Im a Coloradan. Never had heard of the "Paint Mines". Been east of the Springs. Was a secret til now : ) Thanks!!
Louis Weinhold the Paint mines are epic. I’m glad people don’t know about it
Eastern Colorado is just as breathtaking as the west. Lots to explore!
Thank you for promoting our wonderful state. However, it’s properly “Bishop Castle”. Jim was known for making sure if he heard folks saying “Bishop’s”, he’d correct them. In honor of his hard work-I think we should make sure we say it right. 😉
It's easy not to notice all the interesting places near where one lives.
Carpe diem
i love crestone. stayed at crestone zen center, incredible time for anyone looking to engage in that practice in a peaceful and really heavenly place. Moving there in my van for while this year!
Colorado is more than interesting, Colorado is paradise! I’ve been on a Rocky Mountain High for years now, ever since I visited Rocky Mountain National Park.
Was paradise till Californians moved here and started implementing their B.S. laws here.
Such a beautiful state, it's a tragedy all the good people moved to Utah or Texas to flea the ones who are currently here. Calirado just isn't the same :(
You forgot Boulder. Boulder is the weirdest place in Colorado.
I wish I could forget Boulder. Boulder just sucks and feels like it needs to let everyone know how weird and quirky.
Such an awesome video bro! You just added a few new stops on my next Colorado roadtrip🤙
The San Luis Valley is inside a Military Operations Area, so many aircraft frequent the area at low to high altitude and often those aircraft have no markings on them, or are painted in markings designed to mask their exact shape.
I haven't seen much out of you in awhile! Keep bringing the good vids bro.
I have been busy filming thus summer. One should be uploaded in 5 minutes.. a little different and a bit longer than usual tho
I love Colorado, it's a little cold to live there but visiting I enjoyed it.
Great rundown of places near Colorado Springs, but as many of the other comments say, the rest of Colorado has strange places as well. I would suggest CO HWY 14 "The Ghost Highway" where strange things just happen. Leave Ft. Collins and head out to Sterling, there is an energy along that road that isn't "normal". There is also the town of Stout, CO, located at the bottom of Horsetooth Reservoir. Also near Ft. Collins, and since you put Bishop's Castle on here, the Swetsville Zoo is another stop you have to make. And what about The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park? Inspiration for Steven King's The Shining, and known to be haunted by locals and people that work there, it should be added as well. And although not particularly strange, certainly unique, Casa Bonita and Linger's Eatuary are must go to places to enjoy some food and take in the experience.
I use to live right by the paint mines they’re amazing
I live here, great job and there is so much more for you to see.
Thanks. Yeah I have been doing a ton of backpacking this summer.. just so I can capture the best backpack trips.
I was just at the sand dunes in the valley for my birthday this past Sunday. There is definitely a lot of energy in the valley it's a special and beautiful place. Largest valley in the world.
Amazing!!!!!!
It's vortecies, not vortexes. Great videos. I'm from Colorado and I love it here!
As a Geographer I love this… Thanks for sharing. I’ve been to Bishops castle and I have a paint mines video on my own video channel… But I learned a few new things here… What is the tunnel at the beginning of your video?
I've lived in Colorado my whole life and Bishop castle is the only thing on this list I've even heard of.
You forgot the grand mesa on the western slope, where a cryptic thunderbird used to live on the mesa, Cheyenne mountain, highway to hell in Denver co, rifle caverns, the four corners, the black forest by Colorado springs, cripple creek, and more
Hashcough710 I definitely wanted to get a couple of them in this video, but it is just me filming. Also some are in other videos, like the rifle caverns I belive are in waterfalls, or at least mentioned
Living so close to grand mesa makes me forget how amazing it is sometimes lol
Yep, I remember seeying it for the first time as a kid when I moved here. I was awestruck at just how massively beautiful it is! Not to mention how it looks (to me) like a jewel when it is lit up by the sunset, seen from the GJ side.
My family and I used to go to the gator farm all the time! My dad wrestled them and then we’d all sit on the back of it to take family photos!
The UFO Tower is nothing short of a dumping ground.
Paint mines are great. Went there last year.
I've live just north of the Springs 30 some years & I've never heard of the Paint Mines. I just moved away from the front range & now I hear about it.
This was awesome! In the intro to your video you "drone" through a cave in the rock. Is that in CO too? If so, where? Thanks so much!
Thank you. These tunnels are part of the old Midland Railroad next to a canyon near Manitou springs... or Colorado Springs. They are up above the highway.. look for them as you drive through the canyon.
@@Owmarsh12 Nope. Highway 24 heading west to Woodland Park would be to the left of the camera frame.
The strangest thing is in the San Luis valley, is the "alamosa sand dunes" geologists don't know why it formed
My mother is from grand junction. I live in louisiana and always wanted to travel to Colorado. Havent been there since i was 2.
I love in Delta, which is really close to Grand Junction. It’s an amazing place to live!
i passed by the ufo tower on my colorado road trip this summer.
I’ve seen all but the gator farm and crestone ig I have 2 new places to visit!
Strange I've lived in Colorado my whole life yet there's still so much I haven't seen
That intro looked like the tunnels off of highway 24, also RIP to the America shrine on the way to Buena Vista on 24 as well.
Colorado has become a dope den. I would go there every year for a month and last time was twenty five years ago. I will never go back.
I've lived here a decade, and my parents moved here 4 decades ago. It's not what I see when I go out each day.
Ive been to bishops castle plenty of times (even the top) but never knew it was built by one person, dam.
I'm sure some days he had help from friends or family.. but yeah he built it
I lived in Colorado for almost 16 years now and i haven't heard of these
I was watching my video top 5 things to do in Colorado Springs that led me to this video
The sand dunes are pretty strange and majestic. Just a bunch of sand, more than you would imagine to be in a random place by some mountains.
The paint mines would be a great spot to find geodes
I lived in calhan, about 5 minutes down the road from the paint mines. Terrible spot to find geodes
I’ve been to the UFO Tower. Great place.
You should add Garden Of The Gods! It’s beautiful, yes it’s a theme park but how the rocks are formed is just amazing😍 I’ve been on the Independence Pass and I almost threw up it’s crazy look up Independence Pass, CO and Garden Of The Gods CO.
I love independence pass... I should if put in my best drives in Colorado video... and Garden of the Gods would have been a good one
I have been to a lot of these places... Colorado is unique..
another interesting place is the stations of the cross at San Luis … The oldest town in Colorado as well. I have a video on it on my channel.
Nice, yeah I have a video of that area as well, being the oldest town in Colorado. That is a neat area
:06 where is this and how easy is it to access?
You forgot about adidas rock off the Colorado river, I saw it a few weeks ago.
They left hub caps and spongebob toys to connect their energy to vortexes? makes perfect sense.
"On weekends, the dragon breathes fire." So does Jim Bishop (reported in fondness).
Yes, I believe it still does breath fire. Maybe not during this fire ban.l, bit Jim Bishop has been in bad health latley, so.i don't know if he comes out that often anymore..
Jim is a very opinionated man! Hope he isdoing well, heard he was having health problems a few years back.
The castle is amazing. Ave seen it about 50 times in my life
He built the Dragon out of donated stainless steel food trays.
If you get him talking just plan to be there a while, but he is an amazing guy.
I’m a Colorado native!
Congrats, there's probably only like half a million people who can make that claim. What a dumb comment.
Do you have a video like this of Nevada?
No, I live in Colorado, so I mostly get just Colorado and some of Utah. The closest thing to Nevada is one video on a amazing canyon off the Grand Canyon called Havasu. Amazing place! ua-cam.com/video/5EGO6JLc1IA/v-deo.html
Where is that very first place filmed? Like that huge cave tunnel?
It's a old railroad tunnel near Colorado Springs, along the highway in the canyon, going up.. it might be trespassing to go there now I hear... but idk
Well being from Aurora,CO. these places are unique and not strange.
I have lived in Colorado my whole life and haven’t even heard of most of these places.
I guess that’s what I get for not being a tourist who only visits for the view, and because I live here.
I live here and haven't even heard of some of these places.
Where can i find the initial shot of the tunnel?
It is on the way out of Colorado Springs heading west, past Manitou springs.. it is above the highway on the south side. The old railroad
New freind here stay connected always back
Bishop Castle, done... Paint Mines, done... Pikes Peak, done...and some other nice places .
Georgetown loop
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃take that train when the Aspen leaves are gold 🍁it's a memory you'll cherish forever
Spare us all the spiritual/new-agey mumbo jumbo. But the castle and paint mine do seem cool.
I'm just telling you what they believe... you take it how you want, you can believe in what they think or think they are crazy. It makes no difference to me.
This is an Under Cover San Louis Valley promo video! Bishops Castle Is Awesome!!! Beyond that, the whole valley and all of the dumpster towns in it are AWFUL. I have lived in CO for 37 years, I wouldnt waste more than a half day here at MOST!
Well there is a lot if strange stuff in that valley. Check out the paint mines?
I want to go to Crestone!!!!
..strange cuz of the peeps? I totally wanna go there to soak up the vibe...
I live in Colorado
lived here all my life, been to all of these seem like they attract the weird of society, proof loons have been taking over Colorado for years.
My town is kinda interesting. Every year we hold a festival celebrating a headless chicken and we have a giant statue of a dinosaur that eats the grinch every Christmas.
Here in Aurora we got something called 'Hearse con'. Because what's better than a car show dedicated to some of the sexiest cars around?
Colorado used to be the most awesome state in country, and had such a cool vibe. Now its beginning to suck. Too many Californians moved in and brought their stuck up attitudes and politics with them. It's gotten so expensive as well. It's still a nice state but becoming more crowded every day and changing for the worse. Any popular hike near Denver on a weekend is like a freaking conga line, and the ski resorts are a zoo. I'm thinking of moving to Montana. It's still like how Colorado used to be 20 years ago and arguably even more beautiful.
Shit looks like the next elder scrolls game lol.
I've been to the alligator farm and UFO watch tower. I went there in the same day, as well as the sand dunes. But the strangest place in Colorado is Colfax Avenue, which I live 5 blocks from.
Fletcher Lucas
Lol someone tried to sell my friend cocaine on a bus on west colfax, we were both teenagers
Oot spagoot that's why you don't ride the 15, 15L, 16, or 16L. Ride any other bus.
I just ate ethiopian food on Colfax... holy smokes that is some really good food!
90 UFO sitings ... of Denver aircraft arrivals !
You should have added something about the lake Loch Lomond monster
Ryks Video it's easier to go up the back side and come down from the top...... if you four-wheel that area you will probably run into it
The holy valley says
" baca grande "
the big cow??🐮
I love crestone! My friend lived up there very Religous
Head to southwest Colorado and hit up skinwalker road.
@@RyksVideos there's some some crazy shit that goes on around here. Locals may not talk about it but if you find the right people you'll get an answer. Most people around here won't even say skinwalker, it's bad karma.
I mean, I'm sure the land has good vibes and all, but... I'm prrrretty sure it was the grants.
I'm from the San Luis Valley
3:11 Where is this highway?
A Nony Mouse this is highway 17 taken north of Moffat facing south. Kind of near the town of Crestone
Thanks for the reply! It looks incredibly expansive. My boyfriend and I are taking a road trip this summer from Florida to the West, and I look forward very much to Colorado.
A Nony Mouse That sounds fun! I hope you enjoy Colorado. If you need more ideas where to go I have some other videos out, like the best waterfall, alpine lakes, ghost towns, and beautiful places. This weekend I will put out a video, the three best highway drives in Colorado.
Colorado 17 is a weird road. It seems to go on forever, especially going south.
Black canyon is amazing tok. Least visited national park but has deepest steepest canyon in North America. Check out my videos on that.
Check out this Colorado based outdoor clothing company starting up here www.rijksclothing.com
Also map of Colorado and everything awesome in the state at www.ryksvideo.com
Congrats!!
