Hello, nice review, I was curious if the back window would hit the tent floor or not. A tip for make you like easier when folding down the tent is to connect the bungee cords in diagonal.
I had a soft top when I had this setup, but now having the UM J30 top, I would say the glass doesn’t raise up high enough to hit the bottom of the tent. I haven’t measured anything, just basing it off of my guesstimation of what I remember

This rtt seems quite fiddly. I am looking at moving to a rooftop tent as I am sick of sleeping on the ground. But my tent is much easier to handle than this one, and for something costing ten times that of my tent now, it needs to be more straightforward to set up and put down. Thanks very much for the detailed video, extremely helpful.

The front bar is the one that comes out of the pockets in my tent, not the ladder side.

As an owner of this tent on my overland trailer, it actually isnt. I used to own a tent trailer and i found it took more to setup AND there was additional maintenance. My ARB is 10 years old and still like new.
@@betweenthepines4000 how is the canvas holding in 10 years? I’m thinking in buying this or a pop up camper but indeed the extra maintenance time consuming is a deal breaker… simple-best

One small tear from the first owner, otherwise its still in near new condition. Worth buying ARB or any reputable brand. Highly recommend

I don’t use this setup anymore, but at the time I was using the Smittybilt SRC roof rack. I actually made a separate video about it.
I am not sure about the static or dynamic weight rating, but it held my ARB RTT just fine

@@mccastellanos6510 so the RTT setup was cool, but it was too much setup and breakdown time. If you see my video about my current camper top, the Ursa Minor J30, it’s 30 seconds up and 30 seconds down. My old RTT setup was 10 min up and down, at best. I spent over 100 nights in my camper top last year, do the math and that is hours wasted and it wears on you. Another thing was putting a RTT away in freezing temps is the worst, your fingers will hate you.
Last, it was the high center of gravity weight. The Jeep had sooo much body roll while driving off road, it’s just way too much high center of gravity weight.
Oh, another thing is if your vehicle is lifted, deploying and stowing your RTT sucks that much more.
I think RTT are great for occasional and once in a while use, but for someone like me, who spends easy 1/3 of their year on the road in all seasons, nope.
@Kramer Junction thanks! I see you changed your soft top to a hard top. I am considering that option as well instead of adding a rack to hold the tent
How is the tent on a raining day?
Holds up super well. The gray cover on top is basically an extra rain fly and the opening is well covered to keep the rain off
How do you like having the tent open to the rear, instead of to the side?
beatensane I really like it. It gives me a covered area when I’m cooking out of the back of my Jeep. Also, I have my 8x8 ARB awning coming off my drivers side and En Suite room coming off the right, so it’s the ideal orientation for me. If you check out my overland build walk around video you get a picture of how everything works together 🙌
What kind of roof rack are you running?
Harrison Hartog if you go back through my other videos you will find my best budget roof rack video. It’s just a basic tubular rack from amazon. Many manufacturers sell the identical rack for different price point...TrailFX, Smittybilt, RockHard4x4

Haha doing this process many times over is a big part of why it was easy for me to justify the expense of my Ursa Minor J30 camper top 😂🤷♂️
