As people move west, I don't see how a couple of miles commecting hwy 58 could do much. Bakersfield needs a belt. As more and more houses are being built in the SW and NW, we need a freeway that connects both As more and more families and people are moving to the southwest, it'll make more sense for Bakersfield to make a belt. This "centennial corridor" is useless for those not living in the NW side. They need to build a freeway connecting NW to SW to SE, and eventually all around Bakersfield Proper.
Why should we believe it's gonna open this time....they said it was gonna be open by new years.....I live in enos and rosedale so I'm looking forward to cutting time off my commute to get to the east side of town or valley plaza mall
Well, that freeway connection has taken way too long for what it is. The CAHSR is magnitudes more complicated and expensive, but Bakersfield will see a HSR station open in 2030. Kind of ironic that a relatively conservative city would get a HSR station before either LA or SF.

Think of what'll happen if the 710 goes underground, and gets headed south to Alhambra via South Pasadena, CA, mate.

I think we should delay the opening again due to all this rain.
Maybe it will be smoother then the west side freeway, that freeway feels like it was built by amateurs.
How does this get built but California High Speed Rail is still under construction and people doubting it’s usefulness

Because this will be useful.
