So, who's reminding Jay he needs to toggle the wargear by clicking on the box next to an item to actually buy it? Pretty sure it happened too when he played Black Crusade.
Just some quick notes: - You can get both the meltas and the multi-meltas on the celestians for even more anti-tank. - Seraphim aren't melee, they use dual pistols to attack at close range. I was never particularly impressed by them, but they /are/ cool. - The Exorcist is a pipe organ tank that shoots missiles from the pipes. I don't remember if they're good, but like, do you care? It's a pipe organ missile tank. /I/ want that. - Sisters Rhinos are actually like, good? They still don't do a ton of damage, but they're cheap and durable and they get the laud hailers that your buildings can get to boost your morale and break your enemies'.
seraphims are lacking in melee, but dont forget that they have anti tank grenades on t2; because they have upgrade on 3 tier that allows them to jump assault on enemies and make them fly and do 35 damage, but its very situational, for example if you need to hit&run they are pretty nice because can shoot while moving like Diamondback thing from SC2. As for myself i prefer mass celestians because they have good ms
@@eduardhegyi I think I under-built them when I played, some years back. I'm honestly not sure why, because again, "pipe organ missile tank" kinda sells itself.
Each holy icon you build costs more then the one before. This only resets one step if a listening post with one is destroyed. Having 5 of them is the max effect you can get, but in the end they dont produce anything, they just unlock your faith storage. As you get faith collected faster with more units you have, you can also spend it way faster :)
A good reminder is that you can right click the reinforce button so it’ll auto reinforce whenever you have requisition for it. Saves on lots of clicking for when your squads take casualties.

Hey Jay, love your videos! Just wanted to mention that Soulstorm has a fantastic mod called Ultimate Apocalypse that adds tons of new units to every faction, as well as upgrades and weapons and everything. It's compatible with the campaign now, and I think you'd really love it. Wanted to say something now before you got too far into the campaign.
Thanks! I plan to do this campaign vanilla since it’s all brand new to me still. Ultimate Apocalypse seems like a modding standard for this game though that I’ll need to try eventually.
So Dawn of War 2 and 3 reveal canon outcomes for the Dawn of War DLC. Dark Crusade’s canon winners is the Blood Ravens, Winter Assault’s canon victors is the Eldar, and Soulstorm’s canon winners was revealed in Dawn of War 3 to be the Orks since every other faction kills Warboss Gorgutz and he is a leader in the Dawn of War 3.
If your tired of the moive crash, there is a simplier fix. go to game properties, got to launch options type -nomovies it will disable cutscenes but your dont have to go throught annoying steps to finish a fortress
Jay, just you are aware there is a game crashing bug that can occur at the end of the HQ/Stronghold missions, I'd recommend saving just b4 you win the battle. If it does happen it can be avoided by skipping the cinematic at the end of the HQ mission. Really sucks to spend 30-60 min on a hard mission and just loose all of your work because of a crash :(
@@Lotiras92 it’s in the next video, but you need to save right before ending a stronghold map, quit to menu, lower your visual settings and resolution to the lowest possible, then go back in and finish the map. Once you’re back to the strategic layer map of the system, you can set your graphics back to normal.
For Soulstorm AGGRESSION IS REWARDED. Whether it's just on the base map or in the actual skirmishes. On the base map, the slower you play the harder it becomes, especially when you get to fighting necrons (10 province Necrons are almost impossible to beat). So you want to hit strongholds fast to wipe out a faction and consolidate all your honour guard on a planet. For skirmishes, because of lack of persistence buildings, you just want to get through them ASAP. If you were playing Space Marines it'd be super easy to just push out 3 squads and win while teching up. But unless you like 40 minute slogs, you want to try and push fast and hard. ON THE FLIP SIDE, Strongholds you NEED to take slowly. They hit you hard, they hit you fast, and the longer a stronghold goes, the larger and more deadly the attacks become, and some of the strongholds have some secret attacks that will catch you off guard.
The campaign drags just as Dark Crusade because there is a point when the skirmishes are just rushing the enemy with the starting requision army... again and again just to end a turn. Thank god for the Battle Sisters perk to start with more buildings. The unique stronghold mission are the real deal just as in Dark Crusade but some strongholds might be defeated by other AIs before you can reach them.
Dark Eldar play essentially the same as normal Eldar, except that your workers (slaves) and other units can harvest souls and your base can use souls as global spells. One of them is Soulstorm, the namesake of this expansion. Acts of Faith are unique to Sisters of Battle faction. They are abilities used by specific units like Selena, missionaries and priests. They are like psychic powers, except that you are relying on units with glowing halo on their heads to generate Faith, which is basically mana of your army (unlike Space Marine Librarians and Chaos Sorcerers that have only cooldown on their powers). Sisters of Battle special super unit is Living Saint who has a spell that looks like Tauren Chieftain's Shockwave, except that it's fire-based, insta-kills infantry, severely damages buildings and they are tough to confront as enemies. They are especially annoying to confront in their own HQ territory because as far as I remember (I played this very long time ago) Living Saint generates invulnerability aura around herself (like Big Bad Voodoo from Warcraft III Shadow Hunter but it makes and her invulnerable too) and you have to destroy four Saint Shrines to bring that aura down.
Sisters of battle aren't tough at all. Most of their units are hot garbage, except for the celestians, which are an 'anti-everything', not just an 'anti-vehicle' unit.
I have Soulstorm and didn’t like fighting the Sisters of Battle due to the Living Saint. I tried to play as the Imperial Guard and got screwed trying to take out the Dark Eldar since I can’t clear that first territory on their world.
Oh, this should be fun. And just as Grant is going through DOW1 basegame, too. Double DOW is double the fun! I wish you a relatively bug-free experience. The skirmish missions aren't as fun in soulstorm since they're always full rush, but in my opinion the stronghold missions are the best in the series.
Spoilers : a lot of enemies are gonna burn. Sisters are a fun faction, I love their artillery because they're literally organs on wheels, and their titan (or whatever the ultimate unit is called in this game, it's been a while) because it flies. Gameplay wise they're less tanky/modular space marines with lots of fire + buffs with the faith IIRC. Jay if you read this, don't forget to attach your heroes to a squad instead of leaving them on their own
Is it "From the lighting" or "From the lightning?" Intuitively, it seems like it should be lightning, but it looks like the source material says lighting and it also sounds like lighting.
Actually, Imperial Guard's infantry with Commisars and Priests can be permanently immune to morale damage, so it's not really a problem for them. Also, on Normal difficulty your units have double health.
Sisters of Battle are truly the perfect faction for Jay "Firebat" Borino But yeah, one of the (many) downsides to Soulstorm's campaign compared to Dark Crusade is that there are no persistent bases. On subsequent missions in the same area, the ONLY thing you get to start is what you've placed there as a garrison. It's just that the Forward Base buildings get left as Garrison structures. But no strategic points, no units beyond the Garrison, nothing is retained. It's a major downside. All in all, Soulstorm is considered a step down from Dark Crusade, but it can still be fun in its own way.

Rushing enemy hq is still valid, especially on gate territories(i was too slow with ig so gave up on them, won other factions).
