I had the immense pleasure of being there at the Ringside concert (well, there were 4 in total). The energy of Cold Chisel is astonishing. Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye) is usually their last song in the set, but the crowd NEVER let them get away with it. Sometimes they save it for their encore, but it is always on fire. Thanks for reacting to this, brought back memories. Damn, I'm both lucky and proud to be Australian.
This song is from 1978, and it still works in this day and age. 🎉🎉🎉 It was a single first, and then appeared on their Breakfast at Sweetheart album released in 1979... You should be able to find many versions....and you were right this was usually their final song. I love it on the 1982 set list of their Germany Rockapalst concert, on Casey Coopers page. On that occasion it was not their final song of the night.
Great song. Been enjoying my journey of listening to some Australian artists. Have a playlist with my reactions to the Australian artists i have discovered so far. Take care!
This was about 4 or 5 years after they reformed in 1998 after breaking up at Christmas 1983. The guy on the guitar is Ian Moss who had a great solo career along with Jimmy check out Tuckers daughter or Telephone booth by Ian Moss on The Keyboard is Don Walker who wrote most of Chisels stuff
Jimmy is on tour again down under . Hes recovered from his heart surgery . His wife and family are often his backing band these days . . All very talented . Johnny Diesel(australian musician) is his Jimmys brother in law
@orlylivne- check out cold chisel from this same concert (ringside) and listen to ‘bow river’ and “when the war is over”, then have a look at cold chisel live in 1983 from ‘the last stand’ tour covering “wild thing”, guaranteed you will absolutely love them👍🏻👍🏻
I think you need to do the following: Cold Chisel - ''Choir Girl nzoz1979'' Just search the song like it's called ''Choir Girl nzoz1979''. The nzoz1979 upload of ''Choir Girl'' is the best you'll get on UA-cam. The upload of said song on Cold Chisel's official channel is in mono. Chisel is not to be experienced in mono. ''Choir girl (nzoz1979)'' is about teenage abortion. Chisel don't take sides on the debate. They just report the pain. Looking like a ''choir girl'' is an analogy to wearing a hospital gown. You'll get it when you hear the song.
WOW ! to hear the SAX and the Harmonica at the end HARMONIZE like a Brass section ......BRILLIANT use of just 2 instruments
The line.." so don't try to offer to drive me to the station..you'll only drive me round the bend."
Thank you!
my favourite line from this song is "play that fucking piano Donald" lol

@@sopwithpuppy I was at the first one! I’ve seen them countless times and this night was up there as one of the best! They were on fire!

The energy! Amazing! Thanks for watching.
Saw Cold Chisel live many times ⏲️, you'd probably like listening to Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner #R.I.P, Simply the best - it was about 11 years ago
Awesome you saw them live. Will add that one to my list. Thanks.
The version of this on ‘the last stand’ is wild indeed with a very heartfelt message from jimmy to us all in the song🤣🤣🤣
Need to find that one 😀
You need to do Goodbye and Don't Let Go together. The last 2 song on The Last Stand set list. The band is saying goodbye.
Legend band 👏
💯
Yes it was at the end of last stand concert
Thanks for letting me know!

I saw that on X. Awesome he is recovered and doing what he loves.
It was you don't need to drive me to station, you will only drive me around the bend! Drive him crazy in other words.
Oooh! Thanks for shedding some light on that.
barnes should have pounded ONE high note on dons solo !!! Over and over again
Very cool! Like it ❤
Very famous in Australia. Been doing it for 5 decades i believe.
@@SaeedReacts. Almost same generation, but nice to know "new one" . I grew up with other Rock groups

Hound Dog
Letter to Allan
This is the best live version I've seen. It starts off slowly but roars home like a steam train. ua-cam.com/video/7SKIvq6i96g/v-deo.html
