- At an elevation of over 10,000 feet, the city of Leadville is the highest city in the United States. It was established in the civil rush of the 1800's and is still a mining town. It's a great place to visit! The main street is charming and has many Victorian buildings. Come along as we share things to do in this town, as well as what we learned. Thanks for watching!

My family is from Leadville! Generations of Ute & Navajo, we have a lot of family still in the area. Great video, love your channel!
Cool, thanks!
Home sweet home. Born and raised. Only 2 seasons here. Winter and maybe one week in August
We play golf, paddle boarding and hiking here 5 months of the year, early May to early November and Ski the rest of the year ! Beautiful summer and fall
Around 2009 I was looking at a job in Leadville. It was such a... tongue in cheek, fun place. They make lots of "high" puns. But the thing that fascinated me while looking for a place to live... No garages! When Leadville has winter it's no joke. I couldn't figure out how they existed without garages. I imagine with humidity being so low, snow could be removed with a leaf blower (i lived in another mountain town) but they get an epic amount of snow when it snows.
Thanks for watching!
The Victorian house by the mining museum was once owned by Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. But, they wanted to be closer to a ski resort, so they sold the house and bought something I think in Telluride.
Wow, that’s interesting. 🤔
I drove up from Aspen through Hagerman Pass to Leadville. (4x4 recommended on that route). Loved the town! Like going back in time. Leadville has one of the highest altitude airports in the country. Some airplane manufacturers have done their winter ops testing there.
It's great isn't it?
I was there in 2019 to visit a friend and unfortunately again in 2021 for his memorial service. Miss you much Ned Taggart!
Sorry for your loss.
I spent time there back in 1979.
I wish I bought some land there back then.
Great video!! Love learning about this town!! 🎉❤
Thanks for watching.
Cool, one of my sons lives in Leadville. I like Leadville, in the summer. Gets cold fast during winter. Or maybe late fall.
Was born and raised in Leadville!
That looks great 😊
It was!
Definitely wouldn’t call Leadville a city, population 2600. No big, overrun resort town. Maybe we should keep Leadville a secret. 😂
It's stupid expensive to try to buy a house there. A quarter of a million dollars for a 1 bedroom tiny house.
Being that the local resort (Ski Cooper) gets only 180" of snow per year, that's probably it's biggest saving grace. If it were a 300 incher like the other nearby resorts, it would've been run over by Vail or Alterra long ago...
Thanks for the video! Gonna visit CO next summer from Germany and we'll stop at Leadville, too. Very excited :)
Hope you enjoy it!
Correction - Ski Cooper is just 20 minutes from Leadville. A small area, but it's where I learned to ski at 4 or 5 years old.
Thanks for sharing.
Highest town in the USA is Alma on the other side of the mountain. Its altitude is 10,361′ over Leadville 10158'.
Thanks for that...you're correct.
@@WereintheRockies Thanks for acknowledgement.
I know that because I went there few days back.
I mean Alma is considered a “town” Leadville is a city due to population & jurisdiction size
❤️ those Leadville views! Leadville does have a ski mountain close by - Ski Cooper. Independent, smaller, family-friendly.
Ski Cooper is none profit owned by the city of Leadville
@@petrsimunek6517 Thanks! I didn’t know that.
I sure hope you went to the Matchless mine. It's well worth it!
What camera do you use to get the beautiful scenic shots from the front of your vehicle while driving. I’m planing a 3 month solo trip and want to get some scenic shots to share with family when I get back. Thanks for any help
We use our iPhone 14 Pro Max. Good luck and have fun!
Ski Cooper just 10-15 min drive away
