  • In this video, we're discussing the top three essential elements/nutrition biomarkers that should be prioritized for your brain and nerve health: vitamin B12, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids. Vitamin B12 plays a crucial role in preventing neuropathy and cognitive impairment.
Low levels of vitamin D, or vitamin D deficiency, have been linked to poor performance on neuropsychological assessments and an increased risk of dementia later in life. It's important to consume enough vitamin D through food or supplementation for peak brain health. Vitamin D3 is the preferred form of vitamin D supplement, and there are many options available, including drops for infants and vitamin D gummies for women. Omega-3 fatty acids are the only type of fat that an adult brain needs and are crucial for maintaining optimal brain health. Incorporating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids or taking a high-quality supplement can help you reach the necessary daily intake. By prioritizing these three essential elements/nutrition biomarkers, you can ensure that you're doing everything possible to support your brain and nerve health.

Good advice but most family docs refuse to check Vitamin B levels. They say a deficiency is very rare, lol.

Do you recommend that those over 60 following a whole food vegan diet supplement DHA/EPA? What about for young adults in their 20’s? We do eat flax and lots of greens. Thank you!

It is important that whenever you add any medicine, nutraceutical, or vitamin, that you do it under supervision of your physician, as people have different reactions to three substances. Having said that, and general, one should make sure, either through food or supplementation to have enough, DHA and EPA in one’s system, at any age, is important.

Possibly helpful : kaiser doesn't test omega 3. I had to go outside of them to get mine tested.

Sorry…20 ng/ml is insufficient…your blood vitamin D blood level should be between 40-60 ng/ml ….60ng/ml is better ( reduction of breast cancer Risk by 80% etc)…Please pause your vitamin d supplementation for 5 days before blood test …Furthermore you should know the vitamin d blood test is not very precise….it gives only gross indication where you are with your blood levels…..
