Gear I use for backpacking and filming is mostly purchased from craigslist boulder and thrift stores. I shop in these areas for outdoor gear because the people in this area update their gear every year and have good money, so I try to find last years gear for cheap in areas like this.

My beautiful state! I am from the
(Montrose CORA) Native American Tribe from western Colorado.👍🏾
Is that the Cora that are originally from Mexico
@@RyksVideos Yes but we been in Colorado since the 1890s. My grandparents were born in Grand Junction Colorado in the 1910s..
Home of the child trafficking doctor Eric Howard Silverstein now living in Broomfield Colorado
I grew up in Northern California and now live in Texas. I miss the Sierra Nevada's so I started visiting Colorado which is amazing. I have been back there every year for my vacation for the last 5 years and I am always in awe of the beauty every time I go. If you are able to live in some of these area's mentioned you are truly fortunate. I read some of the comments below and well tourism is a double-edged sword for sure,..on the one hand many of these small communities get ALOT of thier revenue from people visiting their beautiful space However, .I get the animosity created out of living in a beautiful area and then suddenly you are either priced out or find yourself overwhelmed with tourists who don't have the same care and respect for your space.
Yeah, its is crazy to deal with that.
On the rare occasions that I get to smell fresh lilacs, I am transported to my childhood in Grand Junction.
I love the smell of Lilacs
I grew up in Grand Junction too!!
1. Leadville
2. Alma
3. Buena vista
4. Lake city
5. Gateway
6. Pagosa springs
7. Creede
Add Ouray, Durango, Silverton.
I cannot believe how rude some of these comments are! It was a great video! Thank you for sharing some of the hidden gems in our beautiful country.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed
Very good video. People are just ignorant.
It’s sad to see how much our state has regressed into a tourist pit. The best parts of living here are essentially gone. (Day drives, privacy)
I'm glad you didn't mention the small mountain town I live in. I won't either!
Yeah, there are some I won't mention and I keep to myself
Haha fr... we gotta keep our secret local spots.
Being a resident of Love land , we surprised to know we are living in one of the beautiful places. Since 1999, I have been living here and we visited most of villages in the state and neighboring places, but we like the places in CO. Thanks for protecting environment and it's beauty for next generations. We have to salute those people. Our responsibility to continue this eco system for future generations too.
I love Creede. It's my favorite town in the entire country.
No... the best hidden town in Colorado is actually invisible.
*laughs in town went off the map in the 1910's and only have 2 neighbors* true that, I even describe where I live and my friends don't even know
@@cooperlistul7599 Ok, that is beyond awesome 😂. May I ask if this is in the USA or in another country (not trying to find you), if I did stumble upon your modern ghost town & you, I would keep my mouth shut. 😀 Sometimes Gems are best left hidden. *Take Care & Safe Travels!*
Yep the ones texans cant find
@@charleschampion4682 loI see soo many Texans here now.... but shush... let's not let them figure where this town is lol
Hello
Beautiful.I love Colorado!
Thank you
Telluride. Ouray. Silverton. Wonderful towns to visit but not so great for living. They are hard to get to and real estate is limited and expensive.
Those are in some of my other videos
I visted telluride, and it was wonderful.
You have to be rich to live in these small towns no jobs
All the small towns are tourist traps...and they all are expensive..if you know anything at all about Colorado....duh!..it is a tourist trap state wide...its their living income...
Most of those haven't been hidden for decades really. Ouray is as original as any tho. Telluride is another tourist trap now days. As to year round living the snow can eg get so bad in Ouray many local business owner leave for winter.
These are all nice places! Great video. Thanks!
Nice vid. I have to say, I am so glad you didn't mention my town 😉
God Bless
Yeah, there are few towns and places I really enjoy and are hidden and I like to keep it that way.
Very good vid. Have been to many of these places.
Awesome video! Saw a lot of my favorite towns.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'm sure the locals love this video...
who cares fuck you bill collins
@@jamyrobbins1086 Who pissed in your cheerios?
Cripple Creek! Manitou Springs, Pagosa Springs, Pueblo.
Wow. The negative comments are astonishing! Face it gang, Colorado is not a secret and it hasn't been for decades. I can't claim to be a native but I lived there for 35 years and raised a family there. Yeah, the tourists may sometimes be a nuisance but they're paying the freight for an awful lot of you. I'm not begrudging the longing for the good old days but I also don't much get your selfishness either. Why should you get to enjoy the beauty and wildness of the state but not others? If it's so bothersome, move to Alaska. Thanks for the video Ryks.
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m happy to say I’ve been to all these places, and they are all wonderful gems. I love my state.
I'm from Colorado born and raised and one of my fave places is devil's head just northwest of Colorado springs
Where’s a place to live in Colorado that has mountains lots of land close to schools and stores ???
@@morlosloan7488 ur gonna need more parameters
@@morlosloan7488 Newark, New Jersey
As a Colorado local, thanks for this video. I don’t get the whole ‘keep everyone out of our state’ argument. Colorado economy is doing very well largely due to transplants and tourists.
Ikr, I think the state if CO does a good job of protecting natural beauty.
Sage Wysocki #same! What part of COLORADO I live in Leadville
Carver Higbee, Glenwood Springs!
Sage Wysocki I live in Broomfield!
"Local" lol probably a transplant yourself. Go home to Cali
That looks amazing you lucky sods !
Im from montezuma Valley. I miss the ruggedness. Life was difficult but worth the view.
Yeah, that is a neat area
Loved Leadville, Buena Vista, Lake City, Salida and Tincup as well as my wife’s home area of Vail and surrounding towns
just from Vail as a home base there was Wolcott Minturn Red Cliff Burns Twin Lakes, State Line , summer drive up independence Pass. Now when I lived in Fort Collins...when I lived in Colo Springs...they get their own lists. Denver was depressing. It was such a long drive getting away from city.
Salida is TOP GUN!
It would be a service to mention that a big problem in many parts of southwestern Colorado we are experiencing drought. That makes water a serious issue, so if anyone wants to move here they should be aware.
Telluride and ouray are easily some of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in my life. And I’ve been to Switzerland and Austria
Estes Park.
Yea, The Million Dollar Highway!!!
Me too. CO is the best!
Great video thanks
Thanks
Woo hoo! I grew up in Colorado Springs. I occasionally miss Colorado.
Great list. Thanks!
Glad you liked it
Excellent filming I love greetings from Barcelona / Spain 🇪🇸♥️
Thank you. Hope to visit Spain someday soon
I live in Colorado I have been to about half of these places all good spots.
I tell you to me Ouray is mind blowing
I like manitou springs.
its a hippy city tbh
Marijuana central
@@andrewfager1713 That incline tho! I wouldn't even need to consider a gym membership if that was nearby
Been to all of them (and many others like Marble) except Alma and Gateway so I'll have to add them to my list. Nice intro vid for those who want to plan a trip to Colorado, but be forewarned, give yourself plenty of time.
Dang, Marble completely skipped my mind when making this list
I have been to most of them. I agree they are hidden gems...
That funky beat though
Nice video especially Leadville coverage. From Pennsylvania, I moved here January 1980, seeking work at the Climax Molybdenum Mine. I worked there twice. In a few weeks, I'll be 65. Please come visit me at the Bookmine located at 522 Harrison Avenue.
Nice
Thanks for putting this video together. I am born and raised in Grand Junction Colorado. You got some good spots on the list.
I also recommend Orvis hot springs outside of Ouray, if you’re into Clothing optional places. You can add strawberry Hot Springs outside of steamboat as well.
And finally if you’re on the front range Evergreen and Morrison are two very cool little towns just outside of Denver.
Been in parachute working on underground cables. Go to grand junction all the time. Colorado Is beautiful
Eric Howard Silverstein Broomfield Colorado held auctions selling stolen human embryos attended by elders of the Mormon church and many high ranking Colorado officials including Jared polis
I have been living in Idaho for over five years and I enjoy hiking alot.
I feel like Colorado will be my next destination in the very near future.
Looks like great place to live if you enjoy the outdoors.
Wow GORGEOUS!!!! 😍
Thank you!
@@RyksVideos Your welcome keep the awesome videos coming 😊 I have subscribbed to your channel ....
Creede and the surrounding areas have some absolutely breathtaking views.
Also you forgot Carbondale & Glenwood Springs, CO. Truly beautiful hidden cities in CO. Some of these cities aren’t that hidden and pretty big lol
Yesh, I pit Glenwood springs in another video
I’ve visited G. Springs twice, and enjoyed rafting in the river, soaking in the pools and hitting local restaurants. Hope I get a third opportunity to visit!
357 Killerlane I found Glenwood Springs to be a tourist trap. I’m sure there are great places outside of the city.
Carbondale he missed!! One of my favorite towns in colorsdo
@@mhe8545 New Castle is a short drive away from GWS, and it is a little gem of a town. I grew up only 7 miles away from New Castle (in Silt)
I've been to all of them and love them!! Especially Leadville. Great video!
I’ve been to many of the hikes at the end of the video. Ice lakes being my favorite 😁
Ice lake is amazing
I can't believe you didn't include Ouray! It's known as the Switzerland of America. Telluride, Aspen, or Wolf Creek.
Silverton is also really cool!
@@gracefisher9876
I agree. Love Silverton.
shhhh, don't let anyone know...you don't need it to become overloaded with a bunch of overbearing people...we have lived in 8 towns now that have become overcrowded with people because they heard what a great place it was to live!
Berta Herndon Aspen is already like that...
@@BertaHerndon2015
I'm sure you're correct. Native-born people from large city neighborhoods will continue move to small towns as immigrants take their place. Immigrants normally end up large cities because low-skilled jobs and public assistance are available there.
I lived in Buena Vista for a while, I absolutely loved it.
Great vid as always. I’m surprised ouray didn’t make the list.
Yeah, I think i put it on a list.. but I didn't have that much footage of it... oh well it is nice to keep some places a secret... if you can call Ouray a secret.
I spent summer of 2017 in Ouray. Nicest people, and a sweet town! Only thing I didn't love was everything was uphill! No matter which direction you were walking! Lol, seemed like it anyway..;)
@@RyksVideos you have no right to use the word secret...all your doing is exploiting colorado towns from afar and using stats from wikipedia...your a clown. Back to the front range with you!!!!
@@f.m.1808 I have every right to use whatever words I want to and if you must know I am a native, and live in ansmall mountain town. Growth and migration is part of life, always will and always will be.
I feel like Ouray isn’t “hidden” enough though. Ouray is an amazing location though, especially going up Red Mountain Pass.
I live in Colorado we don't need more people in our small towns shh🤫
Lmao who wants to live in Colorado?
Graham DiMatteo Yeah tell this dude to STFU
Life in most these towns is already miserable because of the tourists. Lived in pagosa, snotty southerners outnumber the locals
Tourists can't possibly be any worse than all your bumass pothead locals.. I've been going to Colorado every summer and winter for 30+ years. Never met a single local who was unwilling to accept my money lol.. If it wasn't for us, your little towns would've been all but abandoned many decades ago, like so many of the ghost towns around Colorado. Tourism is practically the only industry in many of these towns. Keep that in mind, ya self-righteous snobs. We are your source of income. You're welcome.
Jouse Martinez well Martinez, you have to see it to understand it
Granby was a great small town back in the 70's,passed thru back in 99 and it had seemed to have lost its charm but grand lake was super nice.
I love Glenwood springs
Love the pool
Have visited many of these towns touring on my motorcycle. I live in small town Alabama never have enjoyed big citys 😎
I live in Bama also, but I have lived in Pagosa springs before and been all over Colorado its breath taking
@@joelteague8032 I use my cabin here in north west Alabama as a home base no family fell in love with the Road at a early age have traveled all over the US. I use Alabama as a home base because for the most part winters are mild an its one of the cheapest states to live in 😎👊
Great videos
Thanks
Lake City also has the largest natural lake in Colorado, Lake San Cristobal.
Second largest natural lake, the largest is Grand lake in Grand county. Just was in Lake city this weekend. Not a bad little town, I've been camping and 4-wheeling there for 20 years. I support OHV's
ولاية رائعة جميلة جداً و تنعم بنوع من الهدوء ، الفيديو يستحق مليون لايك.
You keep doing you man, every video I see you do people comment on how you should stop posting videos like this but honestly, no one is entitled to any land. Except Natives of the land. People will always travel and visit new places, otherwise we would never have made it to the Americas in general. These videos are great, thanks for posting.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed them. It's just a very small and very loud minority that speak against these videos
Yeah i enjoy the wild and thats why alot of peole are there but tourists bring alot of trash and they think its ok to leave it in our ditches and streams
If the truth be known nobody owns any land you just are leasing the land. Dont pay land tax one time and see how fast they take it from you.
I as a Colorado native am fine with people visiting our state so long as they respect land but they don't they leave trash everywhere and they destroy natural landmarks some of which have had to be closed to the public so now none of us may enjoy them.
Exactly! And, yes.... visitors, *please* be respectful of our natural wonders. Stay on trail, put campfires out completely, don’t toss lit cigarettes, leave graffiti or carve initials, carry out your trash, etc. Alpine areas above treeline are particularly fragile.
Born in Leadville, except for Gateway and Pagosa you're right. Went to school in a log cabin at Creede
That's cool
Remember our State Motto: Keep Colorado Green, Bring Money.

I love Colorado! I spent a few summers working in Marble, Colorado. Not one inch of Colorado is disappointing.
Ever been to Craig?
@@mankokennewick5802 Nope! Not yet!
Pueblo and Trinidad are shit holes
@@stus2159 I can vouch for that... Pueblo is a mega shithole with the highest rate of teen pregnancy in Colorado the end a man who wrote the book on pedophilia. I live in Pueblo unfortunately, native of Denver and can't wait to go back. Heard some really bad stories from people living in Trinidad about the issues they have in their town.

I went to Fairplay CO. I live at sea level normally. I went in a store and all the chip bags were all ‘blown up’. Just seemed weird to a flatlander!
RollinRat - LOL, I live at 9,000 ft. and sometimes the bags explode in my car as I drive up from the store below. Sounds like a gunshot! Scared the crap out of me the first time! Btw, to those of us in the mountains, people who live below 6,000 ft. are all “flatlanders”. 😉
i make the mistake of bringing some windows from Idaho when we moved to Buena Vista. all of them ruptured. luckily it was only 3 :)
The people who live in the flat lands think us "hill" folks are nuts. Ridgetop song by Jesse Colin Young.
Leadville great little town, taken over by Leadville 100. The crowds are RIDICULOUS.
Alma, its a blink and you’ve missed it town
Buena Vista, hot springs
Lake City yet to visit
Gateway yet to visit
Pagosa Springs, hot springs, resorts, overpriced
Creed, isolated, mines

Nice drone work, great tips on towns. Thanks for sharing the insight.
Thanks for watching
South Park is based off of the ghost town in Fairplay...
Thank you!! Fairplay is decked out in Southpark stuff
Ghost town? We drove through Fairplay and camped up in the mountains nearby. I saw a lot of houses and people living there, even went in the store, but no ghost town. Where is it? Ive found quite a few ghost towns in the California and Nevada deserts and old mining sites in the Sierras. Exploring by 4wd, motorbikes or mountain bikes is lots of fun! Me and my friends have even found a little gold!
South Park is the name of the geographical area called South Park where Fairplay Colorado is located. There has never been a town called South Park here in Colorado. The creators of the show South Park came from Fairplay.
@@mtntopviking the creators were not from Fairplay. Trey is from Conifer, about 45 minutes to the east. I lived just outside of Fairplay, but sadly moved to Texas on the morning of 9/11
@@BrianKrahmer OK. I was mistaken about where you came from. Sorry. I was raised in Salida and traveled thru South Park many, many times. I hated it during the winter with the wind and sometimes blizzard conditions! I love the show, South Park!! Very well done!!
