Composing drums for polyphia is a feat in of itself. The music/timing sounds so abstract it takes a special talent to pull it off like clay. It's seamless for such awkward rhythm.
As a drummer myself this guy is one of the best I've seen in a good minute he's a innovator no doubt it's gonna hard as hell to copy any of their work period
right now in the world, there is no cure for cancer... time travel is not possible... cold fusion is just a dream... all of this because Clay chose the drums instead of science. the man's a genius.
This guy is an absolute beast on drums. I think he’s a bit underrated, simply because Polyphia is more so loved for its guitar. But this dude can play! I’d love to see Larnell Lewis cover this song also. Bet he’d crush it.
In this case, the O.D. stands for "Oh Damn"! Great playing, as always, Clay. You're the perfect complement to the complexity and musicality of Polyphia.
@@FanaticDrummer Agree! And at the same time it's so exciting to be alive in this moment where both drummers and drum makers are in such a high level! We have good stuff for ages... long live to our beloved instrument!

this dude seriously has the nicest fucking cymbals. all he's missing is a matt halpern stack and some machined pedals to make his kit worth a brand new car.
Polyphia is always at its best when the drums in the mix are natural, this sounds so great.
the sound of the drum is bothering me idk why
They don’t sound nearly this good live. The problem is you need excellent audio to capture the depth and that’s not there live
@@RyanABC123 their sound guys are really not good
I wish the hi hat was a little bit louder.
Likewise.
Yeah the drumming is impressive and all, but the fact he played a whole song in a sweatshirt with the sleeves down is even more impressive

one of the few drummers that aren't used as a metronome and used as an instrument. what fucking talent this band has as a whole.

Same, Guitar but mingle in drums a bit, and everything this guy plays just feels so unique and interesting in it's own way
Sounds like you're in love.
I am a drummer and feel the exact same way. Clay is an absolute machine and has a very sharp groove to his style that I really admire.
Dude with someone as good a clay you don't even need play drums to enjoy his playing
He treats the kit like a melodic instrument. It's wild!
I was 100% invested as soon as he hit the "wood" block
it's a jamblock but yeah it's an intense one

This dude is the most innovative drummer right now. Creativity is through the roof.
Aquile priester?
Mike Mangini?
Mike Portnoy?
I love clay but he can’t be compared to the masters.
Check out the drummer Greyson Nekrutman absolutely insane big band jazz drummer he also dabbled into a bit of rock but mostly jazz
Dan Mayo
Matt Garstka.. check him out, your brain will melt.. and I think its better to watch some reaction videos from drummers.
Anderson Paak, Yussefdayes

I can't even program drums as tight as this.
Would've sworn that some of the beats in this song were programmed... but you can't argue with the footage. Every beat accounted for. Man's a GOD!!!
he's actually the singer too they just forgot to give him a mic. You can even see him singing.

this mans hi hat work is so got damn impressive
The amount of rythm section skills in the world is unfairly distributed over too many Clay's......
Love this song, Clay's drumming fits it so well! Was a little disappointed he didn't play the breakbeat at the end though
yeah i dont think brandon fits to the new style of music in polyphia
Man, this subtle drop at 2:20 is so fucking good.
His drumming is incredibly sophisticated, I freakin love it!
Clay is a beast! I love his drumming. Polyphia is such a stacked band. Each member is so damn good at their instrument.
this guy is a beast. never a wrong move. he’s insane.
I love the way Clay play drums. Very creative. Another example that Polyphia isn't only about guitars.
im still waiting on that 40 oz drum playthrough lol

I'm a guitarist and this playthrough made me want to learn drums too
This playthrough is pure gold 🔥
2:42 that was NASTY

that triplet on the woodblock at 0:40 is the heaviest shit I've ever heard
Lol true
Man I never thought someone could take the pacing sound from marching band and make it so god damn cool
I don’t think people realize how much the drums are part of Polyphia’s sound. Both the Clays do an excellent job
This band is just fucking insane they're incredibly good at their respective instruments and the arrangements are just so fucking tight
