Jones was the leader of the DR big band during two periods of 1977 and 78, still as co-leader of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. In 79 he created his Eclipse big band of Swedish, Danish and US musicians. He married in Denmark and stayed here until he took over the leadership of the Count Basie Orchestra in 1985. After he passed in 1986, he was buried in Copenhagen. Two of his many siblings were Hank Jones and Elvin Jones. Enjoy "A Good Time Was Had By All"!
