Gear I use for backpacking and filming is mostly purchased from craigslist boulder and thrift stores. I shop in these areas for outdoor gear because the people in this area update their gear every year and have good money, so I try to find last years gear for cheap in areas like this.

Born and raised in Colorado, currently serving abroad in the Peace Corps. God, I miss home. Your videos make me feel like I'm not so far away. Even heard of some new spots I'll have to check out when I make my homecoming. Thanks. :)
Love Colorado! By far the most beautiful state i have ever lived in!
It’s okay but a really dry state not to much fun
Colorado Native!!! #Best state ever!
@@yokii999 What exactly do you mean by that?
@@kurtjohnson4816 I’m saying it’s not the most fun of a state, Like it’s city is not as good as others, the only thing we are known for is only the rocky mountains and skiing
@@yokii999 be lucky you even _have_ mountains haha! i’m from illinois
The most beautiful place on earth...Colorado. I listened to John Denver sing about it when i was a teen, then I grew up and discovered Rocky Mountain National Park. Wonderful!
Wow I never realized how beautiful Colorado is !! Road trip time
Mesa verde and the Colorado Plateau region is also pretty spectacular, and a wonder of the world.
There's one thing about Vail that I liked...the contest they held many years ago to name a new bridge. The name that won was "Bob."
Some excellent information, thanks for sharing!
Thanksfor watching
Glad to have found your channel! Colorado is the most beautiful place on the planet "for my money". 53 years in Ohio and planning on moving.

Nothing worth seeing in eastern Colorado, the plains?
@@kevinstreeter6943 more recently I have been exploring the eastern side, and there are some neat areas.. or at least interesting... like some canyons, buttes, swimming holes, and places of historical interest
@@coloradonativeguide One interesting place I have been to is the remains of a Japanese-American internment site near the Kansas border. Nothing worth going out of your way for, but if you are in the area, stop by.
You have done the best job of showing the best features of the best state or region of the world. Congratulations and thank you. There is one obscure bit of interest I haven’t seen on UA-cam and that’s the two story outhouse in Crested Butte. If it is still there it can be seen when you walk down the back alley. Unfortunately there are (or were) no tours, but it is good for a laugh. All of you who have seen it, speak up! Thanks again for the best.
Thank you for watching
I'll try to find it sometime
Oh yes we did visit Colorado and we loved it.
Nice
@@coloradonativeguide thank you 🙏
Extremely helpful video! So nice to find the little places that aren’t so crowded or touristy!
I love Colorado. So happy that I was able to visit a high number of these places. I always think I can go back. ❣️
Hello how are you doing?
I used to live in Pagosa Springs the drive from Pagosa Springs up to Wolf Creek Pass Scenic Overlook is amazing!
I moved there (from the the other side of wolf creek pass) to manage a restaurant. Great town till the tourists show up.
If you are ever back in that area go to Pagosa Springs. A lovely town with awesome hot springs and a couple of blocks of lovely shops to wander. A good place to live if you want Colorado living without loads of tourists and traffic.
I love colorado and I'm from colorado. The most beautiful state in America.
Even though I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world these days, this vid makes me miss living in CO. My favorite places were Summit County, and the San Juans; and I still didn't get to explore them nearly enough. My fantasy is to buy an array of little mountain cabins across the state that I could do a yearly tour of, when the aspens are changing.
Yeah, that would be awesome
In summer Vail has wild strawberries growing in the planters that you can snack on while you shop. The most beautiful blue spruce,great skiing. I would say skip Aspen and visit Vail. Colorado Native Pioneer 🍄🦬🌲I Love Lilly Lake.
I honestly love Vail. I have so many wonderful memories there.
I live in Colorado and hadn’t heard of some of these places. Thank you
Your welcome
Same here. Crazy to think these places are in our back yard
I live in Colorado too
Hello from Fort Collins 👋
I also live in Colorado
I live in colorado thank you for showing these places now I can go for summer
Enjoy
Excellent footage of my beloved Colorado! I feel so lucky to live here!!!
Native, born in Glenwood Springs & raised in Gypsum ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic video 👏👏👏
Thank you
@Duke Rose Colorado is an amazing place that was known for its mountains but now it's somewhat known for the legal weed
Hi...I was the press foreman for the Glenwood Post in the 80's. Great place...I fear greatly for Glenwood Canyon, tho, with the wildfire raging there!
Nice video - The Flat Tops are my favorite - I agree with almost everything you said. Golden CO is a fun happy hour town and Vail has world class skiing and snowboarding.
Amazing video and scenes! Subscribed!
Thanks
Very beautiful video! Thank you. Subscribed 🙂
Thanks
ㅣused to live in Corolado. really miss there. There are many fantastic places and good people. Great mountains and snow!!!
Love your videos, inspired me to move deep in the mountains to live off-grid, thanks for sharing. If ever down in eastern San Juan's come visit
I love that area..
Amazing views in the footage! You capture Colorado as well as video can!
Thank you
Omg can't believe you mentioned Leadville that is awesome, I moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado and lived out there for about 4-5 months in Leadville I loved it and want to go back to CO so bad.
Yeah, it's a pretty unique town and there is a lot to do in that area, in my opinion anyhow
I've never heard of "The paint mines" so I appreciate you putting it on my list! I'll have to make trip there and film it. Overall, fantastic list! Thanks for sharing it!
Great video. I'm currently touring by bicycle and Colorado is my next state. You just added a month to my exploring. Thank you
Nice, have fun
Great video! This just inspired me to plan a lot more time exploring Colorado on an upcoming trip. Thanks for the solid info!
Yeah, I hope you enjoy your trip.
Thank you! Whenever we went on our week long trip to Colorado Vail was easily my least favorite place we stayed. Breckenridge is the coolest city I’ve ever been to. Hopefully I end up there some time in my life
Oh man these places are beautiful! Great video :) Definitely going to add these to our itinerary
Thanks
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
Thank you for sharing your video and all the information for the best & most beautiful places in Colorado. For me & my family are wanting to relocate to Colorado & finally leave one of the Worst states ever! This information is extremely helpful for us to determine what area of Colorado to live in and call home. Please keep sharing more videos & information in all areas in Colorado. Replies for suggestions from others are welcome also regarding this beautiful state, but please be respectful. Peace ✌🏼
Just got back from spending August in Colorado and your vid has me wanting to go again...NOW!
Thank you for this video! My family are actually going to Colorado for thanksgiving! I wanted to see what Colorado looks like!
Nice, have fun.. it may be a little colder than what ot looks like in this video
@@coloradonativeguide oh my..
My husband and I are planning to go on a trip here soon and your video helped so much! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed, have a fun trip
Much love from Greetings from Georgetown Colorado!!!!
Fyi: Georgetown is a beautiful & historic town
I do like that area.. especially the burrito restaurant that used to be in Breckinridge.. I can't remember the name of it at the moment
The happy cooker is a favorite in my family! Hi from Golden =^^=
The Paradise Cove swimming hole is in Guffey, 52 miles from Colorado Springs. I had to look that up because watching this video, I was a little alarmed that I missed a place like that which your video gave me the impression was near Colorado Springs, where I lived for several years.
Vail would be beautiful but like you, I was shocked at seeing and hearing the highway when I saw it for the first time. The configuration of the mountains only amplifies the highway sound.
One of the weirdest sites/sights in Colorado I stumbled on one day is the Cresson pit, a gaping man made hole in the earth over 2,400 feet deep outside of Cripple Creek, where they mine for gold. I'm sure there are lots of videos of that on YT.
You did a nice overview of some beautiful places in Colorado, many I never saw.
Glad you liked it. Yeah I have heard of the pit, never been to it... saw the Climax pit on fremont pass near leadville.. I think it is pretty small compared to the gold one.
Colorful Colorado
I live in Colorado. i have been to some of the amazing places you mentioned.
Nice
Finally a good video
Thanks
@@coloradonativeguide you did really good on this video keep up the good work
Love my state! Best damn place in the USA to live. Period. Great footage bud.
Thanks, I agree
Unless u live in alamosa 🥱
@@GMDono Then move my friend. 100's of amazing places to live in this state....
@proud American .....And Texans.
Hi, I'm from Miami, my husband and I are looking to move somewhere else. This video captivated me. Is it expensive to live there?
Great video! I subscribed and liked.
Thanks
Waaaaay more to offer other than dank ass weed! Who would wanna live anywhere else??! Love this video! Glad I live here!
I visit colorado and i love it i love rocks so thank you for telling me these new places
Wonderful video! Just subscribed to your channel. Thank you!!! 😁👍🏼
Somebody needs to do a video on what visitors should do when their vehicles break down in rural Colorado where there is no cellphone service
Is this based on personal experience?
Cool video! I'm a colorado native. Note, south park is based on fairplay. Cook was based on a chef in CU boulder cafeteria.
Thanks
I really enjoyed watching this. Great mix of footage and I do love seeing the old ghost towns of the mining sites. The colours are amazing. What can I say I really enjoyed it thank you 😊
Glad you liked it.
Awesome video, would love to visit Colorado!
Thanks, yeah you should. It is a neat place.
Those places look amazing! Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Vienna!
I often go to Durango, Colorado since this is the nearest where I live. My most unforgettable experience was the Million Dollar Highway where we were stuck in the middle. We didn't continue but instead took a U-turn back to Ouray and stayed in Grand Junction. Thank you so much for this travel guide
I get a small allowance for personal spending, don't forget to plan ahead for the accommodations to explore these places. Yes, it means taking bus routes and sites for overnighters.
I'm a natural climber. I love coming to Colorado.
Mi sueño es viajar y conocer Colorado alguna vez en mi vida, sobretodo El Gran Cañón! Greeting from Colombia
awesome to start off with the paint mines, me and a buddy checked out colorado springs last year and on the way back we stopped there and was amazed, cant believe I never heard about it
I have driven a tractor trailer (53’) on US 550 between Grand Junction and Durango on the 4th of July.
I bet that was fun.. haba
Amazing! Would love to visit Colorado. Never been there. Planning to visit during Fall season. Thanks for this video and giving us an idea on the places to go
Yeah, no problem, glad you enjoyed. I also have a video of the fall colors in Colorado as well
This video is absolutely fantastic. I wish it wasn't so expensive to live there.
Same here, and it's getting worse with the zoom boom
Just moved here and it is so beautiful, but hard for me to drive to some of these places. My fear of heights completely cripples me with anxiety and makes traveling to these beautiful places extremely difficult. I am hoping to try and visit some of these areas soon, I will just have to have my boyfriend drive and be sedated in the back until we arrive 😅
Well that sucks, hopefully you can make it to a few.
Kat, I understand your issue with heights! But as a psychotherapist, I also know that there are ways to manage that fear; and even to overcome it. Find a therapist who specializes in phobias; you'll be glad you did!
South Park is based on Fairplay and there's a little mining town there from the 1800s called South Park City. Some of the houses in Fairplay even resemble the boxy homes in the show.
In Silverton it’s worth noting there is an experts only ski area there called Silverton Mountain. And, if you are in Silverton at the right times of day you might catch the Durango & Silverton narrow gauge railroad train come chugging into town. It’s a neat train to ride, too, if you have the time.
Nice.. I heard that the train will even drop you off in the wilderness of you want.
Love it 2:40 GUY SMOKIN A JOINT , WHAT A GREAT SPOT TO BURN
I woulda been thinking.. O shit they found me!
Bishops Castle looks awesome, that's on my bucket list. Cliff jumping at Green Mountain Reservoir is banned forever unfortunately. There is a lot of places I have never seen in Colorado despite being here since 2004.
Yeah, it's a cool castle. I heard they opened Green mountain back up.. I got sore know people have been jumping from it this year.
I would love to visit Colorado someday
Very good!
Thanks
Indian peaks, Rawah and Mt. Zirkel wilderness areas are my favorites.
I haven't spent that much time in Northern Colorado, but I plan to this year.
Ryks Video bring your fishing 🎣
Brother great content 👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks
You make honeymoon planning an ease. Thx mate.
Nice, it should be a blast here in Colorado
Nice! Most of my videos are in Colorado! Great place to play and live
Love my state great vid sir
Thank you
Love your thoughts on Vail Colorado 😂
Colorado our second home now. Just move here in Florida.
florida is a place for people dumb as fuck or people who do drugs
When you’ve already done most of these things in your first year in Colorado.. 😁🤙🏽 Driving the Million Dollar Highway in the fall was definitely my favorite activity.
Wow, such a stunning video!!
Would love to visit some day! Looks beautiful like BC Canada!
For sure... someday I would like to see BC Canada
Beautiful. Thank You
Glad you enjoyed
Traveled once . . . to Leadvilllle ! Hiked the Collegiate Peaks with Outward Bound, for two weeks. Great adventure. Luckily, was already aclimatized. An believe me . . . at 10,000 feet plus, that's important ! 🇺🇸
That definitely is a neat area
Definitely some Colorado's best looking mountains
Moving to Colorado in the fall, definitely visiting these places.
I don’t recommend moving here
Saucy Splxsh yeah same here. I live in the springs but I recommend you go somewhere else 😉😂
Donovan Gonzales I was just messing around. Colorado’s great, just overpopulated
No love for Grand Junction/Grand Mesa and the amazing desert hikes over on the west slope! Otherwise great vid, but can’t forget the west slope!
Yeah, I recently have been exploring false park, escalante canyon area, mee canyon, and rattlesnake arches.. neat stuff out there. I will be putting some in future videos
Denver Colorado USA ❤️
Thanks! Colorado is one state away. I'd love to visit!
~~~ I just came upon your videos and I love them such a great bunch on videos which you have put them together so nicely thank you so much
Glad you liked them.
Very nice drone footage
Thank you
Nice vid! I just did a vlog of my 3 day trip to Colorado 😎😆✌🏽
Nice, good to see you had fun here
I like how you didn’t mention Pueblo 😂 but in Pueblo’s only defense we have amazing food 🤷🏻♀️😂
The chile and frijoles festival is one of my favorites.
Enjoyed! Very helpful in planning my upcoming trip
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it
Great information . Thank you
No problem, thanks for watching
Been to a few of these places! Love it and planning to do more soon. 👍
Nice!
I am not pro vail by any means, BUT BOOTH FALLS TO BOOTH LAKE is one of the prettiest 10 mile trails you will ever hike!!!!!
I live in Breck and love it although it can get pretty busy at times. I was wondering what are your fav hikes in the gore range? It is less crowded due to no 14ers but it is so rugged and awesome I want to explore there more next summer.
For day hikes, there is willow lakes along with Crater lake.. that is more of a drive, also boulder lake, Buffalo Mountain, and surrounding area, but multi day you van take the Gore Rabge trail.. or as a one nighter or long day hike you could hike from wildernest around Buffalo and over Red mtn pass and into Vail, then hitchhike back to summit.
Your drone work is great.
Thank you
Love your videos! Am inspired to plan a road trip to Ouray and stopping by all those places mentioned. Is there a good blog on what is best route to take. We are retired so no fixed time.. can travel and stay as long and far as we want. Love Colorado!!
I have a video on the most scenic drives in Colorado.. but if you are here for a while just take whatever road you want.. or are curious of.. if you get lost, you will probably find something new.
Out of all the videos on UA-cam about Colorado I added more places to my map from just this one video than all the other ones. I'm a nomad who travels around and loves spending time in the wilderness and hiking. The times I have been to Colorado and hiked I must say, even though beautiful, every trail I've ever been on there was extremely crowded. Do you have any recommendations of trails or areas that are less visited? I like to hike deep in the wilderness and get away from people, hiking with dozens of people on a trail just isn't for me
It's getting harder and harder to find off the path hikes as Colorado becomes more popular. I cam still find hikes in places like eagles nest wilderness and Holy cross wilderness that have no one on them. I can hike 14 miles in and camp on a lake and have that lake to myself.
I can't wait! 5 weeks
Born & raised in Colorado. Folks it's really not as nice as the video may lead you to believe ;-) Nice drone work and well done all around.
Thanks
Amazing video
Thanks
Excellent and very well produced video. Your drone footage is some of the best I've seen. I did have a question about Telluride. Is that a private residence at the top of the falls? If so, do you know who lives there?
Thanks. That building is actually a hydro power generator station for Telluride.
@@coloradonativeguide Thanks. I never would have guessed that.
I have lived in colorado for a while and alough longs peak is fun it is has the highest death rate among fourteeners because of the narrow ledges and steep terrain many people die on this mountian because of lack of experence so please be carefull.
Yup, and it's so popular that when a rock gets kicked loose accidentally and can hit someone below
