing) 5- Tragic Idol, Gothic, Shades of God (The first albums are classic and groundbreaking, but lack the maturity you see in the last releases) 6- Medusa (I love the raw and primal feeling of this) The rest are really hard to rank for me, all of them showing something good. And, sorry PL fans, but I think Draconian Times is overrated. There are 2 amazing songs there (Enchanted abd Forever failure), but the rest of the album is just a bunch of good gothic rock songs, not the really original, marvelous songs that make PL to stand out). Shades of God has a GREAT sound and some great tracks... But most of it is just ruined by some of the worst lead guitar I've ever heard. Idk what they were thinking...

Total cliche and lazy to pick Draconian Times as their best. Yes, its the most well known album and probably their biggest seller. But also their most middle of the road album. Even Gregor Macintosh called it their most middle of the road album. Anyway, opinions are opinions. They just have so much more in their catalog that is much more exciting than Draconian Times. Icon, Faith Divides us, In Requiem, The Plague within. Even Tragic Idol, Medusa, and Obsidian. All albums I easily reach for over Draconian. Not that Draconian isn't a great album in its own right, it is.
Disagree Gothic & Lost Paradise were made by an amateur band...Shades of God is outstanding...as perfect as Draconian times...Obsidian is a complete uninspired and bored album and Icon has a really bad drumming and some songs are unnecessary in the album...however Paradise Lost 2005 is a pretty good album regarding to sound and composition.

Really hard to agree on this, since PL is such a peculiar band. My favorite PL albums, based on the quality of songwriting first (catchy, standout songs) and originality of arrangments second:
1- Icon (The best of the best)
2- Faith divides us (The return to glorious times)
3- The Plague within (The reafirmation of grandiosity)
4- Host (Yes! The songs here are just amazing)
5- Tragic Idol, Gothic, Shades of God (The first albums are classic and groundbreaking, but lack the maturity you see in the last releases)
6- Medusa (I love the raw and primal feeling of this)
The rest are really hard to rank for me, all of them showing something good. And, sorry PL fans, but I think Draconian Times is overrated. There are 2 amazing songs there (Enchanted abd Forever failure), but the rest of the album is just a bunch of good gothic rock songs, not the really original, marvelous songs that make PL to stand out). For me Icon is alone on the S-Tier. At A tier I'd put Draconian, One Second, Faith Divides Us and Shades of God
Draconian Times, always. Where are you from? Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield? somewhere in Yorkshire? Maybe more west. Tell me how far off I am. My ability to recognise accents is getting worse.
I don’t think Yorkshire. I think Questy has a Midlands accent. My guess is Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Northants, he’s from somewhere like that.
Symbol of lif is my second favorite album! Gothic is probably one of my least favorite

Draconian times together with Medusa is their weakest. The first is reheated icon while the second is reheated plague within
Obsidian is the only album i cant hear its so so self destructive despair katatonic etc i cant handle it

The first and last album are the 2 best.
Shades of God has a GREAT sound and some great tracks... But most of it is just ruined by some of the worst lead guitar I've ever heard. Idk what they were thinking...
Draconian Times and Lost Paradise Lost are top for me
I cannot get into Paradise Lost beyond the first album and the demos. The demos of this band are way better than anything else

Weird to see Symbol Of Life so low on people's rankings. For me personally it's in my top 5.
draconian times is my least favourite album, so overrated
all the best PL albums, you rank them last (apart fron Draconian ) lol the first 2 albums are boring as F (yes i hate Gothic)

Total cliche and lazy to pick Draconian Times as their best. Yes, its the most well known album and probably their biggest seller. But also their most middle of the road album. Even Gregor Macintosh called it their most middle of the road album. Anyway, opinions are opinions. They just have so much more in their catalog that is much more exciting than Draconian Times. Icon, Faith Divides us, In Requiem, The Plague within. Even Tragic Idol, Medusa, and Obsidian. All albums I easily reach for over Draconian. Not that Draconian isn't a great album in its own right, it is.

Gothic & Lost Paradise were made by an amateur band...Shades of God is outstanding...as perfect as Draconian times...Obsidian is a complete uninspired and bored album and Icon has a really bad drumming and some songs are unnecessary in the album...however Paradise Lost 2005 is a pretty good album regarding to sound and composition.
Believe in nothing has so many classics dude ......
