What I've been doing my past couple phones is actually waiting 3 years (not because its 3 years but it just so happened that I needed to buy a phone and it was 3 years since I changed my phone haha), BUT what I do is buy a used refurbished flagship phone. It's a huge upgrade from the current phone so it's great until it breaks, then you get to go shopping for another newer gen refurbished phone for a very affordable price, about 1/5th of original retail price.
I’ve saved the money from holding my last phone for over 4 years, which was essentially free, and it’s been due a battery replacement that I’ve stalled for the new launch. A new iPhone is a great purchase for me right now since I need the camera improvements sorely and it sure beats buying and carrying something completely extra with me for the purpose. I’m not switching from the Apple ecosystem anytime soon and don’t use Google products/services (UA-cam is about it; their search only _very_ rarely). The biggest flex is to buy your stuff with your money right away and then tell everybody you could afford it..
Not really since it's not the only phone they make, they have budget phones that are still good unlike apple, therefore making it a reasonable price because you don't have to buy the top of the line phone you have other less expensive options.
I got a 15 because my 11 is worn out, I buy an unlocked iPhone every 4 years and do prepaid with my carrier as it’s the cheapest way I have found unless you do multiple lines. Cost of ownership for a Pro comes out to be $20 a month, unlimited data plan is $45 so $65 a month / $780 a year total, works for me.
I’m still using the Pro Max version and I’m not willing to get the pro version of 15 I would just standard instead, or wait to upgrade to just the standard 16
See you in 2026 with you 5th phone switch This strategy of same design every year is good in my opinion. If you buy an iphone 4 years later it is still trendy. @@Alex_Lune- Apple only throttles down phones with old batteries that can’t handle peak processor loads and it’s not like they hide it, it tells you if it’s being throttled under battery health and a new battery solves that. They also throttle down when the battery is very cold.
I had a Samsung phone once and it was alright at first. But then after two years, the battery would run out in less than 3 hours and the phone itself would get all laggy and slow to the point where it was frustrating to use. After that bad experience I stopped buying Samsung phones. Also their settings app sucks and there's way too much bloatware Samsung crap on there.
I agree, in the sense of buying them year to year. I bought an iPhone 14 pro max this year after using cheap android phones for the past 10 years I think? The last iPhone I had was a 5C and coming back to iPhone after all these years made it seem like it really had evolved. So I think I’ll keep this one for about 6 to 7 years before I upgrade.
Do you not think buying any phone that’s 1000$ every year is a waste of money? For example, Samsung phones are priced equivalently to iPhones, and upgrading Samsung phones every year would be considered “stupid.” Therefore, it doesn’t matter which phone you buy, buying expensive phones every year in general is stupid.
Bro literally just explained ALL phones lol. Most phones nowadays make small additions year to year. Its not the mid 2000s anymore, we dont get phones with crazy flipping out keyboards and stuff anymore. People dont buy a new phone every year either. I bought my iPhone SE back in 2020 because I wanted a device that would LAST. £400 for the iPhone SE got you a phone faster than any Android on the market at the time, and completely humiliated any £1,500 Android flagships. Plus, 7 years of software support - many Androids do only half of that even now.
People buy it for flexing I have a cousin which has the new iPhone and he keeps flexing it and telling its price its so annoying and the crazies part is that hes about 6 to 7 years old I blame the parents
He meant the people who upgrading the phone for the same phone from the previous... It's ok to buying iphone, its a good phone, but if you wasting your money for the same expensive product, it is stupid...
That's the reason why I'm finally getting my iPhone soon. It's just much more reliable, long lasting, also great performance and camera. Worth the price.
@mysterroniouscherry326 you could literally do the same thing and buy a samsung s23 which is arguably better than most iphones because only starting from the 13 pro up to 15 pro models have 120hz (base iphone 13 and 14 and 15 still have 60hz slow display) s23 has 4 years software support and the display is so bright and nice. S23 has better biometrics, it has a ultrasonic in display fingerprint sensor and face unlock, it has a 50MP camera, it records video in 8K 30fps or 4K 60fps, this is a phone that can easily last 5 years and it offers a much better experience when using it than most iPhones.
S23 costed 800 USD on release, same as iPhone 15. I can argue that iPhone is cheaper than Samsung because iPhone 6S still received iOS updates last month, which is its 8th year of updates. So technically, iPhone is half as cheap as Samsung in the long run, if it only has 4 years of updates and support.

Samsung had a sale when it first released and you could get a base S24 128GB for under $300 new. But they don't do it anymore.
You don’t have to buy the latest phone .
Not really since it's not the only phone they make, they have budget phones that are still good unlike apple, therefore making it a reasonable price because you don't have to buy the top of the line phone you have other less expensive options.
Someone's jealous of Android new cool features 🤣🤣
I got a 15 because my 11 is worn out, I buy an unlocked iPhone every 4 years and do prepaid with my carrier as it’s the cheapest way I have found unless you do multiple lines. This strategy of same design every year is good in my opinion. If you buy an iphone 4 years later it is still trendy. But some android phones just look way out dated and not recognizable.

Im sure if the companies released an old phone with old features with new name they will buy it gladly
Nope.
And iPhone users are toxic cuz all they do is to make fun out of anyone who doesn't have a latest iPhone
That’s why you wait like two years after when it’s a lot cheaper than it was. Still get years of updates to come even then. Good investment.

Although people should keep their phones for many years and not always upgrade to the newest one each year lol😂
My iPhone will last twice as long as your Android. 🤷🏼♂️
Performance and battery life excluded, of course
I always buy 2 generations behind. And both of my kids have Iphones. So when the 15 comes out, as it did today, Ill buy a 13, right after they mark the price down $100 right after the 15 announcement and presentation. Then I will hand my 12 down to one of my kids. I alternate who I give my old phone to every year. I have a new phone every year and they have a new phone every 2 years. I pay zero percent interest thru apple card, so I usually have about 45 a month in phone payments. Its on 24 month payments so payments stay constant and all 3 of us stay having updated phones.
Very smart move I would like to hear your opinion, I bought an iPhone 11 back in 2021 and I think by the time the iPhone 16 is out the 15 would be in a nice discount then for an upgrade
I stay 2 gens behind because the price point between the 2 and technological advances don't make up the difference enough to buy a newer gen. Apple products are usually good for 4 gens max before they start phasing out apps and usefullness. But every year when they announce they update their store. Theyll drop the oldest phone then theyll lower th 2 year old phones $100 like clock work.@@xdrazormon454
Good point
That’s why I always buy the old models I used a 11 for 2 years then I sold it and brought a new xr 😂
Not a wise move, 13 would’ve been best choice to upgrade
The thing is if you do that you can only keep the phone 1-2 years max
Bought my new iPhone 11 a day after launch in September of 2019 for around $800 (I can’t remember the exact amount). Still using that phone to this day! It doesn’t run anywhere near as good as it used to and the battery is pretty bad these days, but it’s the longest I have ever owned a phone. Not too displeased with having an iPhone going on 5 years! Back in the day, 2 years was about the most you could get one to last. 3 years max!
Those kind of people's logic is run off marketing and branding. No other real core reasoning to their purchase.
“Is that worth 1000$ every year?” 🤨
“Yes. Yes it is”
No it is not stop capping
The best shorts i have ever seen till now
Sounds like nobody can afford to buy a new iphone every, but i aint going shame you brothers who can actually do it, i respect the hustle.
i mean isn't that what all tech companies do? like tell me a difference between s23 ultra and s24 ultra? I don't think it's only the apple who makes the same phone every year. And Samsung even charges 1400$ for s24 ultra meanwhile iphone 15 goes arround 1000$
This is why I have samsung and it's better than that stupid iphone
“Text, scroll through social media and take selfies” sums up everyone with any kind of phone
Thank you for talking me out of it
What if your IPhone 7 Plus is broken and half of the screen is dead ☠️
Same with Samsung it’s $1000+with a screen, no home button, can call people, and has games
Edit: what about iPhone SE series? They start at $400
Caring what phone someone uses is actually pathetic
Upgrading from anything under an iPhone 12 is worth upgrading to the 14 or 15 but if you got an 14 pro max don’t get a 15 pro max it’s literally the same
The iPhone 12 and 15 dont have big differences
Bro may they do Gaming?? 🤷🤷
For 1000$ you can buy Nintendo swich or PlayStation
