$500 Junkyard Supercar: Fabricating & Welding Front End (Project Jigsaw #40)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- This week we continue Project Jigsaw, our 1960's inspired supercar project based on a Porsche Boxster. We begin welding the aluminum hood and also get the paneling to fit up much better. Come along as Tony and Ryan problem-solve the complex engineering behind this project, and take jabs at each other all along the way!

I'm ready to watch someone else do the work, but sleep afterwards as if I did.
Now that’s livin’
This is hands down my favorite series being done on UA-cam!... I realized this morning, I wake up early every Saturday morning like I am a kid going to watch Saturday morning cartoons!!!.... I think you need to make a Crucible Coachworks shirt making that connection!
Crucible Coachworks where adults go to feel like a kid...... Or Crucible Coachworks Millennials or (Adults/Grown ups) Saturday morning cartoons
We’re actually working on a shirt design like that!
@@CrucibleCoachworks I love it! Put me down for a t-shirt and a hoodie!!!
😂 Tony going to the beach immediately after rushing for the work to begin. Boss move.
He better bring me back a gift. 😤
I'm a farmer that welds, not a welder that farms. The grinder makes me the welder I ain't :D
@@kruleworld anything I can clean up gets tigged. For everything else, there's 6010. Haven't invested in a mig yet, but the previous owner of my rake has one, and left 1" wire stubs on every weld. Not like one or two, it's like a lumpy porcupine is holding the metal together.
agreed, brendan fraiser is better than indiana jones. wait i mean the mummy is better than indiana jones
Yeah, Mummy gang! Eat it, Tony
The throatless shears are so handy. I always wonder why more builders don’t use them.
Great work on welding those panels together. Aluminium sheet is a pain in the a$$ to weld. On the other hand Tony is dead right, The Mummy doesn't even hold a candle to Indiana Jones ;)
dude, I'm so early what the heck
Nah you're right on time!
@@CrucibleCoachworks exactly my thinking❤️
The car is starting to look sooo nice ! Keep the good work, steady progress as always!
It's coming along nicely. Well done.
You guys ever thought about making carbon fiber mold panels for a future car build
No one else is doing anything like y'all on UA-cam, keep going it's so entertaining to watch
CC is the best metal shaping channel. make it kustom has some good metal shaping videos but its not the whole channel
what will be the color on this beauty or will it be RAW & polished ?
Looking better and better every week.
You’re pronouncing ALUMINUM incorrectly… you’re in the USA, not UK… 😣
just got a thumb down on video your comment gets Thumbs Up. da fuck country these fakes from???
It's a huge undertaking, but every week you can see your effort paying off. Well done.
So MUCH work happens off camera. Thanks for taking us on this journey. Enjoying every episode.
clean everything with acytone before welding even your rod. Also do a short section (like 1 0r 2 inches) of the weld move to a different section repeat. jump back and forth to keep the heat down. in your time laps you can see your whole panel moving from the heat
Nah Tony is right, again. Indiana Jones can't be beaten by a Brendan Fraser movie, as good as Encino Man was...
Front end's turning out nice! Welds aren't bad, you'll be grinding em flat anyway. I've only ever seen people weld sheet alu with pulse to mitigate heat soak.
God, this series is like crack. You give out a little, and I can't stop waiting for the next hit!
The coachwork is masterclass, the welding apprentis-level✌️😁👍
For alloy the welding is good
FIRST!!
🏅
Nice job coming together nicely 👍🏻 keep it up ✌🏻🏴
As I welder I must comment this for all the dummies out there. No duh those beads don't look pretty... BUT THEY GET THE JOB DONE WELL!!! Jigsaw is coming along amazing brothers, keep up the good work!
Please consider taking inspiration from Mercedes-Benz C111 and Mercedes Vision One-Eleven. Your work can look futuristic while still being retro.
If you're going to say "al-loo-min-e-um" then you have to talk with a British accent ... 😃
So you are located in York PA., and in all your text you use the spelling for (element #13 AL) as Aluminum, yet you use the British pronunciation which is spelled Aluminium! Do you think it makes you sound trendy, cool, or what exactly to use a pronunciation that doesn't match your spelling, or location? I actually think it makes you look kind of phony. Just my opinion.
I think the Mummy is great because I went to see it when I was 19 with a 37 year old lady and she rocked my world when we got back to her place. Showed me things I’d never seen (her and the movie). It was a lil weird though because her 14 year old son was there & up when we came in the front door and made a beeline to her bedroom. Damn, she’s probably like close to retirement age by now! 🤪Being young was fun back then, not all this shooting and overdose deaths. Our drugs were clean and our ladies were dirty. 🤘🏽METAL‼️
I love this series, but I've never seen The Mummy because I thought it wasn't very good? 😬 Maybe I'll watch it but Indiana Jones series is great, especially the first 🤷
Really like seeing the progress of your creation. 🙏👍
And. Natural people not created personalities, not this youtubevoices that gives me diarrhea
Old aston Martins , even though the superleggera was done with wooden bucks, weren't symmetrical. So nice to see people embrace modern tech and not just put on a vintage uniform and act like master crafts men. Love to see people understand artists thrive on embracing mistakes as a crucial part of they're process.
I know nothing about welding aluminum, but I do cover model airplanes with heat shrink plastic. We start in the middle and work our way out. Would that help with welding panels like this?
I'm just praying that you guys don't decide to go with round headlamps instead of oval headlamps .
Just wondering, do you anneal the alloy sheet before working it? I thought it would work harden as you …..work it.
Why are you using the term "aluminium" instead of the correct aluminum?
Are you in England?
Can you please do a long term review of the Arc Captain, really curious to see how its holding up, and how it measures up to your Eastwood machine.
Great project. fun and interesting to watch. too much jibber jabber. keep the focus on the actual work. stay safe
You need to wheel out where it hits, no need to shrink preferably, I built aircraft panels when I was younger.
So how many Brandon Fraser mummy movies are there compared to. Indiana Jones movies with Harrison Ford?
Since you say aluminum the way you do, it isn''t a hood.
I live in the hood.
She wears a bonnet . . . ✌️😎
Now we know what Ferris Bueller did after high school, coach building.
I guess now we know why every one of those hand hammered sports cars from the 50s and 60s is subtly different from every other one.
You shouldn't be doing long ass welds like that you have two sides . Weld six inches swap to the other side weld six inches swap back to the other side letting it cool down between sides ! The build up of heat as you are pushing it down the hood is warping the aluminum doing it in stages keeps it to a minimum.
They are talking about making another Mummy with Keanu Reeves.
Well... As the saying goes; "A grinder and paint, makes the welder i ain't!"
Why does the English wheel look like a prop out of the old batman series from way back. Lol
haha, awesome episode. a bit of teasing underlines the friendship. and mega result, you can really start to imagine it.
I'm not a car guy but this is really interesting to watch.
There is an excellent Porsche restoration channel who is an expert welder. Would love to see you collab with him
The skill and energy required to do this type of work is over the top!
The English wheel is so big that it looks cartoonish. is that made by ACME?
Still think it looks like a smiley face, a separated, same height as the lights, air intake with a air shroud to the radiator is how Shelby would have done it to cramp as much air thru the radiator
Love watching this car come to life. I was wondering if the outlet for the radiator is large enough to move the amount of air the car needs?
Sorry can't thumbs up Indian crushes The Mummy.
For some reason, l believe this car needs some pop-up front lights.
Is that background music at 12:00 what I think it is?! 🧐
Indiana jones is way better than the mummy. Not even close.
I love how you say "aluminium" and "toobing" in the same sentence.
No one stand alone title may beat either Indy or Indiana Jones and certainly no temple of doom..
I think you should just scrap the headlights on the top of the bonnet
It’s cool to see how the aluminium moves about on Timelapse..
“Nice tight butt weld.”
I have to say, I’m a fan!
First of all, nice work on the humps / welding. Secondly, The mummy is not greater than Raiders, Temple of Doom, or even Last Crusade. It IS far superior to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny. Also where can I view said presentation? :-D
It’s okay, you’re allowed to have (incorrect) opinions.
I will be preparing a more in depth presentation for the future. 😎🙏
Is the front on the clamshell wide enough?
hey, im gonna ask some "stupid" questions, so i become less stupid.
1. whats going to keep the panels from vibrating against the tubing? cos that would be LOUD. will they weld every so often to the tubing?
2. i think you mentioned this in some videos but... just a soft fender bender here means THE headache, right? seeing as the fenders and hood are one whole piece, there is no replacing a panel here.
3. would indiana jones beat the mummy easier than brendan and company did? or just by indana being in the movie, things would end up the same wether he interferes or not... like in the lost ark. (buuuurrn).
gotta admit it tho, if indiana didnt participate in the events of the lost ark, same result. but if brendan and comany didnt go poking the mummy... nothing bad would have ever happened... so there is that (although thats debatable since other ppl might have gone looking for the mummy, but not be up for the challenge of defeating it... this can go on for ever hahahaha)
Why would you mispronounce Aluminum?
As your series started I thought :......and here we go again Rustbucket on modern drivetrain.
Man was I wrong, that's quality work, how I like it. The car looks great allready.
Have you guys been watching Ian Russel's Boxster build on Full Custom Garage? I immediately thought of you guys. But he is doing a fiberglass body out of a mold.
Americans pronouncing it al-lu-min-nium 🤔
I used to be an A & P mechanic. Your craftsmanship is brilliant! You have skills way beyond me. I would love to own that car!
Some channels put an entire build in a 20 minutes clip........just saying.......
We aren’t like most channels. 👈🏻😎👈🏻
when welding aluminum, especially long welds that you don't want to warp, you should be skip welding so you don't over heat one area. pulse welding helps but it's still recommended to skip weld it
Love the content!! Where are you getting the jams from!? @22:11 I could listen to all day.
Thanks! We use Epidemic for our music selection.
Best Saturday morning cartoons! Loved the slightly longer form, keep it up!
The welds looked fine brother. Its crazy how you can see the entire panel lift just from a temp change
How is the 928 coming along?
Al leemunum? da fuck country you from?
Now I have Alec Steel singing "Blue Dykem" stuck in my head lol.
Refresh Refresh. Lol
😆😆😆
I look forward to this series every week! Thanks for all you're showing and doing.
Man the blue of that dye looks sweet
i hate waking up early. i get my coffee, sit in front of my computer....is it there yet? is it there yet?
Indiana Jones > the mummy.
indiana jones 4 lYfe
Nice work 2x👍
It really is a pleasure seeing this come together. Keep it up!
How much does #322 go for???
I'm just in awe everytime i watch you guys.
All Hail the Algorithm 🙌
Great work as always.
Love the bonnet opening
Where is episode 41?
This abomination should even be named in the same sentence as a GT40 or Miura.
e d g y
keyboard warriors are at it i see
Ahhloominuhm😂
Best pronunciation ever: "Aloom-minium" 🤣👍
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'm an Englishman and fan of Americana 🇺🇸
Is that an AvE reference I see?
@@shred1894 AvE rules.
@@CrucibleCoachworks Uncle Bumbleforks has wisdom that none of us can hope to match.
Only thing I dislike is your videos are tooooo short
We're hoping to move to longer videos in the near future!
@@CrucibleCoachworks thank you
Great video and progress!
Hello from Australia!
Jenga? It's jigsaw puzzle! 😯
Jengsaw?
"Alu-minium"
Uh - loo - min - num , FOUR syllables.
