Finally someonebthat shares the same opinion as me. Call Of Pripyat may be the most polished and stable game in the series, that doesn't make it thw best imo. Ahadow Of Chernobyl had an atmosphere that is yet to be replicated and I can't really put a finger on what the differnce maker is. Clear Sky looked amazing for the time and Call Of Pripyat had way bigger maps with way more landmarks but it didn't immerse me like the original one. I think it's something to do with the weather effects ans the color pallet used. Every area in Shadow Of Chernobyl had a disctinct vibe to it even though they all looked fairly similar on the surface. I'm so excited for the sequel, no game was able to scratch that stalker itch, not even Metro. Thanks God for the amazing modding community and GSC releasing the tools to create all the amazing mods that kept Stalker alive when everyone pronounced it dead.
For me personally, SoC had more creepy laboratories and underground facilities to explore. Also, due to the lack of an upgrading system, unique weapons and armor had more value and meaning, which made equipment hunting more unique because those items were one-of-a-kind. Also, there were unique stalkers just roaming around the world randomly and a world leaderboard, which made me feel like I am actually in a world where many other stalkers are doing their own thing. You could even see stalkers roam from one map area to another as you progress in the game. Also, although I prefer the artifact hunting mechanics of CoP and CS, I liked how certain rare artifacts had to be searched for in very specific places or stashes.
Thank you so much for writing this, I couldn’t have put it better myself and I’m right there with you about that itch, I can’t remember when I’ve been this excited for a release since I was a teenager; that raw enthusiasm to explore something new but familiar.. what a time to be around! Wishing you all the best!
Yeh I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much as the first two… it was still great but always felt “cut down” to me.. I always choose to reply SoC and CS over this. Peace. Can’t wait for the sequel in a little over a week.. let’s goooooo
I love whenever I find someone else into stalker and fallout, and I think we both had the same experience with fallout 3 followed later by COP, fantastic video
I truly appreciate the kind words, thank you. They’re both series that truly have had an impact on me as a person, and media lover. I truly appreciate you taking the time, hoping all is well!
I fully support your words. I remember when I was a child (now I'm 26), I passed through the shadow of Chernobyl for the first time. I was scared, especially in the laboratories. First, x18, then x16, and finally, the most terrifying for me, x10. With each new laboratory, my fear grew stronger and stronger. Then I played in the beautiful Clear Sky and the equally excellent Call of Pripyat. However, I didn't feel the same fear and admiration for other locations, even Pripyat 1. (Apologies for any grammar mistakes. English is not my first language, as I'm from Russia.)
Firstly, your English is fantastic and thank you so much for taking the time to write this, sharing your experience and memories! Do you think it was because SoC was the first time in the zone, that’s why it was so awe inspiring and scary? Opposed to CoP? What were your thoughts on the bloodsucker den?
@Dog.Dad.Studios I think that these feelings were primarily due to the strange atmosphere of the game. It's difficult for me to describe it exactly, but a combination of words like "rude", "rusty", and "unfriendly" would be appropriate. In Russia, we have a whole culture dedicated to the early versions of the game! The overall soundtrack of the games was also influenced by the atmosphere. In SoC, it was dark and gloomy, like being cut by a knife (in a good way). In CoP, it was still gloomy, but also more melodic. We became friends with many groups, and our enemies were basically a monolith and mercenaries. However, even among them, we found some friends. The mutants in SoC were rough, with harsh animations and models that made them seem scary, because you never knew what they would do next. In CoP, they became more predictable due to the improved game engine. And what about the bloodsuckers den?, The place has a very atmospheric atmosphere on the one hand, but on the other hand, it is also very clean. I remember more the feeling of sadness from the death of a Gluhar at the end of the quest, as well as the Tremor room filled with the blood of stalkers, and his suicide, which was a very sad and frightening story. And it was for this reason that I had to adjust the region in Steam to pre-order STALKER 2. There, I saw a very authentic and rough SoC atmosphere. In the GONE GOLD videos, the developers used a screen image from the SoC main art to show the laptop. This shows that, although the team is mostly new, they clearly understand what they are doing, albeit with some problems in developing.
It’s a lot of fun since it’s much more “open world,” first time playing even with focusing on the story, I would say 10-17 hours. I say this because there is a lot of content with side quests, exploring the zone, and then there is a point in the story that you’ll need to grind for some roubles, which adds on some time for newer players ( hint, grab as many artifacts and sell them as you can). I think it’s worth it and will set the tone perfectly for HoC. Viz thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment, I truly appreciate it!
@@Dog.Dad.Studios Actually, I'm scared. Imagine, half of the studio is new and has never worked on the trilogy, microsoft has sponsored them (which is no longer a good sign). I'm afraid they won't understand how to make STALKER, and they'll just make another graphically beautiful shooter with that Unreal Engine
@@xaropy in the best way possible I hope you’re wrong ahaha : ), but I understand your sentiment, which doesn’t seem like it is far from the possibility.
I was able to get my team all the way to Pripyat without any deaths! You have to make sure that you bring trappers shotgun, or the spas-12 with around 200 shotgun shells… Streloks sgi5k with 400 rounds of AP 5.56, and the VSS Vintorez from the burnt farmstead roof! Along with 20 medkits and you’ll make it thru just fine!
@ thank you so much for this information! As an American, my knowledge of the distinctions between the Slavic languages is ignorant at best.. That’s a great detail because it shows how far people come to the zone. I truly appreciate this, it’s a video game fact I’ll never forget : )
@ No worries . But georgian is not slavic , georgian is way more ancient . Georgian and armenian are amid the most ancient languages . By the way bandits from Stalker are the fan favourite because they are using prison slang all the time and that sounds hilarious. Many one liners are still in use
@dogdad Have you ever explored the top left most corner of the map in Jupiter? Another great video by the way, keep up the content. I agree wholeheartedly that SOC is my favorite. Nostalgia factor aside I think the atmosphere is a master class, from the ambient sounds to the gray/brown color scheme of the world.
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, it helps out the channel more than you know. Reading your question made me think about it and the answer is no. There are many reasons to go to top right.. now I have to explore it : )

I love that, they’re so far gone that they continue with it. Very cool!! Hoping stalker 2 enlightens us ; ) I truly appreciate your words, it brings a smile to my face while writing this response and makes me motivated to come back after my honeymoon and continue on with vigor and dedication. @@Dog.Dad.Studiosin shadow of chernobyl you can find some dead monolith soldiers in yantar and one of them has a pda which implies that the brainwashing slowly wears off when they are too far from the center of the zone. This is what’s happening in cop, the monolith are weakening and slowly coming back to sanity.
Oh absolutely, I mention in the ending about how jumpy it is once you get to Pripyat. Wasted space in my opinion, especially since Pripyat itself is so freaking cool and aesthetically breathtaking. I was kind of bewildered by the cuts in most of the scenes, like the start and ending; you have this whole battle throughout the city and then what? Leave the zone by an accept button? Wild.. Ahahah anyways I love the game regardless, but soc had better pacing. Where do you look forward to seeing in stalker 2?

You could've recruited strider, too. The guy in the monolith squad you find. He has his own suit, and is a great fighter
The good ending of this game was incredible, I never was so happy for fictional characters ever again
