Thanks for the compliments on the videos. I love to give people dogs that are not going into the show ring to practice on. Or practice on any dog. If you only have a puppy, then work with them a little at a time to get them use to doing this.

The more they get use to it, the better they are. Patience is the best thing you need to have when working with a dog on the table. With the feet, I hold on till they stop wiggling then trim. They learn that I will let go when they stop wiggling and are done.
When I have had rescue dogs in that have major feet issues we would work on slowly messing with the feet. Most the time I would do it on the floor watching tv and just pet the dog and then mess with the feet. I would increase with the time more and more. You can add treats to the combination to make the whole process a positive one and not negitive. As the dog fees more comfortable you can add scissors to it and just slowly work up the time you are doing this.

I have an Aussie that ripped his foot pad and had to have surgery. Since then he will not allow you to touch his feet. Any tips on getting him to relax so I can work with his feet?
Work slow with them. I work before dinner time, so they are little more hungry. I worked with rescue dogs for years and often would have to get them use to being messing with on the feet. Basically, work daily. And for several days just start with touching before the foot with your hand in a relaxed place like on the floor. Give them a treat after each time touching. As each day goes on and they are more relaxed go down the foot till you get to the toes. This might take a month of time, a couple of minutes a day. The main thing is, you need to make touching the feet a positive experience instead of negative. After awhile you bring the clipper into the picture. Not using it, but just laying next to the dog. Then for several days just take the clipper, without using and touch the dog's feet with it. Eventually, you will clip one nail and so on. Good luck. Patience and persistence.
If the dogs aren't dirty, I trim before the bath then after the bath I do spot triming
Thanks! Do you bathe and blow dry the day of the show? The day before? I just washed and blew my dog dry per your video and she looks amazing! Do I touch her up and re-dry her tomorrow(show day?)
I blow dry the day before the show. Wet the dog at the show with a spray bottle and then redry.
Hello, may I ask what tools you are using here ? Specifically the brands ? There is so much poor quality tools out there I wanted to ask someone with experience.
I have found on amazon a great little set of scissors that are very inexpensive. They are made by purple dragon. They have all different types of sets here is one I recently got for a raffle: Purple Dragon 7.0 inch Rhinestone Decoration 3PCS Pet Grooming Scissors Dog Hair Cutting & Thinning Shears Set They are good scissors that are cost effective.
What brand of nail trimmers do you use?
Not sure on the brand it is more the type.
