    Beautiful beast! I still working on my m62, but im not going to modify it. Took it apart because lack of maintenance. It had a thick layer of sludge

    • @rodknockers2036
      @rodknockers2036  6 років тому +3

      Thankyou! I've seen some horrible looking m62s online due to lack of oil changes, but never opened one up with sludge personally. Make sure you clean all the oil galleries you'd hate to leave one blocked! There are like blanking bolts in places from where the drilling for the galleries took place so you can remove them to get a better look

      Rod Knockers for sure, im gonna change pistons and rings because some of all that garbage got into the cylinder and has a little scratch that now has to be erased by wearimg the cylinder and putting oversized pistons. But im keeping crankshaft bearings and of course taking block n heads to the machine shop for a good cleaning

  • @JesseBreaks

    How did you re-hone the alusil block for a new set of rings? I've tried to re-ring an alusil block without a hone and the oil consumption was out of control.

      How many horses power do you get ?

    Hey mate, just wondering what boost you are running? what rpm is red line? are you using a stock piston? and what rods? did you upgrade the valve springs??

    • @rodknockers2036
      @rodknockers2036  5 років тому +1

      Hi Sean,
      I'm running 9psi and the redline is around 6.2k so pretty much standard in that respect. I have stock pistons with gapped rings. Then forged rods which are 2mm shorter to give a compression ratio of arround 8.5:1. The valve springs are standard doesn't seem to valve float at all.

    Whats the oil pressure sensor welded in the oil pan for?

    • @rodknockers2036
      @rodknockers2036  5 років тому

      It's an oil temperature sensor for the standalone ECU

    • @1malditoPerro
      @1malditoPerro 5 років тому

      Oh ok I thought it may have been some kind of switch for safety cutoff in case of low oil pressure. Any reason you didn't use the factory location for the sensor?

    • @rodknockers2036
      @rodknockers2036  5 років тому +2

      I have an oil pressure sensor for that in the filter housing. They don't have an oil temp sensor from the factory just an oil pressure switch in the filter housing

    • @rockers2rockers616

      Ehsan Al-Agtash remember BMW bought Jaguar some years ago, we'll I'm pretty sure the V8 Jaguar were those same 4.4Litre BMW engines. Those motors were ahead of there time in design and don't forget were sold in the E34 540i so long before an E39 had them and before Jaguar. I bet it is the identical motor. Not sure if Jaguar had the Vanos on them though.
      I want to supercharge my E39 540i Motorsport. I've been trying to find out what blowers are used on the LS motors in Australia. Aussies are master's at turbo charging and supercharging engines. There are so many workshops where you can drive in and drive out that day with 60% more HP and huge Torque numbers.
      Goodluck with your search.

      @@rockers2rockers616 Jaguar has never been owned by BMW. The AJ V8 and the M62 are different motors. Perhaps you're thinking of Land Rover? They had M62's and a chassis electrical system resembling the E39's in them for a short while in the early 00's.
