    Okay this is exactly the tip I need. I'm going over to my mom and sister's house to fix about a 4 x 5 ft section that got rain damage and just need to get the thing up before my mom comes home from the hospital tomorrow. I doubt I'll have anybody helping me and this is just the trick that will do what I need.

      @RobLawrence2 I was able to get all the old damaged drywall and insulation out and prep the area and put new insulation in but even though it was only about a 4 x 5 ft area, on a ladder I could not get that sheet up by myself. I think my sister bought some special fire-rated drywall, and I swear I've never felt drywall that darn heavy before. Going to have to get an extra set of hands to finish the job.

      heres an extra tip - have a straight edge about 120 cm - with the 30cms marked off - (30, 60, 90, 120) - when you draw your line from the first screws you put in to the next screws (so you know where the joists are) - flick the pencil at the 30, 60, 90 marks so you know where to drill the screws exactly.....

    This is edited down to take 30 seconds in reality it took a while, and probably about 2 or 3 dry fits.

    do we do the ceiling first before the walls? Or it doesn't matter?

    • @brendonmanship8854
      @brendonmanship8854 9 місяців тому +3

      Ceiling before the walls always. When you do it that way your wall boards get butted up to the edge of the ceiling panel, and act as a sort of a ledge to support the edges of the boards around the perimeter.

    This is more work and worse results than just renting or buying a drywall lift. There's huge gaps between the sheets where he drives those screws in to hold the board up which are not going to be fun to tap and mud. A drywall life costs less than $200 for a cheaper one if you're only going to be using it for DIY and rarely or can be rented from Home Depot. This really isn't a good tip unless you've never seen or done drywall before.
