Hey everyone! I have completed an 18month review of this product in the last video of this series! In the review we take a look at how well the floors have stood up to the test and my opinion on them. Make sure to go and check it out! Cheers TheHandyTech

Can I just paint the dirty, uncleanable, unwhitable, grout between bathroom floor tile?
Great job! It looks like a 2 part a poxy and that was probably some kind of acid ect. Let white powdery stuff is a Lil bit more dangerous than You think
@@marlene-rr2ih Saw a video in which he throws normal white vinegar onto the grout. While it's soaking you put baking soda into a cup of water with vinegar. Let it fizz and stir in blue dawn or any dish-washing liquid. Now put this onto the grout and scrub up and down with a hard brush. Let it sit 10 minutes and scrub again. Wipe off with damp cloth.
Great clip. Just a safety remark: The gloves are to protect your kidneys and liver because the chemicals used can easily enter the blood stream through your skin and do damage.: single exposure is definitely not as bad as regular contact but that's its not great either compared to safe use of gloves. Also just because you don't immediately feel it doesn't mean that harm did not occur. Lovely video though.
I don’t know how I got here but I’m fascinated
ProfessorAlaska ... me neither haaaaaàaaaaa xxx
same
Me too😉
Aww, that was sweet of you, u wiped under her feet. 💕
So many negative comments but you have to agree it looked 100% better
Katywu Ste I don't see any negative comments
I use rustoleum paint products for most of my DIY projects...even painted my beaut bus exterior and interior! Amazing.
This video was better than the last one I saw. This one explains better
That was so satisfying on a primal level.. refresh your tiles....oooooo
Great video! Clear instructions, no endless unnecessary waffle and straight to the point. I’m subscribing, excited to see what else you do. Waving a big hello to you from England. 🖐🏼🖐🏼🖐🏼
Laura Filby thanks for your kind words Laura! Waving back from Perth :)
I did not know that this type of product was available, very cool!
Karen Weber call a professional. This stuff is crap. I have a tub resurfacing company. It takes a professional grade epoxy. Don't waist your time or money
Karen Weber why? I dont have the money to pay a professional... :(
I tiled my baths with black and white tiles, and I hated the look, and lucky enough, I came across ur video, I painted it now it looks really wonderful
I love that you guys work together. And the result is awesome.
I’m fascinated for no reason
Next time you're doing tile work, get some knee pads. My knees were in pain just watching you two!
Me too. They gotta be kinder to the viewer. ;^)
Lol, you funny 😁
Excellent video, I’m going to try it!! Thanks so much for putting this up,
Looks great!
Really enjoyed seeing how well you work together as a couple. It was sweet and a pleasure to watch, in addition to your nice & new crisp, clean floor! Best wishes to you both in the future.
Thanks! I have a tiny basement bathroom with brown tile (who put brown the bathroom!) And will try this technique.
THANK YOU! I was looking for something like that and finally there's hope! now I have to find something like this in my country
Haha, hell yeah. I'm gonna definitely use this product for my bathroom. Need to give it a quick restoration. Great vid mate! Cheers from Seattle!
Really well done both of you. Lovely and neat.
Great job! I’m going to try this. Although, I am very tempted to to pour the whole can directly on to the floor and use a roller on an extension brush to spread it quickly then detail out with a brush.
Would you be hanging from the ceiling Mission Impossible style? How would you avoid leaving footprints?
@@digitalcurrents start on the farthest side of the room and walk backward.
I like that noone is going mad on that you startet paint in the doorway^^ kind people :)
Are you inferring I was painting myself into a corner? There are two doorways :)
Awesome job !!! Beautiful transformation guys 🎊
I have used latex paint on tile and sparthane as the clear coat to prevent the latex from chipping or peeling and it works equally as well. You can paint tile, cultured marble, porcelain, basically anything. I actually used .50 acrylic paint and used the sparthane to clear coat it and it's still holding up 5 years later and I am rough on my counters. So do some research before spending that kind of money on such little paint. There are so many things that work rather well for a fraction of that price. It turned out well though, good job yall!
OCDs go crazy with that small patch left unpainted.
Nicely done video mate.
Looks great. I can save so much by just doing my bathroom tile like that.
I'm impressed!
I've mentioned this to a few handymen now as I fancied having a go. They all pull a face & say the finish isn't good, but that looks great. Maybe tile paints better now? (they were all a generation older than me & hadn't used it in 10+ years).
Hi Sarah, I would describe this as a temporary solution rather than a permanent one. If you have a look on my channel I show how resistant it is to damage and give an 18months evaluation in the final laundry video. Hope that helps
Wow looks pretty easy 👍🏼 cool
Very nice!
I’m also subscribing because I love that Australian accent! Floor looks wonderful btw..😄
Lovely job.
This looks fantastic!
For cleaner straighter masking lines, frog tape is perfect I find
You could also use a quality primer sealer with a heavy glue rating. But this product does work well
4:17 what happened to the trims? Looks like tons of the paint have been leaked down. Also don't know how you guys gonna maintain that floor looking clean on the white colour, perhaps light grey would be be a better option.
I know this is irrelevant in the video, but it's so cute how he cleans his girlfriend's small feet. :)
Is it true that the paint lasts only 5 years? Amazing
This is ok for low traffic areas; we did it in the kitchen and the paint did not rezist to normal use (no kids or pets either) and now a few months in it looks quite bad, worse than before.
Luc so sorry to hear that
I’m trying this stuff. Great video. Nice red socks 😊
The "paint" is more likely to cure faster in the can than in the tray because it is epoxy based and has a exothemic reaction, the only way to slow it down is to spread it thin or cool it down in the fridge (keeping it in a large quantity in a sealed container insulates the mass as it reacts allowing it to retain heat). Also let's see how it looks in 3 or 5 years. Never have seen painted tile hold up that well, it scratches super easily.
Ficou ótimo. Legal ver o casal trabalhando juntos. Muito fofo.
That looks really nice and bright I like it
Nice video. Tell me, did the paint have a very strong smell? I want to do this soon and it is wintertime up here in Michigan. Do I need alot of ventilation? Thanks.
Hi Jared, I would say no more than normal paint. In saying that, I made sure to close the room off while it was drying. Also with the cold weather up your side of the world it will probably take longer than the specified 24 hours to dry. Once the paint was dry , I found there was a little bit of a lingering painty smell but it was gone within a couple of days. Hope that helps
Okay, thank you for replying. I appreciate that. Happy New Year to you!
@@TheHandyTech Hi. What is the exact name of this Rustolium product? Thank you.
Hi Naomi, if you pause the video you will see the description on the box. It might be marketed as a different name if different countries
Hi. How's the floor holding up?
It looks great. Do you think it would withstand much traffic? Or more specifically, dogs claws?
My dog sleeps in the laundry when we are away during the day. So far so good. I would say that it's definitely not the best solution for flooring, best would be to replace it with better tiles. However, considering the total kit on costs only $100 it has done an amazing job. You get what you pay for :) thanks for watching
looks fab
Great job! Looks easy enough! Next time tho, maybe put socks on bc ur skin leaves oils on the tiles which could resist the paint👍😁💛🌻🌠Looking forwa4d to seeing it yrs later how it holds up👍
Exactly what I wanted to know..those tiny bathroom tile# had work to clean
Thank you so much for the tutorial...it means so much to me...could not afford proper tiling😢
No problem bro I was in the same boat back then. Keep an eye out for second hand tiles lots of people change their minds and can't take tiles back
This seems like a kind of resin based floor paint. Available in many color.
The thirst is real.
Also, great video, mate
That looks really good. I am thinking of painting my countertops that have similar type tiles.
Did you? Curious how it worked/looked.
I love this it turned out really nice. My laundry room could do with a nice coat of this. I loathe our tan dingy looking tile.
I think the paint box is usually for whole the floor and should be enough for the laundry area you have. It just requires to paint a bit thinner layer and you could finish whole of it.
Aaqib Sharif you are probably right. I chose to paint the areas that would be seen, giving me a thicker, more durable finish. Happy painting
Nice video, mate! How's the finish holding up a year later? I'm thinking about using this product to refinish an ugly green tile kitchen backsplash. TIA!
Robert Hein - not certain where you line but here's my input. Appliance paint is an option. Usually available in white. Smelly until cured, best to not be in the dwelling until several days after applied. Also Rustoleum sells a kit. If you have access to Amazon they can ship it to most places. Home Depot sells a kit. Do not skimp on the cleaning process. I utilized the kit from Home Depot and it worked great. (I think it is the same as on Amazon but I never utilized the Amazon option.) I did 2 extra pre-cleaning steps. Wear breathing protection, I purchased a big respirator and am thankful for it. I highly suggest not being in the dwelling for at least a week. Windows open and fans running are highly recommended.
Very nice
Nice gloss puddles on the frames never seen it so bad.
Good work
Great video guyz! One question, what is going on just outside the bathroom doorway on the floor there? Looks like someone poured paint down the framing and it puddled on the floor? Lol
Thanks for the comment. We were originally planning to install floating floor over the 80's tiles, so when we painted we were VERY untidy because it was much, much faster! The paint came off very easy - unlike the rustoleum epoxy in the laundry which is much harder to get off :) hope that answers your question
What about pouring it on the floor and using a squeegee?
Great video. One question: I have tiles with patterns, so they are not totally flat. The design makes them protrude. Do you reckon I'd have to sand them to flatten as much as possible?
FarFed I guess that's up to you. It sounds like a lot of work to get them flat, and painting them white may show up some of the imperfections. The kit is only $100, might be worth just painting straight over them how they are and see how it looks?
TheHandyTech Thanks mate, I guess I will have to give it a go!
It’s ok but will it peel? How long it will last. I would of tear it up and add big 14x 14 tile
Beautiful work
I did. Of course, that only happens on sitcoms! Where, there's a Joey.
You will always know there is an unpainted part and it will haunt you, every night until you paint it too
Yall are couple goals 😍
HI, do you know if we can use this product for showerbase tiles (natural stone as well)?
That is awesome work
Sani Laomahei thanks very much :)
Will this work as well on kitchen counter top tile? Hold as well too?
The more traffic or usage on the surface you paint it on, the least likely it will hold up over time. Hope that helps :)
Wow I should have done this instead of paying almost 900$ tomorrow for my tile. Is it too late to cancel?? Lol 😱 This looks amazing! Job well done!!! 👍🏼👌🏼👍🏼👌🏼👍🏼
I would reccomend using a longer nap roller next time maybe. It would fill the grout quicker and save you time when it comes to brushing. A 6-11mm Nap would do a great job and if you use a 230mm roller frame and sleeve it would get done very very quick. #PaintersOpinion
You guys did an amazing job!!
I’m going to save some money now thank you
Thanks, MATE. I can't match my paint with my tiles so I'm going to just paint the tiles white with Rustoleum. Yay.
Liza Brock nice one! Best of luck :)
There will be peeling. Also hard to truly clean.
Really interesting concept. I was wondering though, if I were to use this on a tiled shower base, how slippery would they get from being painted by this product? Thanks!
Probably depends on the size of the tiles. If they were small, like my tiles in the video, the grout lines would provide some grip. If they were larger then I reckon the paint would make them a little slippery. In saying that I don't know if I would recommend using this product for floor tiling in a high traffic area like the shower, it would be more suitable for the walls only :)
They make a slip protection application as well if you want that
Just my 2 cents worth. Purchase a small quantity of fine sand. Paint a thin layer in the shower pan. Sprinkle about ½ to ¾ cup sand in the area and add a bit some paint to seal the sand in-place. That will add a bit of texture to the area. A friend had a vacation home with beautiful tile floors but it became a safety hazard, especially with children and adults consuming alcohol. Between the pool and ocean they were concerned. We painted a stencil on the floor near the French doors, added fine sand and sealed it. We also painted the pool house tile floors and added sand. Very effective.
My bathroom tile floor is exactly like this but I just covered it with another tile .white floors are horrible to keep clean
Cheap and easy is using toilet bowl cleaner and a scrub brush. Works great.
ZERO CHANCE the original tiles aren't dirty, they are just a horrible colour haha
What can I use to strip this stuff? It didn’t turn out like I wanted.
Did the paint hold up? Or did it chip?
I think I would have poured the paint in a puddle and rolled it on with a trowel to self level . I did this when applying mastic base for tile. it fills all the defects in the floor with a lot less effort
How would this hold up with dogs?
Great video. You sound like Russell Coight😉
That was really Nice. 😊👌✨
Great video!!!!
can you put a new floor over this? like the allure vinyl adhesive floor? my upstairs bathroom is like this, like that old tile and it's so ugly I seen a video of some one putting some over it. what do u think?
Hi Alicia, yes I agree the old tiles are very out of date. I guess you could try a floor covering, probably best to make sure that the tiles are level, do a little research into the application of whatever flooring you choose and make sure to follow the instructions closely. I have never tried putting flooring such as laminate over tiles before but I cant imagine it would be much different than concrete. Anyway, good luck with your tiles
TheHandyTech wow, thank you so much, I didn't expect a reply so fast. appreciate it so much!😊 Yes I have to do a little more research first, but one thing is for sure, these old tiles must go!! 😂💗
No problem at all, thanks for watching :D
I like the project but it bothers me to see you guys not wear gloves and expose your skin to chemicals. Take care guys.
Would that work in the bath tub?
From where can I get this product ?? Bunnings ?? I have been trying vinegar, baking soda and all ... but that’s way to tiring and the results aren’t as good as this .....
TIA
Yes I bought the product at Bunnings Warehouse. Im pretty sure its also available on eBay
Thanks for replying 👍🏻
The original tile was totally presentable. When (when, not 'if') the white coating begins to peel, a never-ending problem will present itself.
Has it peeled or chips during use these past 3 years?
Hi Todd, I ended up removing it and replacing with new tiles. Keep watching the laundry series to see how it progresses
Nice job!
Ficou mais claro e limpo, gostei.
the Thumbs Down fascinate me. i thought it was a Super video.
Thumbs Up from me.
I wonder if its scratch resistant?
Does it smell badly that you will need a respirator?
It's up to you. I didn't find the smell too bad
@@TheHandyTech thanks
Wooow cool
Great job, but you should have painted that corner area.
What's the name of the product. I want to check if they have that available in S.A
Lil Miss Chyler if you pause the video on the packaging you will see it :)
