My Priest always says, “God can save whomever He wills to save.” It’s not up to us to limit and define Him. Like many other things, there is an element of mystery that we should recognize and respect.

Bonnie Johnstone 1st it’s not about what your priest says, it’s about what God says. 2 God does save who He wants to save. But through Jesus Christ alone. And yes, we can not define who God is by our own means, but what God says in His Word is settled and will not be changed. God is not a man, so He doesn’t lie, nor contradict His own words. So you can’t be saved through other beliefs/religions. And btw you said priest, are you a catholic? Because that’s a false religion. Because the many of th3 beliefs/practices and traditions are very contradicting to the Word of God. I encourage you to seek the truth about Jesus Christ, true christianity. And while you do that, always check if the teachings are in line with God’s Word. Im not aying this out of arrogance. I care about all of your souls! At least do a Bible facts based research on it! May God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ!❤️

While I agree that salvation comes from God, I still think that God shows mercy on people who tried to be good but through no fault of their own could not accept Him. In fact, even someone being a good person can be attributed to God, as He gave that person a guardian angel.

The truth is, no one is perfect. We have all sinned against God. See it like this: if someone committed crimes and tells the judge: I’ce committed these crimes, vut most of my life i lived as a goof person. The criminql still has to be judged for the committed crimes. How much more is God a righteous God? God is loving, but also just. That’s why we can’t save ourselves. He send His only Eon Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. God resurrected Him on the 3rd day. We have fo believe who Jesus Christ is and what He did for us on the cross. That God resurrected Him from the dead. Repent ( turn away ) from our sins) put our trust and faith and trust in Jesus Christ and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, we will be saved.

I have never seen being Christian as the means of my salvation, I am only saved by God's grace. To me being Christian means acknowledging Jesus is the Son of God, and that He came to us out of mercy and set an example for our lives. So I strive to love others as He loves me. Getting into heaven, or making heaven out to be an exclusive club doesn't really cross my mind anymore. While I am on earth, I wish to be a vessel for God's love and mercy, if I am in heaven, I wish the same. This is just my view, I am not a theologian.

@@paradiseagent5881 Yes, there is much more to Christianity than what I said, but if I only have one chance to explain my faith to someone, I go with Jesus' life and sacrifice as the embodiment of His love for us and His desire for us to dwell in Him and Him in us. “Mumbling over a wafer in Latin?” You do realise that is a sacred moment in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, whether it’s in Latin or in a vernacular tongue, when that mere “wafer” (properly called a ‘host’) is transformed into the body of our Lord and it’s no longer bread but truly and substantially the body of Christ. Do Orthodox not accept the validity of the Catholic Eucharist?

The absolute majority of the Orthodox do not accept the validity of the Catholic Eucharist (I disagree).
I used the phasing I used because that is what the liberals of today would see the Eucharist, and in that way, I made fun of them thinking that the Aztecs were better off with an actual brutal human sacrifice, as opposed to just chanting over bread.

Bible Illustrated Hands thank you for the clarification. Do you happen to know why most Orthodox do not accept the validity of the Catholic Eucharist? Is it because they don’t see it as having correct matter, form, or intention? I’m assuming it has something to do with the fact that unleavened bread is used (in the Latin and Maronite rites), but correct me if I’m wrong.

Now, I may get myself in trouble.... I have Catholic & Jewish backgrounds. I have already left the Catholic Church, possibly the most anti-Semitic institution in history, over their ill informed beliefs. I am notHalachically Jewish, but I have lived & worshiped with the Jewish community. The ethics of Orthodox Judaism are peerless. Their holiness is great. Most of them know right from wrong, & many of them care. I must also say that I have personally experienced power in Catholic sacraments. Even if I’m not entirely comfortable with that, I won’t lie! It has been claimed that the Eastern Orthodox Christians are less anti-Semitic than Catholics & many Protestants. But are they not the people who drove the pogroms, a few current rows, & so much more? Please comment on Jewish-Christian Orthodox relations & the history & theology involved. I keep listening to Orthodox videos & many of them are profound. Yet, I am hesitant...

      Prophet definition-
a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God.
Who is Jesus from the bible
      John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
      John
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
      John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
      John 10:30
"I and the Father are one.”
      John 10:30
I and the Father are one.” The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”
      Jesus about Moses:
      John 5:46
If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me.
Jesus was God from the bible. And the prophet was talking about His arriving in this word to be the bridge between us the creation and God. Understanding the Holy Trinity is essential and clamming that Jesus is a prophet is just lack of solid theology .
      From Quran
They have certainly disbelieved who say, ” Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” while the has said, “O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord.” Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
Messiah definition: the promised deliverer of the Jewish nation prophesied in the Hebrew Bible
No one will enter Jannah except through the mercy of Allah. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, vol.8 p.315 no.474)
So there are many verses in Quran which diminish the importance of Jesus as a God most of them describing him as a prophet, but interestingly we can see some verses such of those two which are pretty similar with what the bible is preaching! Good luck to find a bridge between God and us, by saying that Jesus was a prophet.
If you are following the prophet Mohamed, in his view Jesus was a prophet, if you fallow Jesus, Jesus knows who He is and He is part of Holy Trinity!! Amen!

    ‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
You have to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, thay He died for our sins on the cross, that God resurrected Him from the dead. We have fo repent ( turn away from our sins ), confess sith our mouths that Jesus is Lord and put our faith and trust in Him. Not just say that we believe but sincerely believe. Then we will be saved. God looks at the heart. We should not put our trust in ourselves to be saved, none of us are perfect, we all have sinned. So give your life fo Jesus Christ today!!! Seek the Truth, don’t rely on the word of man, the truth you will find in the Word of God. ( in the Bible). Something else i want you to onow is that God is a Trinity. There is only on God, but He co-exists in 3 distinct Persons: God the Father, God the Son ( Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. They have different roles, vut are co-equal God. So there is only one God, who co-exists in 3 Persons equally. Pray fo God fo helo and show you the Truth. If you don’t have a Bible at home or at hand, you can download fhs Bible app. People, seek the Truth and do not be deceived by yourself nor anyone else! By your wrong interpretation of that verse none of the OT prophets came to God.
The verse says that Jesus is the means. Not that believing that "Jesus Christ is the Son of God, thay He died for our sins on the cross, that God resurrected Him from the dead" is the means.
The scriptures do elsewhere say that those who DO believe that certainly saved. That doesn't mean that those who never have, like all the OT saints, are not saved.
The only condemned unbelievers mentioned are the Jews of the 1st century who actively rejected Him after He walked among them.

1:21 "suddenly you realise that Jesus isn't a Prophet"
Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) was certainly a Prophet:
At the time of Jesus' coming, the people were still looking for "the Prophet." The religious leaders asked John the Baptist
Are you the Prophet? (John 1:21).
John said that he was not. When Jesus appeared on the scene and started performing His miracles He was recognized by many as the long-awaited prophet who is to come into the world.
Therefore when the people saw the sign which he had performed, they said, "This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world" (John 6:14).
Jesus Himself testified that He was that prophet - the One who spoke the words from God the Father.
So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me"(John 7:16).
