Just what a gardener is like, you go to do one job,and you keep finding other jobs along the way. And then you can't remember what you was going to do in the first place. Oh yes back to the weeds.
love your no nonsense approach to gardening. I find it very encouraging as apposed to other gardeners that make you fearful of getting things wrong. cheers!
🙋hi from Scotland hi John thank you for taking the time to share an other great vidio I love all the tips and information you give us ,who is filming your vidios with you when you take off fast they are running trying to keep up with you lol and john I love your shirts take care stay safe Anne Scott from Scotland
Was gifted a Cotinus 'Grace' for my birthday this week--after my daughters kept having me pause the videos, repeatedly, over lockdown, so they wouldn't miss the name of the thing!
Thanks for the great videos, John...they’re really informative. How do you keep weeds from growing in your gravel paths...especially when you drop compost and soil on the paths?
Hi John any tips on dealing with crabgrass? This weed actually grows faster than I can pull it out. I agree with Pink Peony, your videos with a morning coffee are the best way to start the day!!
Impulse chopping , weeds now and weeds past . A gardeners life ... do not let them in , my motto for gardening is don’t make work . A certain amount of control makes for easier maintenance and more rest enjoying your work done . As a working gardener myself I come across some right problems . Thanks John great to see you working again . I may try the rose dead heading using the digging fork technique
I can guarantee that every time I watch your videos they will make me laugh (the chain saw massacre). There is just something so charming about the Irish and their honesty. The advice is brilliant though (don’t mess with the chainsaw)
Great tips. How do I get rid of Bishop's Weed with a mobility issue. It is next to a hydrangea that is low maintenance. Last year I used a rake to pull it out. It is growing in very acidic soil. I don't mind some of it with its small purple flowers but if zi don't keep it controlled it will grow everywhere. Usually after a spring trim it stays calm till next spring.
In 2018 many trees were cut down and shredded along roads here: now in 2022 the areas where the bulkier shreddings were dumped still have almost no grass, fungi or wild flowers growing. That's some mulch.
I grew sea holly from seed this january, transplanted into the garden fine, it got bigger, and I somehow killed it last week. Turned brown in one day and was gone. Better luck next time I hope.
Hi John, in one of your video's you talked about ground cover plants to suppress the weeds. One was a Lamium you recommended shade that didn't spread too much. I can't find the video on which Lamium if was. Do you remember which one it is please.
i was all "don't pull out the ivy!" here its a house plant haha. It reminds me of a video of some crazy British lady who was planting Foxtail! Hordeum Jabatum I just thought...you will be sorry!!
I think I heard you extolling the virtues of Neem oil in the garden and mentioning that they are not dangerous to pollinators. This is not true! Neem oil must be applied very early in the day or late in the evening to avoid times that pollinators are active. It is not easy to find this info bc it is buried on the directions labels, so we need to warn people! Can you please go into your video and add some text correcting this important mistake at the timestamp where it occurs? FYI I am addicted to your videos... I am learning so much as a new gardener! Thank you for creating this community.
Some of the weeds like morning glory and wisteria have such an extensive root system that it's impossible to dig up without breaking the roots into pieces. It doesn't really worry me though. I go after it as soon as each piece "rears it's ugly head". At this point I'm going after the root ends with a professional forest tree stump and vine killer. I'm really hoping to effectively kill it off this year although I have to say, that just by patrolling my garden every day, not a single vine managed to get out of control this year.
I've got so many invasive weeds (including bluebells- Spanish?) I have to keep up on - aegapodium, wood anenome that I"m busy as hell until July.....🙄Under control at the moment tho....Hope you never get those...
I don't get how John isn't more popular on UA-cam. This is satisfying gardening at its finest.
Well, he's gained about 14K followers since I started watching him which was a year plus ago. Not bad.
I am in the US & he is very practical in what he says. I have learned so much from him
A cup of morning coffee and a new video by John is a marvelous way to start my day!
I agree. I love watching him or Garden answer in the morning with my coffee. They always motivate me to get out and give the garden some love.
Thank you for putting the variety names on the screen. It’s very helpful for those of us who might see a plant we’d like to put in our gardens. ♥️🌾🌻🌺🌱
I love my garden and have to touch everything as I pass, as I notice you do - but to be honest, I visit to hear that lovely Irish accent ❤
I always feel as if I have dropped in on you unexpectedly, whilst you were busy doing something else. What a lovely garden.
Just what a gardener is like, you go to do one job,and you keep finding other jobs along the way. And then you can't remember what you was going to do in the first place. Oh yes back to the weeds.
I love this guy. His videos are a guaranteed smile.

Where have you been!
Cheers, John! Immensely helpful as usual, especially with my half an acre of abandoned woodland garden. :)
John, how about a garden tour? I would love to see your garden.
I've been to his gardens, they are beautiful. They are in SE of the UK
You are my gardening hero!
Always find it funny how ruthless John is with his plants. But plants can absolutely take it! Shows how you don't need to be gentle to be a gardener.
He's given me permission not to be so scared of doing the wrong thing! So freeing!
Speak roughly to your little plants and beat them when they........ceases? Couldn't think of a perfect rhyme!😉
Just found your channel can’t wait to see the garden tour.
Oh you crack me up. Great character and shows i your fearless approach to gardening.
Thanks for the tips! And sharing your garden!😊

‘ Bind weed similar to chain letters that we had years ago...out of control’ So true! 😂
Thanks for the great videos, John...they’re really informative. How do you keep weeds from growing in your gravel paths...especially when you drop compost and soil on the paths?

I’m fighting bindweed right now! It’s in the neighbours yards and it’s the worst! Thanks for the video, John! Garden looks lovely!
Really enjoy your videos and all the useful information and tips you give.

I'm ordering a few of those 'Bonica 82' roses, the one that gets hit in the end.
The viewer is Spending a good deal of the video watching you walk to the next part of the garden.
Any tips for mares tail?
Thankyou John . I'm going to try tha bark mulch this year . I have a raised flower bed , about 10 by 10 ft . I can't reach the middle to hand weed . K

Dead Nettle is the bane of my life

Добрый день Джон! С огромным удовольствием смотрю Вашу работу. У Вас хороший вкус! Удачи Вам!...)
Thanks
So brutal with his pruning
The next video will be all about looking at the plants? I thought that's what this was about :)
Lot of energy.
Jesus of all people that shouldn’t be allowed to have a chainsaw is The frantic gardener..😂

New Subscriber Great Tips Thank you!
Can SO relate to the "chainsaw moment", I think most of us have been there! :)
Thankyou John, did you know David Howgate?
Can i have whatever your on, such enthusiasm. if i dead headed anything like you did i be afraid of killing it. :)
John and a new chainsaw........oh dear!
No pre-emergents?
John, how to kill ivy growing on mature trees . I have cut the ivy vines at the base of the tree but it does not kill it . Is there a better way ?
The ivy regrows from the base but slowly, so every few years you have to remove it again.
Hi John
What's the name that rose near the end of the video,
Rose Bonica, the one I dead headed with a fork.
Hi John, in one of your video's you talked about ground cover plants to suppress the weeds. One was a Lamium you recommended shade that didn't spread too much. I can't find the video on which Lamium if was. Do you remember which one it is please.
Lamiastrum (Latium) ‘Herman’s Pride’
🌿🌿🌿Enjoyed‼️🌿🌿🌿

He’s right about the ivy. My neighbor planted it on our adjoining fence and I spent every other week yanking the creepers out of my lawn.

John`s such a gorgeous man!!!!!!!
I cringe when you start working like Rambo in your garden 😫.😄😊. Thanks for your information and entertainment. 👍❤️😊
My kind of gardener.
No herbicides?
This guy is a joker, very funny 😄
I'm a believer 😊🤭
My border is covered in bind weed and ground elder 😭
Great video. I think I've read too many novels. I know your name is John Lord but I keep switching it accidentally and calling you Lord John. LOL
Who cleans up the mess of the weeds and cut up roses?
A very different style from Monty Don's!

I'd be more concerned about controlling weeds in all that gravel.
John's extreme pruning reminded me of Father Ted's dented car: ua-cam.com/video/Z4fBbhyzE9A/v-deo.html
I think we got it all! If only that were true.....
Please john lord please more up dated video's more regular .
😊👍
2.39 Oh no, poor plants!
Do I see you nursing your right knee!. Take care John. Knees!
Moonshine and sit in your shack....WTF.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My husband is the same way with a chainsaw!
Man, you're rough! I know it's your way and I mostly like it. But sometimes.....(You did nick that hosta leaf, dude.)
Damn you're brutal.
Do you think Adam and Eve had to deal with weeds in the Garden of Eden?
After they sinned came the weeds.
@@carlaradke4066 they were the weeds
