Iron increases the risk of infection so they might prefer it to stay lower while you have a central line in to avoid line infections. Plus, doctors rarely treat iron deficiency before your hemoglobin drops below 11 or 10 and for your hemoglobin to drop enough to say you have anemia your stores have to be depleted (below 10-15) for at least 2 red cell life cycles (one cycle is about 120 days) and most doctors say 6-9 months of depleted iron stores lead to anemia. Of course that does not apply if you are hemorrhaging!

If it’s a min or sec before midnight you are born that year. If it’s midnight on the dot , meaning all the 🖐 are on the 12 event the sec 🖐 you are born that new year that came.

It’s the iron stores that are an issue....not so much the iron....according to both my hématologists, the iron means very little. Most places will not do IV iron infusions until we are anemic....there are risks to IV iron- it is hard on ones liver and you can only have so many.... they want the body to do as much as it can on its own....

no problem! just make sure it warms up again berfore you put another candle inside or it will break xD

Also you can boil a pan of water put the candle holder in first and only fill it till like half way up, take the candle holder out, boil the water take it off the heat and set the candle holder in for a few minutes until you see the wax melting then take it out be careful it will be hot you can use a oven mit or tongs dump the wax and the old candle into a paper cup or something that wont melt and is disposable, wipe out the candle holder with paper towels and wait for the wax in the cup to harden then throw that away and there ya go candle holder is cleaned out. Just saying this will work if the freezer doesn't. I have had stubborn ones where the freezer hasn't worked🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😋😁

It's totally disgusting that they won't do anything until you're super sick, it makes no sense to me like no sense at all🤷‍♀️ is there a reason for this? Like why would they not treat it before it becomes even worse?

I feel your frustration with your doctors. I have pernicious anaemia (alongside EDS, POTS and fibro.) I was put on weekly b12 injections and my symptoms literally all vanished or were so minimal I barely noticed them. So they decided to stop my weekly and change it to every 12 weeks and all my symptoms have returned. My numbers are low but the doctors said they need to be lower for weekly injections. Firstly that information is incorrect and secondly what happened to treating the synonyms instead of the numbers? It’s so frustrating:(

If you run hot water over the outside of your candle holder it'll warm up and loosen the wax so you can get that candle out!

I've got a Hickman line and I'm not allowed to do my own line care such as flushes, but they're more than happy for me to do dressing changes! It's so weird how different places won't let you do things like this!

Put your candle holder in the freezer overnite and you should be able to turn it upside down and tap it on the counter, and the candle was should come out.

The joys of life on TPN! I don't know why the intestinal doctor didn't explain this to you better, but Tpn does not have any iron in it. They are incompatible. The oral doses of iron required to really make a difference in somebody with poor absorption will make you very ill(meaning increased vomiting, abdominal pain, severe constipation that could result in obstruction). The safest form is iv, but it is considered a bloodline biproduct and has to be administered at a hospital. About half of the people I know who have received iv iron have had bad reactions to it. I've not had trouble with it. I'm not sure how things work on the insurance side where you are, but here is my experience in the US. You and the time and cost of a new screen I don't infusions is similar to that of a blood transfusion. Therefore my insurance will only pay for it once my iron was too low to be normal but just barely above needing a transfusion. They do them once a week for one month and then once a month until I get a blood test saying my level is fine. At that point the insurance stops it and the whole cycle repeats itself. I've also needed 3 blood transfusions over the past 3 years while already hospitalized with no apparent cause. One of the hardest hurdles to over come when you are on TPN is not getting too caught up on the lab numbers themselves. Unfortunately, we are no longer "normal" and the specialists treating us seem to have their own guidelines as to what treatments we need and when to get them. Hang in there! I know how frustrating this all can be!

Low iron can be a sign of infection at least in me it was. I’d get some blood cultures done if your infection levels are raised? I ended up having infective endocarditis but it was caught really late. They transfused me 4 times and sent me home and it kept dropping. That was my main symptom (I was also on Tpn at this time) hope they come up whatever the cause!

EXACTLY MY FEELINGS, I myself have Crohn’s but exactly the same about doctors procrastinating treatment.. last big surgery they kept putting it off till I physically could eat and was in too much pain to leave the house until they were like ‘oh yea so let’s schedule your surgery’ after three hospital admissions 😑😑😑 keep on those doctors asses so we can keep you happy and healthy ❤️

I work in a hospital and we go by military time. So if you were born on midnight it would be 0000-2359. Then midnight would be 0000 again for the next day. So if it were a baby born it would be January 1st at 0000 :)

for the things that make you go hmmm, in Belgium you would be born in the new year because the previous year goes until december 31ste 23:59:59 (or 11:59 Pm and 59 seconds) so at 00:00 you are in the new year. I know this because I was born at 00:01 (am) and so my mum asked the doctors which day my birthday would have been if I was born 1 minute earlier... (maybe it has changed through the years, but that was what the docters told my mom)

Dried flower are you talking about potpourri? What did you rub on you wrists? When I was on tpn I had weekly lab draws and never did my own dressing changes on my own. Wonder why they are training you to doing it but from what I have seen your very sterile when you hook up which was very nice to see. I've seen a lot of people not go buy protocol that makes cringe. My hemoglobin is 8.2 I have to get blood transfusions but it has to be 8.0 due to blood shortages, use to be 9 when I could get them 9 I'm already feeling rubbish. 8 is horrible. Last week I was 8.1 and still couldn't get one 😣crazy . I'm chronically low I don't go higher them 9.2 it effects daily living hope they sort it out. I'm allergic to infusions. Love you vlogmas song in the beginning and Thing that make you go hum 👍🏼sorry on jumping around. I love you videos they are helpful, real and overall great, thank you.
