I’m at about 1,700 hours in KCD 1. Googling KCD 2 every single day for the past 4 years has been a wild experience, then I see that live trailer announcement with Luke and Tom.
I liked how you brought up how you can play good or bad Henry, since the devs specifically said KCD2 is NOT a story about Henry becoming a Hero, but a Warrior.
Having the freedom to roleplay one way or another has been a huge focus of mine as of late. It’s a standard I want to expect from these types of RPG’s because when done well, it adds so much more excitement when playing outside of combat!
@@Kintzugi i literally finished the first kcd last week and it's already in my top3 all time games, and i think the next one will be my all time number 1
At this point of history, Žižka was relatively unknown. His feud with the Rožmberk family, who were basically the most powerful nobles in Bohemia right after the royal family itself, forced him to become the raubritter, which almost led to his premature death. He was saved by Jan Sokol (another excellent Bohemian leader) and pardoned by the king Wenceslas himself. After these events, he became vigorously loyal to the king, eventually fought in the war between Poland and the Teutonic Order and finally, after death of Jan Hus, became an undefeated general who ruined Sigismund's plans to secure the Bohemian Crown. I also have to mention that Hynek, known as the Dry Devil, will be in KCD2 as well. He was on the same level as Žižka, claimed the life of Albert IV, Duke of Austria and almost killed the Sigismund himself. This period is full of skillful and innovative commanders.
Historically, Jan Zizka is in Poland fighting the Teutonic knights at this time. Just like Marvrak von Aulitz is dead, even at the start of KCD1. The team at Warhorse do take some liberties with history. Not many, but they do.
@@Kintzugi hello, I heard somewhere (I am not 100% sure) that the nickname was given to him by some Bavarian priest, who hated his guts after Hynek pillaged that area multiple times. And he called him something like "trockene teufel" based on two letters 'T' next to each other on Hynek's crest. Hynek was amused and gladly accepted the nickname :)
@@Kintzugi Sorry for the late answer. He got that nickname during the Margrave Wars between Jobst and Prokop. We've already seen Jobst in the epilogue of KC:D1. Hynek fought for Prokop, causing terrible damage to the Moravian and Austrian allies of Jobst. He was given his nickname by his enemies for his horrifying deeds, which YT wouldn't allow me to even mention. It is not known who gave him that nickname, but he liked it enough to start using it himself.
@@megadutcher4107 Well, according to the developers, "KCD 2" will be what should have been first one, but seven years ago they didn't have enough experience or money to realize that vision. So yeah - I'd say it's going to be a GoW Ragnarok situation
Sounds less like transmog and more like custom loadouts so you don't have to manually change every article of clothing when you want to switch from battle mode to sneak mode
I met Tobi on CSII Czech Championship finals in Brno, where he was with Warhorse showing off a 20 mimutes long preview. I chatted with him for a few minutes and he seems to be a great guy.
Watch the first part of the game from the IGN video, there are a couple of important things there: -You can play as other characters (the game starts with you playing as father Godwin in a siege) -You start at level 15, with most stats stuck at 15, no info on max level or stat caps -Same as the first one, some conversations will get you an initial specialization that boost some stats gearing towards specific gameplay styles (warrior, scout or diplomacy). -Initial dialog gives you a weapon specialization (swords, halberds or ranged) -Some elements of the first game carry over to KCD2 from the dialog as well... for instance, you can set your relationship with she who can't be named -They implemented a more comprehensive persuasion system, with more options and explicitly said (and showed) that the highest stat doesn't win -Riposte now needs to be triggered manually after a perfect block, and it can be blocked as well -Crossbows don't sway as much as bows and don't consume stamina while aimed down. Still no crosshair -You start with Mutt and Pebbles... Mutt seems a tad more annoying than in the first one, we'll see There were also some weird regressions.. for instance, Henry can read but doesn't understand Latin (which is not possible, since both are learned at the same time, plus you had some practice in the monastery).
Strange regarding the understanding of Latin, but all of the other details you shared add to my point of this game being the one to beat next year! Especially regarding a more comprehensive persuasion system!
Correct me if I’m wrong but from what I remember Henry only learned how to say latin words, not what they mean. When he was learning how to read he was asked to just repeat the text out loud
@@filipadsiekierka5350 In theory, it should be the same, at least to some extent. Henry was raised in a very religious environment, and all sermons were supposed to be in latin (during Godwin drunken quest, you learn that Jan Hus just started doing it Czech), followed by an explanation of the passage. Other lowborn people in the trailer seem to know the meaning, so this seems geared towards us, more than anything else.
It’s actually insane.. thank you and will do!! 🫡 And I also agree, I think the gaming community is more aware of a game like this these days and it’s getting the recognition it deserves! It helps that Warhorse shows through their actions that they are very much for the players too!

I’m really interested in this game-did not play the first one. Are there random events like rdr2 at all? What are a few top things you do in the game that kept you in for that many hours? Thanks
@@goatcoffee There are random encounters but what I liked to do was play the hardcore mode, roleplay differently and make the game more challenging by picking all debuffs except for the xp one at the start and choosing armor not for stats but for whatever look I was going for and roleplaying like a drunk stinking degenerate or a respectable God fearing Christian etc. I found enjoyment in making the game harder economically by being honorable, not being a greedy pinch purse, no grave robbing, no stealing, always donating to the church and buying a horse with saddle before the game gifts you one for challenge, fun and unique cutscene etc. Slowing the progression is fun because stealing is too powerful and making money honorably is fun. I liked bounty hunting, being an alchemist, hunter, etc. I was really addicted to the realism, immersion, setting and combat that you can’t find in any other games, so I replayed it a lot.

Jan Žižka personally defeated "only" three crusades. He could not do more because he died in 1424. The Hussite Wars lasted from 1419 to 1434. On the other hand, Žižka not only never lost a battle, but even won the last few battles, after he lost his other eye and was completely blind.

I'm sure the story, graphics, characters are going to be solid, just like it is in the first one, but I've doubts about stealth system. I hope they did improve stealth system in this one.
