Great overview. Doing my research on rooftop tents now that my daughter is into camping. I love how light weight this one is. I could easily take it off of my truck when I need the space.
i had this tent for a year now. only used twice. the big problem is if you have a rhino rack plateform the rail of this tent won't fit perfectly, so when you open the ladder, the bottom of the screw will hit the rack and cause damege to the rack. after purchse the rhino rack relocation bracket, the tent fits pretty well, but it leaves a big gap between the rack and the rtt. if you have a lifted vehicle when you drive above 65mph it feels super unstable and waste alot gas. another thing is when you have the rain cover on at night , its super noisy! i think this rtt is best to sit on the 3 bar stand. other wise its pain to put it on and off.
I heard about this but I don't have that rack so I can't really picture in my mind which screw damages the rack..! Yes, the rain cover can surely be noisy (more fabric blowing in the wind). Luckily I don't have that fuel consumption problem because my car already consumes like a tractor and I can't drive at that speed for long time.! 😁
@@LucaGoesOffroad if you have a similar kind of tent, when you pull out the extend part , under there are few screws . the mpg is not a huge issue, the main issue is the rack bracket for the RTT . it makes the rtt even more taller and leaves a gap between the rack and RTT. so when you on the freeway , its not safe to drive when you hit high wind. i saw some people install a Ikamper and James baroud on rhino rack, with no issues.
Hi, I just discover your chanel and I like so much the way you present the material . So, This tent intersted me a lot but I can see that it's not perfect in bad conditions for a long term travel (raining and wind....). So, now, I will looking your other videos for sure and.......👍👍👍thank's for keeping our oldest Tos and especialy this incredible FJ 40 ! Eric
Thanks for the review! Is there a seal between the hardshell top and the bottom plate? Like a rubber gasket or liner that would prevent elements (dust and moisture) from getting inside while packed down and the truck is going through a sandstorm?
@@MiguelCampo-co6ms Aaaaah yes, of course! I wasn't thinking of that, I live in UAE, we don't even need to lock our cars or our homes, surely I wasn't thinking of locking a tent... 🤣
I don't have experience with the Autohome, you could ask @roadsontheway who has one! The fabric in this ARB is very good but it will get noisy in high winds like every RTT, maybe slightly less if you position the hard shell towards the wind
i’ve had this tent for a couple months used twice i went to take it on a trip and my closure straps failed, they ripped in half and the tent flew open on the freeway, apparently ARB doesn’t produce replacement parts at the moment so unsure what to do
I'm upgrading from ARB Simpson to Esperance. Your review helped me decide. Thank you
@@peterrowed good move! The hard shell tents are soooo much more practical and quick to use
Best review of this tent that I’ve watched. Now I want one!

Thank you very much! Yes, as every roof top tent, it can withstand bad weather but a ground one would be more comfortable!
Looks fabulous 🤩 What a cool FJCruiser, Super Sweet!
Thank you!
Thanks for the review!

Hi! No the folded fabric itself prevents anything from entering
@@LucaGoesOffroad I see! Thank you for the reply, Luca!
Great video! Get mine next week.
You will love it!
Hii! Awesome LC, and a tent top!!! One question, is there some way to secure the tent opening? Or only the 3 straps?? Thanks for the video
Thank you! Only the 3 straps, but they are very strong, never felt that I needed more!
Grazie mille! The problem is that everybody could open the tent when the vehicle is parked 😓

What material is the floor? Is it checkers plate stainless steel?
What is the bracket you used to secure to your car bed? Adjustible height?
@@hoybastien Just a metal frame, nothing adjustable!

My biggest fear
Now I want a tent ⛺️
Ehehehe
I wish they had clear plastic on the rain cover for the star gazing still
I think that clear plastic would become hard and break after 1 season
I’m Gona get one as well 😅
If you live in Dubai and you go to ARB in International City mentioning my name, you get a 10% discount on everything! 😁
