I only saw the video shortly before requesting it and thought, Greg would love this. What a performance, eh! I love how you can hear Phil's driving bass loud and clear.
Germany was the other country that loved Cold Chisel. Don't ask me why? Maybe their song "Dresden"? Or maybe they just love good, live rock n roll? That rhythm section is sooooo good...and Don's piano? You are right Greg...they just don't have a bad song and don't know how to give an ordinary performance...when i was younger i thought i would eventually get sick of listening to their music but just like with Led Zeppelin, the more i hear it, the more i appreciate it, and the more that i want to keep hearing more.
I can only assume they had a decent following in West Germany, which I assume this would have been at the time, because of this very concert. As Greg said, if you were a local at this concert, you probably would have found any album you could of theirs after you had seen them perform that night. I suspect they had little chance to see any band like this in those times so would have been something special for the Germans that saw it that night. I saw some concert footage of Icehouse in Germany in mid 80's on youtube and seemed like they really hit the mark with German crowd too. But obviously Icehouse were quite a different style of band to Cold Chisel.
This is one of my favourite Chisel tunes. The talent in this band is hard to replicate. I compare Chisel to Deep Purple mk 2 as far as every member of the band is the best muso any person could hope to be. I'm glad you got to Astrid, a real toe tapper and a great sing a long song.
Back in the 80's my aerobics instructor would play this and make us run on the spot as hard as we could. I still feel the urge to do that whenever i hear it.😅 Another great choice Greg.
My favourite concert (and they are always great). I alternate between this one, Jimmy Barnes 1984 Playroom concert and the Andy Durant memorial concert on my commute to and from work. Brilliant 👏 Letter to Alan from the same concert, and Forever Now is sublime. I say to all, do yourself a favour and watch. Dr_Kap has a few on her channel and Casey Cooper has the whole concerts. Google 1982 Cold Chisel Rockapalst, Jimmy Barnes 1984 Playroom and Andy Durant Memorial concert, all of which Jimmy was in. Star stuff.
By the way the world is big even without America and Chisel were big elsewhere they went to america but a music ex f*cked them around so they came back and Jimmy wrote "" You got nothing I want" about it
This Germany tour was the beginning of the end. The habits and inner fighting got too much. They sacked the drummer when they got home and then ended it
Rockabilly has never sounded better, thanks for doing this one matey

Haven't seen this before. Wow!

@@shaundgb7367 Yes, as i said, Cold Chisel have always been big in Germany and it was their main destination when they toured Europe.

Great version with the instrumental breaks. Love them.
First time seeing this version - killer live as always.
Love the broken down change up at the start then off to the mad house.
Love how Jimmy’s dressed in a woollen jumper and a polo shirt like he has to nip out for an hour to the shops on the weekend.
I thought that was pretty funny.
Great song this one. Another good song of theirs is "Misfits." I don't think I've ever seen a reaction on that one.

PS this concert is nearly 2 hours long
Do yourself a favour Greg and watch this song on the ‘last stand’ version, it’s so good!!, jimmy playing around with the audience is hilarious 🤣

Sorry, I did not like this Greg. I loved it.
