Picard felt the guilt of Jack's death, that gives him the need to look after Wesley, but also a terrible fear of becoming a Father figure and replacing Jack in Wesley's mind.
Picard also felt guilty because he had harbored his attraction to Beverly since long before she married Jack. This was just amplified after he sent Jack on the mission that killed him and Wesley was a painful reminder of it.

Gene Roddenberry added the Q stuff to DC Fontana's "Farpoint Station" * finished script to stretch it 45 minutes as Paramount forced them to change the 60 minute pilot into a two hour pilot movie. Roddenberry has never written a fully original story in his entire career. Star Trek itself wasn't even original. GR was an adapter and remaker. Most TV writers were in the 60s. TMP is a perfect example of hacky reuse with better visuals and same but aging cast. *I still don't know why they went to Farpoint Station and what they accomplished on that mission. Sort of like Luke Skywalker sent to get power converters. That dumb kid never did get them. Typical.

@@pauldavis9387 It's a shame they killed off Rene Picard in Generations. I thought the character would have made an interesting Starfleet officer. I was starting to put together notes and an outline for a fan fiction/novel which featured an adult Rene as a Starfleet captain when they killed him and his father off in Generations. Well, IF you look AT it, the time line WAS altered many times. It was NOT 'restored', just altered enough to achieve the same outcome as remembered by the Enterprise crew! THIS also explains the LOOK of the tech/ships more in the Discovery iteration of Star Trek! This 2nd look at the near classic era Trek, is in THIS 'restored' time line! NO time restorations are ever perfect! Those Borg too , from 24thC were LEFT in the 21st, and revived in the 22nd! So again, an altered time line, not a restored 1. Trek was rebooted FROM 1st Contact on! That inc Enterprise, Nemesis, Discovery AND Picard! JJ Trek was another alteration caused by a different event again!

@@DMSProduktions I totally agree with this assessment. Really, things have been changed rather than restored many times across Trek. Like in "All Good Things" when Picard's obviously told the crew about the original future where Troi died, Will & Worf fell-out and the Enterprise-D didn't get destroyed. So, everything from that point on has been different. The funny thing is that "All Good Things", "The Visitor" in DS9 and "Endgame" from Voyager have all shown the same future Starfleet uniforms. Yet, by the time we actually catch-up to that era in "Picard", they've had totally different uniforms (although the badges are similar). So, that proves things have definitely changed a lot.
The NX theory: yes makes sense. Top Paris: yup on board with that one too. They are clearly the same character The Borg theory: holy crap yes. This makes so much sense. It explains a lot.
I never considered the Borg Theory a theory. I always assumed it was the case. Their focus is technology and not on reproduction. And with different races and different biology you could argue that it is simply too much energy, time, loss efficiency, and resources to produce replacement bio-units. So you farm them instead. The problem with the theory is that the BORG seem to aggressive with their approach. They wipe out entire populations either due to death or body farming. Which can even hamper their own technology growth as the other races simply wouldn't be able to improve their own technology lines to the destruction and population loss from the BORG process. So the BORG simply end up losing in the long run. Additionally, the more BORG cubes they build the more harvesting they have to do. Thus their bio-units have to be replaced with even more farming. Even if you argue that the BORG deliberately jump between societies so as to limit the damage of their farming on the victim society, everything about the BORG indicates they just don't cull the herd and leave, but they cull the herd, wipe out any resistance, and move on to the next planet to cull in the same area. They simply don't stop harvesting the area they are in until defeated. Thus defeating the purpose they were there for in the first place. It is a contradiction. I'd even argue that the battle of Wolf 359 was overly dramatised. The Borg wouldn't have destroyed all those vessels. They would have disabled them instead and harvested the beings who inhabited them. The population of the combined fleet in that battle would have been more than enough souls for a success single Cube to harvest. But instead we get some massive battle with most of the combined fleet destroyed. That would not have been the Borg way.
Since Data's holodeck episodes Sherlock Holmes is established as a fictional character that's not inhabiting the same universe. Spock could be very well be a descendant af Arthur Conan Doyle though.
Spock isn't a descendant of Sherlock Holmes. She was a descendant of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He's definitely referred to as a fictional character. Somewhere in the cloud you'll find a theory that James Bond and the characters of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. are not only in the same reality but THRUSH the criminal organization was originally created by Professor James Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes greatest adversary.

Even though Trek novels aren't canon, I believe that at least one did "confirm" Trelene as a young Q. I think the explanation for him seemingly needing a device to use his powers was that it's basically the Q version of training wheels.
If I remember that book right, he's supposed to be Q's own son back before that Voyager episode explicitly gave him one, who took the name Trelane because he was messing around with 3 timelines (ie Three Lanes...Trelane)

I remember The Squire of Gothos, it's one of my favorite classical Star Trek Episodes next to Errand of Mercy and Requiem for Methusalah, and as far as I can remember, Trelane gets a bit of a dressing-down afterwards from his parents, which could very well be Q and Ms Q from The Q and the Grey. But the truth is probably that the writers of the episode just lifted the courtroom scene from tThe Squire of Gothos because they were out of ideas.

Besides, the writer may only get a nominal fee for just a character. They get more for actual stories (episodes) being repeated. Wesley as Picard's son isn't just a fan theory. It was strongly suggested by the writers and producers while TNG was on the air. Remember, for a while, Beverly always had something really important to tell Jean-Luc, but they never got around to revealing what that was, because the Powers That Be did a 180 on the whole idea.
I have a crazy theory: Do you remember that Sisko turned out to be the son of a Prophet? Well, according to my theory, continuous time travel and alterations (including the death of the real Gabriel Bell) caused a butterfly effect that made the Sisko's parents never knew each other. The Prophets, noticing that their buddy cannot exist if he is not born, took action on the matter and "patched" the timeline.
More interestingly, in one episode of DS9, we meet Sisko's father, who is played by the same actor who played Admiral Cartwright in the original films - so is Sisko descended from Admiral Cartwright?

My Fan Theory is that Picard is a very distant Ancestor to Q and humans one day become omnipotent and omipresent through time. So Q is actually obsessed with Picard, because he wants to troll his great x (10n) grandfather. Also, everytime Picard gets close to that fact, Q has an anxiety attack because he's not supposed to mess with time like that.
sorry to burst your bubble, however there was an episode in one of the earlier seasons of tng. Q turns riker into a Q. He states Humanity eventually evolves beyond even the Q themselves, and he wants to study them and see what traits they have that could allow for this? Also, picard has no children or nieces/ nephews...

I have a theory that Q saw Voyager in the Delta Quadrant before (that is, in his timeline) he sent the Enterprise to see the Borg for the first time, because he knew humanity would need to be prepared for them, and Voyager ends up crippling the Borg. And when he sees Voyager he says something like, "There aren't supposed to be humans here for another hundred years!"
My take too. Spock has an eidetic memory, so he is unlikely to confuse author and character. The idea is sound and part of problem solving in any endeavor.

It actually makes less sense that Trelane is a Q, but more sense that he IS Q (the same one). As vast as the reach of the Q continuum is, it seems unlikely that two different "juvenile Q" would be in similar parts of the universe within a hundred years of each other, both with the same penchant for dressing up like Napoleon and harassing starships and/or putting their crews on "trial." While a hundred+ years is more than enough time for humans to grow up, it's barely a moment in the life of a young Q. Q himself likely spent centuries in the "humanoid-traveled" parts of the universe, probably harassing multiple ships and obsessing about humanoid things the way a kid obsesses about bugs.
Spock's line in Star Trek 6 was an in-joke; he was playing Sherlock Holmes on stage while Star Trek 6 was being written, so it was a reference thrown in by Nimoy himself as a call back for the star trek fans who came to watch him on stage
Um, actually the fan theory goes back to the early 70's where fans had noticed Nimoy appearing in other tv shows sometimes portraying Spock-like characters. This was something that Nimoy tried to downplay at first - I am not Spock - before caving in with I am Spock. And yes, he did have fun with the idea early on by saying that the theory was logical without commiting to the idea until ST6. Who said Vulcans don't have a sense of humor?

On transwarp, I've also heard the explanation that the word literally means "beyond warp." Given that TOS uses a completely different equation for calculating warp factors, this would check out that the Excelsior's test were successful and that the scale was updated to what we in TNG onward. "Transwarp" is like saying, "cutting edge," "next-gen", "ground breaking," or "over the horizon" with regard to warp technology. It is akin to breaking the speed of sound, going supersonic. It was just beyond humanity's grasp until we achieved it. Then it was assigned the Mach scale for how many times over something is in excess of it. More recently the term "hypersonic" has been used. This is the real world 21st century equivalent of "transwarp."
Problem with Wesley being Picard's son is we learn in the TNG episode "Attached" that Beverly had no idea Picard had feelings for her beyond the platonic. So if Picard had been Wesley's biological father, methinks Beverly would have, you know, NOTICED HIM BEING THERE DURING THE CONCEPTION. Some people just don't think these things through (or do their homework).

@@Borgcow: The problem with that, of course, is that Wesley was already born when Jack died, so Picard could not have been consoling a recently-widowed Beverley when Wesley was conceived, which would have been about a year prior to his father's death.
The problem with Kirk being in the Nexus in Star Trek V is that the movie doesn't show everything from Kirks point of view (the opening scene with Sybok, the diplomats and the Klingons which he didn't know about till later). Also Kirk seemed to randomly jump from his cabin to his uncles farm in Idaho while in the Nexus, he remained consistently in the same place for long periods of time in Star Trek V ( only traveling on the Enterprise or by shuttle). In the Nexus time has no meaning which means that Kirk did not age while he was in it, in Star Trek VI and Generations he appeared older that he was in Star Trek V. Lastly, in the Nexus fear and pain did not seem to exist since Kirk was not afraid when he jumped over the ravine even though it scared him every other time. In Star Trek V, Kirk fights Sybok and his hand his injured and he later gets zapped by the god creature (although the scorch marks would indicate that should have killed him...he none the less felt pain).
Theory 1 I legit like. Authors intent? Absolutely not. But utterly believable. Theory 2, Ive heard VOY production people say they felt Fogetablename LaNotparis from TNG was 'too irredeemable' was the reason they created Tom Paris. I call utter bullshit on this and absolutely believe they didn't wanna pay the original writer.

Oh god yeah, it makes a lot of sense. Even if they're that far away, I'd have thought the Borg would go "well one cube was a failure but we almost had them, send another ten" if they really prioritised Earth's assimilation. If they actually succeed, the Federation has a bunch more human colonies and alien planets, and they'd be even more incentivised to leap forward in technology. Maybe they only send in fleets to finish the job when a civilisation grows technologically stagnant. Same with Icheb's species, they're right by a transwarp conduit but the Borg keep leaving enough survivors to rebuild and advance their agricultural/genetic tech.
I really really like the NX-01 theory. I've always had the theory that the only reason the NX-01 exist is because of ST: First Contact . Through out the franchise before ST:ENT came out they said there were only 5 Enterprises until the E was launched and in one of the movies all the ships named Enterprise were depicted up to the movies time and there was no NX-01. My theory is that the events of ST: First Contact led Cochrane to buckle down and try to advance humanity faster so that they could be prepared for the threats he witnessed and that led him to hire Archers father which gets humanity to Warp 5 faster and cause the earlier founding of Starfleet as a exploration and defense organization. This causes Archer to join Starfleet rather than become a civilian engineer like his dad. It is this timeline that is altered by Spock and it is this timeline that New Trek exist in. It still has the other Treks in it but slightly altered and the Treks we grew up with are the first timeline. I like the Transwarp fan theory. It is true that in the OG series they would accelerate up to speed they even had a sound effect for it but in the later series they just went straight away to warp speeds up to 8 or 9 then the .1 and onward it has accelerate to them.
so, in effect, by trying to stop the Federation, the Borg actually helped create it and accelerate it. Sort of the whole, you can't go back in time and change things because whatever you do will just guarantee it happens the way it happened.

About 3 different times, Beverly tells Picard "there's something I have to tell you." And that's when they are suddenly saved, and we never get to hear what it is. We know what it is. Wesley. It's something they played with for years!
The truth about the Nexus is that Picard, and Kirk for that matter, never left. The rest of the movie, and everything that follows, all take place in the Nexus. Remember, there's no evidence that you can enter or exit the Nexus, except through the ribbon. When Picard and Kirk supposedly go back to Veridian III, the Ribbon had not yet arrived yet. And Guinan even said that there is no way to leave. She then says "If you could leave, where would you go?" And they went to Veridian III. Before Picard and Kirk "left" the Nexus, Kirk and Picard were talking about making a difference, and then Kirk said "sounds like fun". In his dying breath he asked "did we make a difference?" Picard said yes. Then Kirk said, "it was fun". Then his last words were "Oh my". The expression on his face wasn't disappointment or pain. It was that he realized it was all a dream created by the Nexus. Think about it. Do you honestly think that, in all of history, if it were possible to leave the Nexus, Picard and Kirk were the only people to ever leave? There should have been stories, but there weren't, because nobody every left.
Guinan never said there was no way to leave. And obviously there *is* a way to leave, because she herself left, as did Soran. She told Picard that, if he left, he could go anywhere he wanted.

"I said we are done and I don't want to hear about it ever again"
Slight tweak on number 3. TOS and TNG actually use different warp scales. Kirk’s warp 6 and Picard’s warp 6 aren’t even the same speed. I have always thought that indeed the Excelsior’s transwarp did work. This was the reason for the change to the warp scale. And the trans prefix was dropped in the same way we don’t distinguish a cell phone that often, they’re all just phones.
Better theory about Transwarp: It did indeed work. However, the first ship that actually used it miscalculated, was thrown all the way to the Delta Quadrant, and was assimilated by the Borg giving them the Transwarp technology. Ship was thought destroy in the experiment, transwarp was deemed too dangerous, and all research into it was ceased.
My own fan theory : Khan is not a name, but rather a title. This is actually true, for the most part. So, Khan Noonien Singh is actually named Noonien Singh, and later on, he adopted the name Noonien Soong. :)

One hole that I see with the Borg theory is that all of the species who have been entirely assimilated by the Borg are from probably from their own home region of space. Perhaps even with transwarp it would be too expensive in terms of energy to send an entire fleet of cubes across the galaxy, large enough to assimilate the entire Federation. Each of the Borg's attacks has been sending a single cube to Earth. I get the impression that the Borg regard the Federation as a serious threat, and they have been trying to eliminate Earth to splinter the Federation and soften it up for future assimilation. The Borg have been able to run rampant through the Delta quadrant because there are no large scale unified empires or confederations to oppose them, and likely they have also been kept out of the Gamma quadrant by the existence of the Dominion.
The warp difference between TOS and TNG in my mind is equivalent between 100*C and 100*F. As in, it's a different type of scale using a different metric but the underlying principals are the same.
Wasn't the warp scale change because of the Kelvins? It would make sense that the advanced tech they were using would take a while to unlock though the Excelsior could have been a test of that tech. Still it doesn't explain how the Constitution classes could travel across the entire quadrant in days yet Voyager would take 70 years, even the Galaxy class was faster.
Carlos Aguilar, maybe they never intended to succeed in stopping first contact. Maybe they were there to insure it happened. Maybe Cochrane wouldn’t have succeeded without help and the Borg were making sure humanity gained warp drive on schedule so they could farm the Federation for tech in the future.
@@Aguilar0612 There's a expanded version of the theory that tries explains that. It proposes that Enterprise's inconsistences with the previously know history of the Star Teck universe (a lot of tech shows up early than it should) is because it takes place in an altered timeline cause the events of First Contact. The idea being the plan wasn't to assimilate humanity but further accelerate their technological growth. Some go father and suggest that it is this already altered timeline that is where Spock and Nero landed in the newer movies and that explains away the changes to that timeline that would have had to happen before their arrival. That the problem with theory list like this they often quick fire and leave stuff out.
That Trelane was a Q, and not just A Q but our Q's Godson and possibly the result of an illicit affair between Q and the wife of a leading member of the Continuum was explored in fascinating depths in the book Q Squared by Peter David.
There are many godlike species in Star Trek, I just doubt that Trelane was a Q. He did need a mechanism for his powers and had parents of a sort, and didn't Q say they never reproduced that way in a episode of Voyager? I thought they always referred to themselves as "Q" and not by any other name. Trek does have many inconsistencies and Q Squared is interesting, though.
See, I don't mind Trelane being a young Q at all, but all that other stuff from the novel is just silly and unneeded. Some general connections are nice, but with the stuff you just covered in your post, it gets to be ridiculous. We don't need all of that.
What people forget when discussing the Chinese and Indian character debacles is that people sometimes migrate to other countries. My take is that: during the eugenics war India and China as well as other parts of Asia were wiped out and much of their population was decimated. However, as with most ethnic groups around the world, Chinese and Indian people weren't confined to their own countries, in fact the US has a very prolific Chinese minority due to workers migrating to work on the railways in the 1800s. Therefore, it's logical to assume that the same can be said for Indians, who had the commonwealth to facilitate the possibility of migration. This means that in the Star Trek universe small minorities of these ethnicities do exist, but specifically in the case of China and India (and indeed most other parts of Asia) these groups have very strong nationalist pride, which leads me to theorise that the reason we don't see Chinese and Indian characters on screen in Star trek is because most of them decide to stay on Earth to restore and safeguard their cultural traditions first before joining the rest of humanity on spreading themselves throughout the galaxy. Now this isn't to say that nobody from these minorities has ever served in Starfleet, one example that comes to mind is from a scene in Star Trek IV where captain Joel Randolph of the USS Yorktown contacts Starfleet headquarters. Randolph was portrayed by Vijay Amritraj (and Indian actor), showing that at least a few from these minorities did indeed serve Starfleet. And perhaps to further this theory, the fact that his character "Joel Randolph" used a western name reinforces how the more western identifying segments of these minorities chose not to stay on Earth and instead join Starfleet. That's just my theory anyway.
My grown "ST freak" son sent me this. Enjoyed it, but 2 things-- Harry Kim wasn't the 1st or only Asian on ST, the 1st was Sulu. Sulu's grown daughter is also an ensign in a ST movie. Plus O'Brien of TNG/DS9 married Keiko, a pretty Asian teacher. The other thing is also just a tiny mixup. There was a slight crossover, lol! Trelawny is a professor of Harry Potter's at Hogwarts. The original ST "Q" was Trelaine. He was highly fashioned after the famous Liberace.- Hair, clothes, but l think he played a spinnet or harpsichord whereas Liberace played a Baby Grand. I just turned 60 September 13th & so l actually remember watching the original ST as a very wee girl!! 👍😃🛸 And watching Neil Armstrong land on the Moon, live, to look for him! 😉🚀 So very pleased to see the original genius of Star ⭐ Trek will always live on!! Keiko and the Sulus, are Japanese. Japan isn't China or India. It is close to China, culturally, genetically, and physically, but separate enough. Same could be said for Korea, ( since Mr. Cho played sulu in the Kelvin movies), but Korea at least shares a land border with China.. probably would've been taken out at the same time.

I like the idea of the Borg 'farming' earth to force technological growth for the Borg's ultimate improvement but it does fall apart slightly when you take in to account that the Borg went back in time to wipe humanity out in First Contact
Also, the Borg don't much care about crap in the Alpha quadrant. If they assimilate Earth, it would be a LONG way from their power base. (there's just exit apertures here; there are no entries into the borg transwarp network, so getting back to the delta quadrant would take years.)
Also, what was the result of the Borg going back in time? Picard et al heading back in time and assuring that warp drive happened on schedule. Given we know that the Borg Queen has knowledge of alternate timelines and maybe even the trek multiverse, it stands to reason that this was again a part of their farming strategy.
My best guess is that either they wanted to make sure the signal would be sent to them in the 21st century (ENT: Regeneration), or the Borg were hoping for the Enterprise-E to follow them so they would have a chance to assimilate Data. A unique, non-organic highly sophisticated lifeform would be a huge prize for the Collective.
I beg to differ - that saying of Sherlock Holmes on which this whole theory revolves is not original to the Sherlock Holmes universe...It's actually a scientific principle known as Occam's Razor, named after William of Occam, a Franciscan monk who lived in England in the Middle Ages (and the model both for Brother Cadfael in the novels by Ellis Peters and the main character in Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose). Spock's ancestor might very well have visited Earth as early as in the MIddle Ages and lived under the identity of William of Occam.

The Nick Locarno thing can't be true. I've watched Caretaker recently, and the way Tom Paris describes _his_ version of it, he caused three officers (not one cadet) to die, and he could've gotten away with it all if he'd kept his mouth shut, but guilt (not Wesley) made him later confess. The _truth_ must be... Nick is _Mirror_ Tom!!
McNeill himself has acknowledged that Paris was meant to be Locarno; and has rationalized that while Paris was ultimately reformed, Locarno was irredeemable. By the way, I'd like to recommend The Delta Flyers podcast hosted by McNeill and Garrett Wang, where they re-watch all of Voyager and talk about it.
Also Locarno didn't commit pilot error which caused the death, they were doing an illegal maneuver. Paris says that the accident was his fault, pilot error, not that it was hos fault because he allowed/ possibly coerced the squad to do an illegal maneuver. The pilot error in first duty was not committed by locarno but by Joshua Albert Also I do twnd to agree that Locarno is irredeemable unlike Paris. Four other Locarno theories I have heard about at various points: They be half siblings because Owen Paris is a cheater. They are cousins that just look oddly similar. There is a Soong that is still a genetic engineer and he gives all the children he augments his face, a la Noonien soong except with people. And my favourite: there is no explanation. They go to the academy at the same time, tho Nick is presumably a few years younger (VOY starts in 2371, TNG in 2365, so first duty probably somewhere in 2370), and everyone knows they look similar but as far as they know there is no relation between them.
The Tom/Nicholas theory is a good one, about him changing his name in the academy. There is a slight inclination that Admiral Patterson had made some mistakes in his past whe Janeway told him that people deserved a chance despite the mistakes they have made in their past in Relativity, I may be looking too much into this very miniscule moment in the ready room with their small talk but it does make you wonder what "mistakes" she could be on about, such as perhaps Patterson being in on Tom changing his name to Nicholas Locarno for the academy, just a theory of course and maybe reading too much into it.

They do this on all their channels on purpose. Some of them are so blatantly mispronounced it’s got to be deliberate. People comment to point them out, which increases video interaction.
Actually in Star Trek IV the Voyage home we see a person that appears to be of Indian descent. He is the Captain of the USS. Yorktown at approximately 13 minutes in the movie.

I think the "ultimate knowledge" that V'ger had combined with the mind of a biological being ended up causing a mental split that actually makes all Q, part of the same mind. That's why they have the same name. The Continuum itself is the original mind. This is why it's hard for humans and the like to understand or see it in it's true form. It's also why Q's weren't willing to let one die or why two Q's had never produced an offspring before.
I've had the theory for a while that Picard's sister-in-law murdered her husband with a fire, and her son was collateral damage. Here's how I got there - Picard's actions result in the death of Jack Crusher. Picard is, of course, in love with Beverly, but can't say anything (bad form to hit on the widow at a funeral). He goes to Earth for debriefing and attempts to reconnect with family, but his brother is having none of it, He does have a connection with Marie, and 9 months later (well after Picard is back in space), Rene pops out. After the Borg incident, Robert is looking over old photo albums and notices how much his son looks like his brother (SOURCE: they are played by the same actor). He and Marie argue, maybe things get violent...and she sets a fire that kills Robert, but her son is caught up in it. Part of the message from Starfleet (or maybe when he sees Marie at the funerals after the events of the movie) relays the genealogy. Not quite sure why no one from any local towns used a future fire department (beam the people out, put a forcefield over the fire and starve it, or beam some water over it) to stop more damage though. You'd think they would monitor for things like that.
They should have done a spin off with Garak and Quark, stuck on pre contact Earth. They've been surgically altered to look Human and are trying to get the parts and resources to repair their hidden crashed ship. All the while blocking each other's attempts to alter human history to the benifit of _their_ own species.

In my mind, the Borg incursion into the past and the contact that the crew of the Enterprise E had with Zefram Cochrane spawned a parallel timeline that the series "Enterprise" takes place in.
With the new Picard series, I think V'ger was more likely to be from the Sentient Machines that were just introduced there. It appeared to be far more advanced than the Borg, and it didn't have any organic material at all.
imkluu That’s what I thought when the Picard and Discovery series talk about an all AI race. All three of them may be related. Wish I can copy my reply to people saying V’Ger is related to the Borg... the old forum is shut down long ago. Main points I can recall are V’Ger’s founders are all machine race that later join with an organic in this film. The Borg is the opposite, they start off organic and integrated with machines and remain the combination of both in search of perfection. They don’t have the desire to become fully machine to claim Vger was sent back to the past by future Borg either. Plenty other points why they’re not related: Ship design Tech level for that era (why still use beams in Wolf 359 when Vger weapons just vap ships in its passing) Etc.
The veger/ borg Theory comes from writings of Roddenberry in which he was thinking of exploring that direction of story telling, the theory goes veger is not borg but the ilaya/veger android when mixed with decker created that first borg. Now later stuff contradicts that, but it could had been a good idea for borg in their beginnings....🖖
For a Star Trek channel, they do see to make a lot of dumb mistakes like this. Especially when the Star Trek fanbase is known as one of the most nitpicky groups in existence.

@@adamgoss3638 I meant that we're so nitpicky that we'll catch even obscure mistakes, so it's really dumb to mess up something as basic as a character name. It's almost like they were trying to go from memory instead of actually looking up the names to verify them.
As a kid, I remember reading the history of the refit and NCC-1701-A Enterprise from the book Mr Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. In it, it said the ship that became the second Enterprise was already being built for being another class ship with transwarp drive (and that it basically was a faster form of warp). So transwarp was in the written canon.
The idea of the Borg farming species but testing their defences over time is basically the plot of Mass Effect. Except the Reapers leave tech behind to give species a leg up, rather than using war to drive innovation.
Picard never acted on his feelings (well, until the Picard series). But he felt immensely guilty for wanting his best friend's wife. Him not liking children has nothing to do with Beverly or Wesley or any of that.

Picard felt the guilt of Jack's death, that gives him the need to look after Wesley, but also a terrible fear of becoming a Father figure and replacing Jack in Wesley's mind.
@LeytonJay thank you I was starting to get pissed one pointed out Picards's guilt. Like damn I knew I wasn't the only person who remembered it.
Picard also felt guilty because he had harbored his attraction to Beverly since long before she married Jack. This was just amplified after he sent Jack on the mission that killed him and Wesley was a painful reminder of it.
In 1987, when TNG came out, my first impression of Q was no , it can't be Trelane !!!!.

@@johnbockelie3899 of course he was grown up Trelane. Gene Roddenberry added the Q stuff to DC Fontana's "Farpoint Station" * finished script to stretch it 45 minutes as Paramount forced them to change the 60 minute pilot into a two hour pilot movie.
Roddenberry has never written a fully original story in his entire career. Star Trek itself wasn't even original. GR was an adapter and remaker. Most TV writers were in the 60s. TMP is a perfect example of hacky reuse with better visuals and same but aging cast.
*I still don't know why they went to Farpoint Station and what they accomplished on that mission. Sort of like Luke Skywalker sent to get power converters. That dumb kid never did get them. Typical.

I was starting to put together notes and an outline for a fan fiction/novel which featured an adult Rene as a Starfleet captain when they killed him and his father off in Generations. Which kind of made it pointless.
I quite liked a lot of these, especially the theory that Zephram Cochrane based the design of the NX-01 on the Enterprise-E.
I like it too, but not because he saw it in the telescope, but because he saw the whole ship in space right after he launched the Phoenix.
Well, IF you look AT it, the time line WAS altered many times. It was NOT 'restored', just altered enough to achieve the same outcome as remembered by the Enterprise crew! THIS also explains the LOOK of the tech/ships more in the Discovery iteration of Star Trek! This 2nd look at the near classic era Trek, is in THIS 'restored' time line! NO time restorations are ever perfect!
Those Borg too , from 24thC were LEFT in the 21st, and revived in the 22nd! So again, an altered time line, not a restored 1. Trek was rebooted FROM 1st Contact on! That inc Enterprise, Nemesis, Discovery AND Picard! JJ Trek was another alteration caused by a different event again!

@@DMSProduktions I totally agree with this assessment. Really, things have been changed rather than restored many times across Trek. Like in "All Good Things" when Picard's obviously told the crew about the original future where Troi died, Will & Worf fell-out and the Enterprise-D didn't get destroyed. So, everything from that point on has been different. The funny thing is that "All Good Things", "The Visitor" in DS9 and "Endgame" from Voyager have all shown the same future Starfleet uniforms. Yet, by the time we actually catch-up to that era in "Picard", they've had totally different uniforms (although the badges are similar). So, that proves things have definitely changed a lot.

I never considered the Borg Theory a theory. I always assumed it was the case. Their focus is technology and not on reproduction. And with different races and different biology you could argue that it is simply too much energy, time, loss efficiency, and resources to produce replacement bio-units. So you farm them instead.
The problem with the theory is that the BORG seem to aggressive with their approach. They wipe out entire populations either due to death or body farming. Which can even hamper their own technology growth as the other races simply wouldn't be able to improve their own technology lines to the destruction and population loss from the BORG process. So the BORG simply end up losing in the long run. Additionally, the more BORG cubes they build the more harvesting they have to do. Thus their bio-units have to be replaced with even more farming. Even if you argue that the BORG deliberately jump between societies so as to limit the damage of their farming on the victim society, everything about the BORG indicates they just don't cull the herd and leave, but they cull the herd, wipe out any resistance, and move on to the next planet to cull in the same area. They simply don't stop harvesting the area they are in until defeated. Thus defeating the purpose they were there for in the first place. It is a contradiction. I'd even argue that the battle of Wolf 359 was overly dramatised. The Borg wouldn't have destroyed all those vessels. They would have disabled them instead and harvested the beings who inhabited them. The population of the combined fleet in that battle would have been more than enough souls for a success single Cube to harvest. But instead we get some massive battle with most of the combined fleet destroyed. That would not have been the Borg way.
Since Data's holodeck episodes Sherlock Holmes is established as a fictional character that's not inhabiting the same universe. Spock could be very well be a descendant af Arthur Conan Doyle though.
I'm not sure the TNG episodes ever refer to Holmes as fictional - the holodeck could be recreating 'real life' events as depicted by Doctor Watson!
Spock isn't a descendant of Sherlock Holmes. She was a descendant of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He's definitely referred to as a fictional character. Somewhere in the cloud you'll find a theory that James Bond and the characters of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. are not only in the same reality but THRUSH the criminal organization was originally created by Professor James Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes greatest adversary.

Even though Trek novels aren't canon, I believe that at least one did "confirm" Trelene as a young Q. I think the explanation for him seemingly needing a device to use his powers was that it's basically the Q version of training wheels.

If I remember that book right, he's supposed to be Q's own son back before that Voyager episode explicitly gave him one, who took the name Trelane because he was messing around with 3 timelines (ie Three Lanes...Trelane)

I remember The Squire of Gothos, it's one of my favorite classical Star Trek Episodes next to Errand of Mercy and Requiem for Methusalah, and as far as I can remember, Trelane gets a bit of a dressing-down afterwards from his parents, which could very well be Q and Ms Q from The Q and the Grey. But the truth is probably that the writers of the episode just lifted the courtroom scene from tThe Squire of Gothos because they were out of ideas.

I think it's still fair to say that that wouldn't have been considered "Western" in the 80s, as that whole area was still behind the Iron Curtain/Warsaw Pact, and Belarus was part of the USSR at the time, right? Until the Dissolution in...1989-1991 timeframe, where Belarus and other nations that were part of the USSR proceeded to break off until even the USSR central government realized there was nothing to be done but let it happen.

So, it was cheaper to create an original character with a similar backstory than to recycle a preexisting character and have to shell out a ton of money for the use

There is O' Brien... and more... that show up on at least two of the series And of course... Q! This is why it makes little sense to me that the reason was for royalties. Besides, the writer may only get a nominal fee for just a character. They get more for actual stories (episodes) being repeated. Then there's that intellectual property thing, and the likelihood that Paramount, etc. actually owns the copyrights. So...

Wesley as Picard's son isn't just a fan theory. It was strongly suggested by the writers and producers while TNG was on the air. Remember, for a while, Beverly always had something really important to tell Jean-Luc, but they never got around to revealing what that was, because the Powers That Be did a 180 on the whole idea.
It seemed obvious to me that they liked each other but that they were never actually a couple (not during TNG or before I mean)

I have a crazy theory: Do you remember that Sisko turned out to be the son of a Prophet? Well, according to my theory, continuous time travel and alterations (including the death of the real Gabriel Bell) caused a butterfly effect that made the Sisko's parents never knew each other. The Prophets, noticing that their buddy cannot exist if he is not born, took action on the matter and "patched" the timeline.
More interestingly, in one episode of DS9, we meet Sisko's father, who is played by the same actor who played Admiral Cartwright in the original films - so is Sisko descended from Admiral Cartwright?

My Fan Theory is that Picard is a very distant Ancestor to Q and humans one day become omnipotent and omipresent through time. So Q is actually obsessed with Picard, because he wants to troll his great x (10n) grandfather. Also, everytime Picard gets close to that fact, Q has an anxiety attack because he's not supposed to mess with time like that.
I like that theory.

I have a theory that Q saw Voyager in the Delta Quadrant before (that is, in his timeline) he sent the Enterprise to see the Borg for the first time, because he knew humanity would need to be prepared for them, and Voyager ends up crippling the Borg. And when he sees Voyager he says something like, "There aren't supposed to be humans here for another hundred years!"

That would make more sense given that even in the Trek universe Holmes is a fictional character written by Doyle.

It actually makes less sense that Trelane is a Q, but more sense that he IS Q (the same one). As vast as the reach of the Q continuum is, it seems unlikely that two different "juvenile Q" would be in similar parts of the universe within a hundred years of each other, both with the same penchant for dressing up like Napoleon and harassing starships and/or putting their crews on "trial." While a hundred+ years is more than enough time for humans to grow up, it's barely a moment in the life of a young Q. Q himself likely spent centuries in the "humanoid-traveled" parts of the universe, probably harassing multiple ships and obsessing about humanoid things the way a kid obsesses about bugs.
There was some mechanical trickery involved according to the video so maybe it's a Q wannabe.
Spock's line in Star Trek 6 was an in-joke; he was playing Sherlock Holmes on stage while Star Trek 6 was being written, so it was a reference thrown in by Nimoy himself as a call back for the star trek fans who came to watch him on stage
Um, actually the fan theory goes back to the early 70's where fans had noticed Nimoy appearing in other tv shows sometimes portraying Spock-like characters. This was something that Nimoy tried to downplay at first - I am not Spock - before caving in with I am Spock. And yes, he did have fun with the idea early on by saying that the theory was logical without commiting to the idea until ST6. Who said Vulcans don't have a sense of humor?

On transwarp, I've also heard the explanation that the word literally means "beyond warp." Given that TOS uses a completely different equation for calculating warp factors, this would check out that the Excelsior's test were successful and that the scale was updated to what we in TNG onward. "Transwarp" is like saying, "cutting edge," "next-gen", "ground breaking," or "over the horizon" with regard to warp technology. It is akin to breaking the speed of sound, going supersonic. It was just beyond humanity's grasp until we achieved it. Then it was assigned the Mach scale for how many times over something is in excess of it. More recently the term "hypersonic" has been used. This is the real world 21st century equivalent of "transwarp."
Problem with Wesley being Picard's son is we learn in the TNG episode "Attached" that Beverly had no idea Picard had feelings for her beyond the platonic. So if Picard had been Wesley's biological father, methinks Beverly would have, you know, NOTICED HIM BEING THERE DURING THE CONCEPTION. Some people just don't think these things through (or do their homework).

The problem with Kirk being in the Nexus in Star Trek V is that the movie doesn't show everything from Kirks point of view (the opening scene with Sybok, the diplomats and the Klingons which he didn't know about till later). Also Kirk seemed to randomly jump from his cabin to his uncles farm in Idaho while in the Nexus, he remained consistently in the same place for long periods of time in Star Trek V ( only traveling on the Enterprise or by shuttle). In the Nexus time has no meaning which means that Kirk did not age while he was in it, in Star Trek VI and Generations he appeared older that he was in Star Trek V. Lastly, in the Nexus fear and pain did not seem to exist since Kirk was not afraid when he jumped over the ravine even though it scared him every other time. In Star Trek V, Kirk fights Sybok and his hand his injured and he later gets zapped by the god creature (although the scorch marks would indicate that should have killed him...he none the less felt pain).

Oh god yeah, it makes a lot of sense. Even if they're that far away, I'd have thought the Borg would go "well one cube was a failure but we almost had them, send another ten" if they really prioritised Earth's assimilation. If they actually succeed, the Federation has a bunch more human colonies and alien planets, and they'd be even more incentivised to leap forward in technology. Maybe they only send in fleets to finish the job when a civilisation grows technologically stagnant. Same with Icheb's species, they're right by a transwarp conduit but the Borg keep leaving enough survivors to rebuild and advance their agricultural/genetic tech.

I really really like the NX-01 theory. I've always had the theory that the only reason the NX-01 exist is because of ST: First Contact . Through out the franchise before ST:ENT came out they said there were only 5 Enterprises until the E was launched and in one of the movies all the ships named Enterprise were depicted up to the movies time and there was no NX-01. My theory is that the events of ST: First Contact led Cochrane to buckle down and try to advance humanity faster so that they could be prepared for the threats he witnessed and that led him to hire Archers father which gets humanity to Warp 5 faster and cause the earlier founding of Starfleet as a exploration and defense organization. This causes Archer to join Starfleet rather than become a civilian engineer like his dad. It is this timeline that is altered by Spock and it is this timeline that New Trek exist in. It still has the other Treks in it but slightly altered and the Treks we grew up with are the first timeline.
I like the Transwarp fan theory. It is true that in the OG series they would accelerate up to speed they even had a sound effect for it but in the later series they just went straight away to warp speeds up to 8 or 9 then the .1 and onward it has accelerate to them.

so, in effect, by trying to stop the Federation, the Borg actually helped create it and accelerate it. Sort of the whole, you can't go back in time and change things because whatever you do will just guarantee it happens the way it happened.

The truth about the Nexus is that Picard, and Kirk for that matter, never left. The rest of the movie, and everything that follows, all take place in the Nexus. Remember, there's no evidence that you can enter or exit the Nexus, except through the ribbon. When Picard and Kirk supposedly go back to Veridian III, the Ribbon had not yet arrived yet. And Guinan even said that there is no way to leave. She then says "If you could leave, where would you go?" And they went to Veridian III. Before Picard and Kirk "left" the Nexus, Kirk and Picard were talking about making a difference, and then Kirk said "sounds like fun". In his dying breath he asked "did we make a difference?" Picard said yes. Then Kirk said, "it was fun". Then his last words were "Oh my". The expression on his face wasn't disappointment or pain. It was that he realized it was all a dream created by the Nexus. Think about it. Do you honestly think that, in all of history, if it were possible to leave the Nexus, Picard and Kirk were the only people to ever leave? There should have been stories, but there weren't, because nobody every left.
Guinan never said there was no way to leave. And obviously there *is* a way to leave, because she herself left, as did Soran. She told Picard that, if he left, he could go anywhere he wanted.
The Nexus should be used as a plot device now to completely wipe out the nonsense of destroying Romulus, Vulcan and ST Picard

Slight tweak on number 3. TOS and TNG actually use different warp scales. Kirk’s warp 6 and Picard’s warp 6 aren’t even the same speed. I have always thought that indeed the Excelsior’s transwarp did work. This was the reason for the change to the warp scale. And the trans prefix was dropped in the same way we don’t distinguish a cell phone that often, they’re all just phones.

Better theory about Transwarp: It did indeed work. However, the first ship that actually used it miscalculated, was thrown all the way to the Delta Quadrant, and was assimilated by the Borg giving them the Transwarp technology. Ship was thought destroy in the experiment, transwarp was deemed too dangerous, and all research into it was ceased.
It's scary that the Picard is Wesley's father theory does kinda of make sence.

One hole that I see with the Borg theory is that all of the species who have been entirely assimilated by the Borg are from probably from their own home region of space. Perhaps even with transwarp it would be too expensive in terms of energy to send an entire fleet of cubes across the galaxy, large enough to assimilate the entire Federation. Each of the Borg's attacks has been sending a single cube to Earth. I get the impression that the Borg regard the Federation as a serious threat, and they have been trying to eliminate Earth to splinter the Federation and soften it up for future assimilation. The Borg have been able to run rampant through the Delta quadrant because there are no large scale unified empires or confederations to oppose them, and likely they have also been kept out of the Gamma quadrant by the existence of the Dominion.
That intro is honestly the best description of the value of being a fan of something that I have ever heard in my life
The warp difference between TOS and TNG in my mind is equivalent between 100*C and 100*F. As in, it's a different type of scale using a different metric but the underlying principals are the same.
There is a difference between the TOS and TNG warp scales. I always figured the transwarp experiment was why.
Wasn't the warp scale change because of the Kelvins? It would make sense that the advanced tech they were using would take a while to unlock though the Excelsior could have been a test of that tech.
Still it doesn't explain how the Constitution classes could travel across the entire quadrant in days yet Voyager would take 70 years, even the Galaxy class was faster.
Figured out the math back in the 90s. TOS is warp speed cubed, ie, to the third power. TNG is warp speed to the 3.2 power.

Most fan theories are easily dismissed, but the Borg farming Humanity makes absolute sense for the reasons listed in the video.
But then it defeats the purpose of First Contact. Why would they go to the past - before they invent any of that technology?
Carlos Aguilar, maybe they never intended to succeed in stopping first contact. Maybe they were there to insure it happened. Maybe Cochrane wouldn’t have succeeded without help and the Borg were making sure humanity gained warp drive on schedule so they could farm the Federation for tech in the future.

It proposes that Enterprise's inconsistences with the previously know history of the Star Teck universe (a lot of tech shows up early than it should) is because it takes place in an altered timeline cause the events of First Contact. The idea being the plan wasn't to assimilate humanity but further accelerate their technological growth. Some go father and suggest that it is this already altered timeline that is where Spock and Nero landed in the newer movies and that explains away the changes to that timeline that would have had to happen before their arrival. That the problem with theory list like this they often quick fire and leave stuff out.
It doesn't. If that was their goal they would have never sent Borg to the past and assimilate earth. That would defeat the whole purpose.

That Trelane was a Q, and not just A Q but our Q's Godson and possibly the result of an illicit affair between Q and the wife of a leading member of the Continuum was explored in fascinating depths in the book Q Squared by Peter David.
There are many godlike species in Star Trek, I just doubt that Trelane was a Q. He did need a mechanism for his powers and had parents of a sort, and didn't Q say they never reproduced that way in a episode of Voyager? I thought they always referred to themselves as "Q" and not by any other name. Trek does have many inconsistencies and Q Squared is interesting, though.

See, I don't mind Trelane being a young Q at all, but all that other stuff from the novel is just silly and unneeded. Some general connections are nice, but with the stuff you just covered in your post, it gets to be ridiculous. We don't need all of that.
Next question, why do all members of the Q species have the same name? How does one tell em apart?
What people forget when discussing the Chinese and Indian character debacles is that people sometimes migrate to other countries. My take is that: during the eugenics war India and China as well as other parts of Asia were wiped out and much of their population was decimated. However, as with most ethnic groups around the world, Chinese and Indian people weren't confined to their own countries, in fact the US has a very prolific Chinese minority due to workers migrating to work on the railways in the 1800s. Therefore, it's logical to assume that the same can be said for Indians, who had the commonwealth to facilitate the possibility of migration. This means that in the Star Trek universe small minorities of these ethnicities do exist, but specifically in the case of China and India (and indeed most other parts of Asia) these groups have very strong nationalist pride, which leads me to theorise that the reason we don't see Chinese and Indian characters on screen in Star trek is because most of them decide to stay on Earth to restore and safeguard their cultural traditions first before joining the rest of humanity on spreading themselves throughout the galaxy.
Now this isn't to say that nobody from these minorities has ever served in Starfleet, one example that comes to mind is from a scene in Star Trek IV where captain Joel Randolph of the USS Yorktown contacts Starfleet headquarters. Randolph was portrayed by Vijay Amritraj (and Indian actor), showing that at least a few from these minorities did indeed serve Starfleet. And perhaps to further this theory, the fact that his character "Joel Randolph" used a western name reinforces how the more western identifying segments of these minorities chose not to stay on Earth and instead join Starfleet.
That's just my theory anyway.
My grown "ST freak" son sent me this. Enjoyed it, but 2 things-- Harry Kim wasn't the 1st or only Asian on ST, the 1st was Sulu. Sulu's grown daughter is also an ensign in a ST movie. Plus O'Brien of TNG/DS9 married Keiko, a pretty Asian teacher.
The other thing is also just a tiny mixup. There was a slight crossover, lol!
Trelawny is a professor of Harry Potter's at Hogwarts. The original ST "Q" was Trelaine. He was highly fashioned after the famous Liberace.- Hair, clothes, but l think he played a spinnet or harpsichord whereas Liberace played a Baby Grand.

I like the idea of the Borg 'farming' earth to force technological growth for the Borg's ultimate improvement but it does fall apart slightly when you take in to account that the Borg went back in time to wipe humanity out in First Contact
Also, the Borg don't much care about crap in the Alpha quadrant. If they assimilate Earth, it would be a LONG way from their power base. (there's just exit apertures here; there are no entries into the borg transwarp network, so getting back to the delta quadrant would take years.)
Also, what was the result of the Borg going back in time? Picard et al heading back in time and assuring that warp drive happened on schedule. Given we know that the Borg Queen has knowledge of alternate timelines and maybe even the trek multiverse, it stands to reason that this was again a part of their farming strategy.
My best guess is that either they wanted to make sure the signal would be sent to them in the 21st century (ENT: Regeneration), or the Borg were hoping for the Enterprise-E to follow them so they would have a chance to assimilate Data. A unique, non-organic highly sophisticated lifeform would be a huge prize for the Collective.

I beg to differ - that saying of Sherlock Holmes on which this whole theory revolves is not original to the Sherlock Holmes universe...It's actually a scientific principle known as Occam's Razor, named after William of Occam, a Franciscan monk who lived in England in the Middle Ages (and the model both for Brother Cadfael in the novels by Ellis Peters and the main character in Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose). Spock's ancestor might very well have visited Earth as early as in the MIddle Ages and lived under the identity of William of Occam.

I've watched Caretaker recently, and the way Tom Paris describes _his_ version of it, he caused three officers (not one cadet) to die, and he could've gotten away with it all if he'd kept his mouth shut, but guilt (not Wesley) made him later confess. The _truth_ must be... Nick is _Mirror_ Tom!!
McNeill himself has acknowledged that Paris was meant to be Locarno; and has rationalized that while Paris was ultimately reformed, Locarno was irredeemable. By the way, I'd like to recommend The Delta Flyers podcast hosted by McNeill and Garrett Wang, where they re-watch all of Voyager and talk about it.

Also Locarno didn't commit pilot error which caused the death, they were doing an illegal maneuver. Paris says that the accident was his fault, pilot error, not that it was hos fault because he allowed/ possibly coerced the squad to do an illegal maneuver.

Four other Locarno theories I have heard about at various points:
They be half siblings because Owen Paris is a cheater.
They are cousins that just look oddly similar.
There is a Soong that is still a genetic engineer and he gives all the children he augments his face, a la Noonien soong except with people.
And my favourite: there is no explanation. They go to the academy at the same time, tho Nick is presumably a few years younger (VOY starts in 2371, TNG in 2365, so first duty probably somewhere in 2370), and everyone knows they look similar but as far as they know there is no relation between them.

The Tom/Nicholas theory is a good one, about him changing his name in the academy. There is a slight inclination that Admiral Patterson had made some mistakes in his past whe Janeway told him that people deserved a chance despite the mistakes they have made in their past in Relativity, I may be looking too much into this very miniscule moment in the ready room with their small talk but it does make you wonder what "mistakes" she could be on about, such as perhaps Patterson being in on Tom changing his name to Nicholas Locarno for the academy, just a theory of course and maybe reading too much into it.

Maybe the Q created a simulation to visit their own past. The entire Star Trek universe is a 'hologram', the characters just don't know it.
I think the "ultimate knowledge" that V'ger had combined with the mind of a biological being ended up causing a mental split that actually makes all Q, part of the same mind. That's why they have the same name. The Continuum itself is the original mind. This is why it's hard for humans and the like to understand or see it in it's true form. It's also why Q's weren't willing to let one die or why two Q's had never produced an offspring before.
I've had the theory for a while that Picard's sister-in-law murdered her husband with a fire, and her son was collateral damage.
Here's how I got there -
Picard's actions result in the death of Jack Crusher. Picard is, of course, in love with Beverly, but can't say anything (bad form to hit on the widow at a funeral). He goes to Earth for debriefing and attempts to reconnect with family, but his brother is having none of it, He does have a connection with Marie, and 9 months later (well after Picard is back in space), Rene pops out.
After the Borg incident, Robert is looking over old photo albums and notices how much his son looks like his brother (SOURCE: they are played by the same actor). He and Marie argue, maybe things get violent...and she sets a fire that kills Robert, but her son is caught up in it.
Part of the message from Starfleet (or maybe when he sees Marie at the funerals after the events of the movie) relays the genealogy. Not quite sure why no one from any local towns used a future fire department (beam the people out, put a forcefield over the fire and starve it, or beam some water over it) to stop more damage though. You'd think they would monitor for things like that.
Spock, in one movie, made reference to an old Vulcan proverb, "Only Nixon could go to China."
They should have done a spinoff with Nog and Barclay.

In my mind, the Borg incursion into the past and the contact that the crew of the Enterprise E had with Zefram Cochrane spawned a parallel timeline that the series "Enterprise" takes place in.

With the new Picard series, I think V'ger was more likely to be from the Sentient Machines that were just introduced there. It appeared to be far more advanced than the Borg, and it didn't have any organic material at all.

That’s what I thought when the Picard and Discovery series talk about an all AI race. All three of them may be related.
Wish I can copy my reply to people saying V’Ger is related to the Borg... the old forum is shut down long ago.
Main points I can recall are
V’Ger’s founders are all machine race that later join with an organic in this film.
The Borg is the opposite, they start off organic and integrated with machines and remain the combination of both in search of perfection.
They don’t have the desire to become fully machine to claim Vger was sent back to the past by future Borg either.
Plenty other points why they’re not related:
Ship design
Tech level for that era
(why still use beams in Wolf 359 when Vger weapons just vap ships in its passing)
Etc.
The veger/ borg Theory comes from writings of Roddenberry in which he was thinking of exploring that direction of story telling, the theory goes veger is not borg but the ilaya/veger android when mixed with decker created that first borg. Now later stuff contradicts that, but it could had been a good idea for borg in their beginnings....🖖

For a Star Trek channel, they do see to make a lot of dumb mistakes like this. Especially when the Star Trek fanbase is known as one of the most nitpicky groups in existence.
@@Trekkie_Gal it's not nitpicky I think when it's very basic stuff, like, you know, somebody's NAME or a stand-out plot point or an entire episode. Nitpicky would be a complaint about the color of somebody's rank pips, something very small or easy to miss.

As a kid, I remember reading the history of the refit and NCC-1701-A Enterprise from the book Mr Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. In it, it said the ship that became the second Enterprise was already being built for being another class ship with transwarp drive (and that it basically was a faster form of warp). So transwarp was in the written canon.
The idea of the Borg farming species but testing their defences over time is basically the plot of Mass Effect. Except the Reapers leave tech behind to give species a leg up, rather than using war to drive innovation.
In TNG "Attached", Crusher learns for the first time that Picard was once in love with her, so I doubt he sired Wesley in his youth.
Picard never acted on his feelings (well, until the Picard series). But he felt immensely guilty for wanting his best friend's wife. Him not liking children has nothing to do with Beverly or Wesley or any of that.
Fan theories are fun, yes, but it is annoying when people cite them as fact.

Re: Tom Paris, there are TONS of guest stars that turned into full-fledged roles in later series. I think Locarno becoming Paris is no weirder than Ro Laren giving way to the character of Kira Nerys or uh Worf's baby momma (not good with names) later turning into B'elanna

In "Data's Day", Data mentions the Hindu Festival of Lights, Diwali. Also, Khan himself is supposed to have been a Sikh from India. I doubt he would have destroyed it.
