    Made it look easy!
    My middle black piece that’s built it to the cover that holds the middle white gear in place broke off, have to replace the whole head because of that.
    Glad you posted this

    Having parts shipped right now to redo my minn kota edge. Thanks for the video. I also have to redo the upper shaft bearing also so just going to replace both of them.

      Allright! Lot cheaper than buying a new trolling motor. Good luck with your project.

    Thank you for the video, not to be a critic, I believe there is a tension screw on the foot pedal control to allow the cables some slack. You must have had a screw left over for the white clamp that held the wires in place , you mounted on the cable holding bracket not where it was removed from.

      It was not as hard as it looked. I was surprised that the new style head fits the same as the old style head. Hope the video helps with your project. Thanks for watching.

    Need help. When reinstalling cable gear and 4 screw
    bracket that holds cables down my cables were now too short. Bracket was about 1/4 inch short of holes matching up. I noticed that yours were also but you edited out that part. How did you get bracket to match up. I even put original head back on and cable bracket
    still wouldnt match up. What to do??

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  2 роки тому

      I was able to get everything to line up eventually. I didnt use any special tricks- just pulled on the cables with some force. (I probably edited out the grunt while I was doing that!)

    Thanks for this video. If I don't have heat shrink, can I get by with electrical tape?

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  8 місяців тому

      Yes. Heat shrink is best b/c it seals out the moisture and prevents corrosion, but electrical tape would also work.

      One last question, I hope. I am going to do this when I take it out of the water and it's on the trailer. Better to do it with the troller down, or pulled up?

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  8 місяців тому +1

    We have this one also. But it’s stuck in high speed. Control module is new. Any suggestions ?

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  2 роки тому

      I have not run into that particular issue. However, I would suspect the multi position speed switch is not functioning correctly.

      We have found out we may have a 24v motor and this particular module is for a 12v.

    I can see that there is 2 different replacement sets, a red and a yellow?
    Whats the differens??

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  9 місяців тому +1

      The yellow is the newer style head. My trolling motor had the head with the red indicator. I bought the newer style with the yellow indicator and it fit. I think the only difference is the style.

    There must be 8 videos on this repair on UA-cam. They all break in the same place. When I bought the replacement part on Amazon they said they had sold 50 so far this month ( it was mid June). There must be a design problem here. What gives Minn Kota? My motor couldnt have had 25 hours on it.

    • @ralphbenner3174

      I broke my Minn Kota Maxxum 65 two days ago in almost the exact same spot. But I don’t feel bad at all about it. Mine had 20! years of HARD use including 5 years in the Arizona sun. I will never complain about that.
