I've never seen Tennis like this from anyone! This level of power, finesse, creativity, athleticism and grace is unmatched by any other player in my opinion. And this includes Federer, McEnroe, Alcaraz, Djokovic, and Del potro! Dustin Brown is a tennis enigma. A genius! I just wonder how fast those groundstrokes and returns were? I am thinking possibly 110 mph perhaps? And the finesse and control of the ball at the net would even make prime John McEnroe proud. But then the obvious question. How does a player with so much talent lose too much lesser opponents? I guess that's why he is a tennis enigma.
Forget highlights and watch him play a full match. Tons of unforced errors and poor shot selection. When it all comes together, sure, he's frighteningly good; but that requires a convergence of so many disparate elements that it's much more likely you'll get the error-prone version.
@@grimson yes, well said. I have watched a few of his full matches including against Nadal but his typical matches are full of bad shot selections and errors. It's easy to overlook that fact when focusing on his more memorable matches. So yes you are totally correct!

This was the time when Nadal returned serves from a normal distance away from the baseline. Later on he would pioneer the return of serves 10 miles behind the baseline.
Actually i think he started out farther out and then moved closer. A clay court style of returner. The last several years he will vary his return position based on the court, opponent or whether he is feeling confident
Makes you wonder how Nadal would've done back in the days when serve & volley was the norm. Not that he has a bad net game, but short 2-4 shot points don't really fit his game.
To be fair, this is grass, his weakest surface. Hard courts and on clay, he would eat Brown up. And that’s 3 out of 4 grand slams. So Nadal would have done just as well back in the day too. Plus, it’s Nadal man, one of the goats. Of course he would have done well no matter the era.
The kind of performance very hard to sustain over the season, a big win here then nothing afterwards, nadal on the other hand lost this one but won many titles afterwards. Tennis is about odds and key is to keep odds high throughout a season and a career. GG here Dustin nice one !
Second Set: When Dustin Brown goes God-Mode oder Berserk-Mode ;-)… in 2015 Wimbledon he did it again with Nadal. Perhaps it’s the way Nadal plays what fits to Browns Game. Dustin Brown has this insane skills but he seems not be able to bring it on a constant level. Especially on longer rallyes. Too often he chooses short stops and slice at wrong moment… But I love his game…

One of the most talented players ever to play the game...not one o the best, obviously, but his pure talent was ridiculous when he was on. Imagine a doubles match with him, Kygrios, Bublik & Monfils! That might be the best entertainment on a tennis court you could hope for in terms of creative shot making, power & finesse.
Literally the worst match up Nadal could have on his least favourite and least successful surface (grass) Playing a black Federer/Sampras hybrid with the power of Del Potro
He was pretty much always around for years, just never that consistent. Past peak Rafa wasn't the best after coming from clay. Even Muller, Rosol, & Darcis beat Rafa at wimbledon... still glad somehow Rafa got it together for 2018 & 19 wimbledon to go deep again. But Brown was a better fit for doubles play & did before he retired, even if he could play his heart out in singles sometimes Edit: actually he's not retired apparently, but still he's 38. Not going to make strides in singles any longer, but in doubles maybe Still heck of an entertaining tennis player, was one of my favs. But look at say Monfils vs Brown roland garros, he gets crushed.
