Bought mine about 6mo ago and have had to use it twice while camping. Good fuel "milage" and it runs both my 5k AC and mini fridge with ease. I run mine in economy mode and worked great all night long.
The Pulsar is the best 2K inverter generator for the money. There are at least 15 brands that all use the 79cc Ducar motor and only differ in the plastic panels and front panel layout. You can buy nearly 3 Pulsars for the price of the Yamaha and they're nearly identical.
Do you have a hour meter on it just curious how many hours people are getting out of these we bought one last year only have 40 hours on it so far but will be using it alot more now that we got a icecastle fish house
@@howelake no sorry, that never crossed my mind. As far as hours go, I probably put less hours than the average Joe, but non the less, it starts every time easily no matter how long in-between runs, and I've ran everything in my house so far with ease. I'm sure typical hours run time could be found somewhere online.
OK just wondering have not been able to find any with over 300 hours so far I'm sure that they are out there hopefully some one will comment on one they have
Use shorter and thicker gauge extension cord for less resistance and voltage drop. A 10AWG or 12AWG cord is much better. The 14 and 16AWG are for Christmas lights. For your a/c roof top unit a soft start capacitor would help or a new unit, but it is very old. The Pulsar has an undersized engine at 79cc. If you use this unit at its maximum running wattage range you will distort the sine wave and overheat your inverter. For instance a Honda Eu2200i uses a 121cc engine and can surge for over 30 minutes. Yamaha uses the 79cc in their 2200 watt unit and they suffer from lack of power. Try the better cords first.
I have the Ryobi RYI2322, same engine and basic setup. Ryobi adds its control panel with LCD screen and Bluetooth phone control with remote shutdown. I haven’t seen this mentioned but there is no doubt the same Ducar engine and design is the basis for both models. There are probably several models from different manufacturers based on the same design. I love the Ryobi and it is worth the premium to me.
Great job on this video. I did a similar review of this same generator on my channel last year, and one of my viewers found another channel had completely stolen my video, stripping off the intro, closing, and watermark, republishing it as their own. I just reported them ("Madison Berry") for copyright violation. So you may want to search periodically for your video. Wouldn't surprise me if they steal yours to replace the one they stole from me, once UA-cam makes them take down my video for this same generator.
well if the pull cord breaks you have to take the plastic off and take off 4 bottom bolts in the front its easy after you do it once i own 4 of these and let them run all day and night they might work for a mini split air counditioner but forget about any other kind they work for dc powerd heaters good for recharging battery powerd solor panel systems when there is no sun
I was thinking the same thing. Would be really cool. Cummins makes some generators that I've seen on nice class A RVs and high end 5th wheels but those are big non portable generators.
@@OutpostCTD Very true!. Cummins does make some nice generators for sure. I can't power my AC on my RV with less then 3000 watts without it going into overload mode at some point just running the AC. My 5k btu unit pulls 3.2 amps, fridge pulls 1.1 max. Check the voltage drop through 100' cord with a meter. Not good to use especially when so close to maxing out generator with 10k btu low efficiency AC.

Recognizing this vid is 2 years old, here are a couple of ideas anyway. Look into a "soft start" kit on the A/C --- MIGHT resolve the issue. Alternatively, get a second generator and parallel the two of them, then you'll have around 4500 w available.
Is it load sensitive variable? Or just two speeds, idle down, and high? Honda EU2200i has proportional variable so at 500 watt load it doesn't just go to high for only a mere 500 watts, it adjusts somewhere between low and highest with a stepper-motor to save fuel and noise.
Hi. I recently purchased this as my 1st generator. Plan on using it mainly for camping. I have a question about the ground terminal. The manual says that the generator's ground terminal must always be used to connect the generator to a driven ground rod. What is that about? Do I need to connect the ground terminal to a driven ground rod w/ 12 AWG copper wire??? If not, then when would I need to use the ground terminal? Thanks for all your help in advance!
Technically the point bonding the ground terminal on your generator is to be NEC compliant, since a generator is considered to be a ‘separately derived system’. In the simplest terms, the purpose of a ground rod is to dissipate voltage from a lightning strike that comes into contact with any and all metal parts of a house that are bonded to the electrical system.
I have this generator. Brand new. Going to test it. Not intended to use regularly. What type of oil do you recommend for people using this generator once in a while?
I have a couple options I like for oil. Penzoil synthetic 10w30 is a good one. Also Schaefer’s 7000 10w30. There’s some other good options out there but these are my favorites so far.
@@anilkumar1971 it should. My manual says to run 10w30 in it (with 5w30 also an option) and the little bottle of oil that came with my generator says 10w30 on the bottom right of the bottle.
If your going to use it occasionally, the best way to take care of it is to turn it on a let it run even when you don’t need it, don’t let it sit for 6 months and not turn it on. Once every month or two, turn it on with fresh gas and hook up something light to it and let it run

Are you leaving it run for a few seconds in the choke position first? If you flip it to the run position too soon it may stall out on you. Happened to me a couple times.
Do you think that generator would run one of those portable A/C units? You know, the kind you can wheel into a room and exhaust the heat out a window or a door? Or would a regular generator (not an inverter) work better? Thanks anyone that can help me out!
You can look up the wattage requirements on the sticker of the unit, or if it doesn’t show wattage, multiply the amperage times the voltage. For example 7A X 120V = 840W. I hope this helps. 👍
