  • Boeing 737 MAX Flight Demonstration - Trade Wednesday Farnborough Airshow 2016
The Boeing 737 MAX is an American aircraft series being developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the successor to the Boeing 737 Next Generation series. The 737 MAX is the fourth generation of the 737 family, with the primary change being the use of the larger and more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B engines and modifications to the airframe. As of 31 March 2016, Boeing has 3,090 firm orders for the aircraft. The 737 MAX first flew on January 29, 2016, nearly 49 years after the maiden flight of the 737 on April 9, 1967; the MAX is scheduled for first delivery in 2017 with launch customer Southwest Airlines.

There is a lot misconceptions about such a steep climb. Any aircraft can do that, for as long as the airspeed creates lift over the wings. MCAS isnt just about angle of attack, but also airspeed. MCAS could have been on during this demonstration and not come into play, as the airspeed was always well above stall. As well, with the flaps down, even at flaps 1, the MCAS will not come on.

MCAS is literally only changing the handling of the plane, so you don't need extra simulator training because it would be so similar to the NG, that you could fly without much extra training if you had NG certification.
MCAS works perfectly fine if you don't have any problems, but as we saw a single sensor failing allowed MCAS to crash the plane, which no software should be able to do..

MCAS is a longitudinal stability enhancement. It is not for stall prevention (although indirectly it helps) or to make the MAX handle like the NG (although it does); it was introduced to counteract the non-linear lift generated by the LEAP-1B engine nacelles at high AoA and give a steady increase in stick force as the stall is approached as required by regulation.

The plane Boeing 737 MAX has really powerful engines, Leap, 56000 pounds thrust. Could be very short take off distance and reverse distance after landing, when wheels touch down the runway. An air navigation in video has performed with high quality, thanks to the pilot. We can feel huge kinetic and potential energy during take off and landing.

Since the 2 fatal crashes of this aircraft in the last 6 months I would suggest that this plane has an aerodynamic problem on takeoff. On this video yes it does handle like a jet fighter but at this airshow the plane was not carrying any passengers or baggage in the hold. Also it would appear that the engines are pushed to far forward on the wing thus moving the centre of gravity forward. Of course I may be totally wrong but there is something not right on take off for 2 to crash in 6 months. Remember the Comet 4B mistakes can be made even with the best people in the business.

Two things; 1) the pilots should be certified to fly the 737 MAX even though with a properly functioning MCAS system it may fly like previous 737's because, 2) shit happens, like errors in the MCAS system. By the way, it wasn't the dead pilots, it wasn't the mechanics, it wasn't the lack of an optional safety device, it wasn't poorly designed sensor system, it wasn't a computer program that needed to be redesigned and it wasn't the janitor on the nightshift. It was an error in the software provided by a contractor.

It's a beautiful aircraft!!! Boeing should fix the M c a s system and test fly the heck out of it on the 737 max 8 system. I mean wring it out!!! And make lots of videos of the testing and show the results so everybody can see it! Show it doing loops if they have too!!! And get the pilots and crew up to speed in their training on the whole system..top to bottom!! They have to get the public trust and confidence back whatever it takes!!! Who cares how much it cost!!! THE BALL IS IN THEIR COURT...they can do it..they must do it!!!

MCAS would not allow this angle of attack in a normaly loaded plane, therefore it must have been turned off for demo. Empty plane allows for more severe flying angles when power overides airframe instability.

During their demo-flights they obviousely turned off the MCAS.
Because of the very steep angle of attack during their show-take off.

That demonstration is, of course, to happen when the pilot is conscientious that the computer is not giving the right signal, of course, with passengers.
And this maneuverings should be done if a nuclear war start. In this case, a point that the cockpit does not have is the electronic device capable of detecting the first detonation of the war. Strategically, a nuclear war will never be declared. This is a new idea for Aeronautics: new ideas must come along the way. Are we good Engineers?, Friendly, Orlando.

MCAS only operates with flaps up, it would not have operated during this display. Even if it did, it doesn't prevent these kind on maneuvers, it just makes the aircraft feel more natural when doing them

Cool takeoff! I forgot we were on an airliner, and not the Millennium Falcon going to the moon! Those are some sexy CFM International LEAP turbofans. Made me quiver and squeal just a bit when them things spooled up, started sucking that low pressure vapor condensation in those intakes, and rocketed down that runway! I had to check and make sure I didn't wet myself, wink, wink. Just kidding.

@@Hk-uw8my here’s the deal Boeing is trying to keep up with fuel efficiency and are competitive with airbus, problem is instead of building a new plane and putting those engines on a new plane, Boeing puts those engines on the old plane and because pilots weren’t informed and properly trained with that new technology, unfortunately people’s lives were lost! My personal opinion all because of greed!

@@hot00head00red thats not how it works ,please do not consider you as a flight engineer if you know nnothing about aviation, a lot of youtube experts were born since the 737 max crisis!
The 737 max didnt crash because of the engines, but because of the mcas which was realesed too early, the a320 had a similar problem ,but its software wasnt as defective as the mcas ,looks like you never worry about planes before,so it's better to ignore them
