    All passengers could walk out of it unhurt and the plane is in one piece and can be used again. That means... GREAT LANDING

    Man! That pilot's got skills!

      not really, some pilots land from the first attempt

    • @BollocksUtwat
      @BollocksUtwat 10 років тому

      777DEHME Everyone knows winds in these conditions are random. Some aircraft will face gusts, others will find a more stable crosswind component.
      Luck has as much to do with it sometimes. Hard to judge it on first time success anyway. For all we know lots of those who put it down on the first attempt are ignoring safe margins and forcing a landing outside of what is sensible.
      Every landing is different.

      BollocksUtwat You should be an excellent pilot

      777DEHME Safety is first priority. Good pilots does not take a risk to land in bad condition. JAL pilots didn't land at the first time but it doesn't mean that they don't have skills.

      ***** Agreed - the fact the pilots chose to go around instead of pushing a bad position means they have even even more skill.

    Я однажды был на борту при посадке с легким боковым ветерком - и когда самолетик машет крылом в паре метров от земли - ощущения не очень радостные. Спасибо пилотам за мастерство и выдержку, и что не прогуливали занятия!

    Wow. I can only imagine what the folks in the cabin were experiencing. I flew on my first 737-800 last week. What a beautiful aircraft. I have flown on many, many other models and they just keep getting better. I flew on this first, then my connection flight was an Airbus A320. Nice plane, but not in the same realm as the Boeing.

    This is some serious extreme amount of wind battle their by the great 737-800 it certainly showed its power and god look at those massive wing-flex's there ,simply superb great pilots and very strong at heart passenger who bared all this during the second landing attempt.

    My God, Hakuto0505, what a frightful landing, but how skillfull those pilots are to put the aircraft safely on the ground. I bet many of the passengers have felt very scared !
    What an awesome video !

    The wings were flapping because the pilot want's to put the plane down, but the plane screamed "No No....let's fly away!!!
    LOL
    Nice work Captain.

    A few years ago, I was on an AirTran flight from Atlanta to Orlando. When we took off there were severe thunderstorms in the Atlanta area. We hit an airpocket that, if I didn't have the seatbelt on, I would have gone right up in the ceiling. It was like the bottom dropped out of the plane! Thankfully, we were a few thousand feet up and were able to continue on without incident.

    Amazing.., that was the right decision, people onboard must be fear like hell.., but they handled by a very good flight deck crew, you see it seems like a "hard" landing, but we called it a "positive" landing, bumping and try to still align with runway, a very skillful and well trained pilot, thank you for sharing

  • @502Aviation
    @502Aviation 12 років тому

    Wow! Look at the movements of that aircraft! He was really fighting the weather on both attempts to land. In my opinion he should have gone around on the second attempt since the second approach appeared very unstable and he landed a bit too far down the runway. Fortunately Narita has a REALLY long runway and he landed safely so Kudos to the flight crew.

    That guy had about 150 feet of runway left by the time he was able to plant the mains on the ground. That's when you see a heavy dose of reverse thrust, full flaps down, speed brakes up, wheel brakes locked up and both the pilot and copilot's feet draging.

    It's the first time I see a plain landing in obvious speed excess (the cross winds demand it ). When pilot tryes the flare, instead of land, plain goes up. This is routine for the pilots.

    I flew into Prague on a 737-300 on december 27th, conditions were windy more head on with a bit of a blustery angled cross wind and it was shite, everyone on the plane just wanted it on the ground, engines spooling up high, wings dipping and drops in altitude, worst approach i've ever had and it was nothing compared to this. Feel sorry for those in the cabin cus it always feels worse in there than it looks from the outside, you feel every movement. worst thing is you cant get off and walk.

    I beg to differ, my friend. This one was a great pilot. He knew when to abort landing and when to proceed . Killing weather this one, unpredictable gusts of wind. Very dangerous. They should have redirected all the planes somewhere.

  • @AgentB7

    Judging by wings deformation, the piloting is perfect, but there's extremely strong gusts. Even bounce isn't result of pilot's error.

    The captain would have enjoyed the challenge but would never put the aircraft in danger. The crosswind would have been within limits. Not sure he would get a pat on the back for the bounce and continue to land, I'm sure maybe flydras department may ave something to say if JAL has one.
