On our way back from San Bernadino Railroad Days, we stopped by the Tehachapi Loop to catch some trains. In this video, you will see a Union Pacific Manifest and a BNSF Intermodal Train traversing the loop upgrade. Sorry about the jerkiness and the wind, I just got a new tripod and am in the process of getting a microphone. 35.197888, -118.532405 That spot is real close to the Loop Ranch main ranch house.
If you ever go back again, there's a better viewing area that's a small hike from the loop monument where you were. These are the coordinates to see the spot with google earth 35.197888, -118.532405 Just paste that into google maps or google earth. It's a dirt trail that goes from the paved road. It goes up to the top of a knoll above the area, a perfect viewing area by ground.
