Theoretically, you can get a kill with every single (non backpack) weapon in TF2. You just need some good Rock Paper Scissors RNG.

Id say post round kills are perfectly legit since it encourages you to actually want to win matches for easy kills instead of what basically amounts to trolling the shit out of your team by kill binding after every other kill you get

Exactly, it provides an incentive for actually playing the match if you need a "Get out of Jail Free" card if you're doing really badly with a given weapon. Even then, it's not really a "Get out of Jail FREE" card because you are by no means guaranteed to get a post-match kill if you can't find anyone in the few seconds before the round resets.

It's probably not feasible to have legit speedruns because of the nature of the game (I mean just look how many problems Fish had to play this and still his run doesn't really count). Unless a solid category without so many issues can be created, tf2 speedrunning will remain a meme. Having said that, maybe there are interesting meme run ideas out there, like teleporter kill % or something like that lmao

It's Summoning Salt intro music, not really generally used by other youtubers. That's why there was an apology to Summoning Salt in the beginning.
It's in everyone's World Record progression because everyone is making a parody of Summoning Salt, the one that uses those songs in his World Record progression videos.

Well uhh... the start to tf2 speedruns, technically. There's only been small scale things like all spy weapon kills or something like that, if this picks up steam it could be the first actual speedrun category for the game

I love how "We're finally landing" has become so synonymous with record breaking and speed running, along with that specific opening that you just need to hear the first few seconds of it played over gameplay footage and it's an instant "Ah, yes. Speedrunning."

I feel like the main time save in this run is not sticking too strictly to the class order. Instead of trying to get melee kills in a choke point, maybe switch to Demoman. Or if you randomly enter a server with a shitload of Pyros, maybe go straight to the Sun on a Stick.

The pure amount of pain, suffering, and victory from this. I was there this stream. Seriously this was everything he said pretty much. Hella cool end with Spy. Many of us started cheering Fish on at that point given his luck with Spy.
1:24 Weapon reskins in TF2 have always seemed like a strange case to me. On one hand if you like how a weapon works but hate hate it looks it’s nice to have an alternative option.

You could’ve technically didn’t have to do The Shovel, fire axe, bottle, fists, bonesaw, and kukri because their all reskins you only had to do 1.
i mean, the fists do have the secondary fuction of being able to swing your other fist

Casual% is practically impossible, it’s far too luck dependent on dodging hackers and being in a location that has decent player counts at fright times
It would be one of the most brutal RNG hellscapes in speed running… uncle% would be the main ran record
It could work if in Casual% time only counted when in a "valid server" (max 1 bot per team, atleast 9 players on each team)

12:28 the gas passer contract taught me that it's indeed not too difficult to get a kill with the gas passer. The main problem the weapon has is it's very long charge time, just to get a below average effect.

Great vid! I actually ran the casual% run a while back, and got a pretty decent time. Definitely agree with separating the runs and moreso focusing on community server speedruns in the future (casual servers are painful to deal with due to the hackers / empty servers). Also, I feel the pain with the pyro class... the thermal thruster in particular (the successful landings that didn't kill hurt my soul)

I think it’d be more consistent for timing to start on the first match that *starts* with the runner in a team; it’d prevent time loss from joining too late into an ongoing game and would allow for a better start by swapping to a more active/non-bot server during the pre-round.
I completely support the concept of Uncle% as its own category. Great job, Fish 💜
What I love about this is the fact that some of TF2’s weapons are so broken, getting a kill with them is a CHALLENGE (looking at you bison)

i tried this challenge about a year ago and got a 3 hour time, granted i did not think to include the thermal thruster, and did not repeat stock melees, but it was still fun
I actually think that the time-saving in valve servers versus Uncle topia is actually warranted especially since as you said since random crits do not exist it's even more skill-based
