This was a big help, but I discovered that on my older F-150, I had to keep the driver's door closed to put it into programming mode. I also pressed the unlock and lock buttons on the keyfobs at the same time (one fob at a time) to program each fob. I honestly don't know if that was necessary, but I had been told to do so and it worked.
Good job. For the wonky-eyed, an installation tip. To align decals/pads perfectly, I do whatever is necessary (measuring, asking my spouse...) to determine placement using painters tape. The tape then, and not my eye, is the guide. GK
I have one of those level eyes. I can see something not straight immediately. It gives me OCD when I do projects. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment.
I tried to add the Ford keypad to my 2008 E150, but this process didn't work. I google instructions and yours was the best one that came up, but no luck for me.
Your rig needs to have keyless entry with a key FOB already installed and active. Perhaps 2008 is a different model door keypad. I would call any Ford service dept. and confirm the model number you need.
@@RVHabit Yes, thanks. I have key fobs and and old door key pad that has finally died. I bought the new keypad from the dealer, but it didn't come with instructions to program it to the vehicle.
UPDATE. The keypads come with a default communication type = 2. I have a 2008 E150 and that requires a communication type=1. This is also true for a lot of other vehicles. Fortunately, you can reprogram the communication type using the following procedure: Press the 1/2, 3/4 and 9/0 buttons simultaneously for at least one second. The LED above the 9/0 key will flash rapidly. Enter the master code keypad unlock. You have to start this within 5 seconds. The LED above the 9/0 key will flash once per second for Communication Type =2, and three times per second for Communication Type = 1. You have 10 seconds to press the the 9/0 key to change the protocol to Communication Type = 2, or to press the 1/2 button to change to Communication Type =1. (Note that you can only press one button. If you press the wrong button you have to exit the session. ) After the the button is registered, the LED flash rate will change to reflect the new setting (1 time per second or three times per second). Within 5 seconds, press the 5/6 key to confirm the new setting. The LED above the 9/0 key will flash 4 times to confirm the protocol change and the key pad will turn off. I hope this helps someone else and I struggled with this for several days before getting help from the dealer.
The battery on mine has not run out. I believe you can slowly pry the cover off to change battery. It does have some glue on it so go slowly. I never tried it but others have told me it can be done.
@@RVHabit I did not have that experience last time the battery ran out. It was a mess removing the pad and a disaster (fragile electronics) trying to replace the battery. I and ended up purchasing a new one to replace it. I'm figuring there is likely a way to replace the battery and continue use , even if removal is necessary. I do not see any videos on successful battery replacement so am really curious to hear from anyone who has successfully replaced the battery on an existing aftermarket keypad and been able to keep using it.
Just picked up the keypad at my dealer today. I have a new 2023 F250. I cannot get the keypad entry device to work. Ive made a dozen or more attempts. It did not come with instructions to pair it to the vehicle. The dealer says it is easy but have not given any advice. The keypad part is non-returnable. I'm really frustrated. I want it to work. Any advice?
well a 2023 is a different animal with all the computer technology in these vehicles. I believe F series is the same program instructions as E series. The keypad is essentially a key fob that is attached to the vehicle. Just search the Internet for Ford key fob programming. Again, for a 2023 it may not be the same as the traditional way. Good luck.
I want to put this on my 2014 F150. There is a card that came with the truck that has a master code. Not sure why when it doesn't have a keypad. That keypad you got comes with it's own master code. I would think you would need to use the code that is already programmed into the truck?
Hello as far as I remember they do make this for a transit. I do not see them listed on Amazon any longer. Any Ford dealer will be able to get it for you. Good luck.

Hi Brian, I got this never thinking how often I would actually use it but I use it constantly. I never have to get my keys now. Stop back and let us know how the install goes.
Great video Lou like usual I just purchased one of these myself on Amazon but I do have one question I assume it comes with a code for it can you put your own code in and is it easy to do or how do you do it thanks Don Ontario Canada
Yes it comes with a master code card that goes in your owners manual. You can also program your own personal 5 digit code. The directions should come with it but if they don't I have the directions in PDF for on my website at www.rvhabit.com/post/ford-keyless-entry-wireless-keypad-installation-and-programming-class-c-rv-ford-e-series Let me know if you need any further help.
Hi Phil, Mine is exactly that. I have a 2016 but the Ford chassis built in late 2015. According to what I have read though this should work for just about any of the Ford Chassis E series that has key fobs.
A broken key fob has no bearing on programming. The vehicle computer programs the fobs. So any working fob can be programmed. You can purchase a new fob if needed the link is in the description. Good luck.
@@RVHabit okay thank you very much just having problems with it programming to my vehicle did everything it was supposed to when I come up to push the buttons on the keypad it wouldn't do anything and then time would run out for the programming

@@rookiecarilli4914 yeah that’s happened to mine as well, I will enter the code like 6-7 times before it finally unlocks. Did replacing it give you better luck?
I’ve had mine for a couple of years now. I’ve run into an issue though. When I go to lock it by pressing the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons, it locks just fine. But when I enter the code to unlock it, it takes about 6-7 attempts before it will actually unlock my truck. I know I am entering the right code because I have it memorized and I will look at the card it came with. I am also pushing the buttons all the way in. I’ve tried putting the code in slowly and still nothing. The only thing that works is punching it in multiple times. I drive a 2018 F-150. I’m not sure if this is a battery issue, or if it’s something else causing this problem.
I have the same issue. It will lock fine, after one to three tries, but cannot get the unlock to work with my code or the factory code. Had is on my 2007 Focus since 2017.
Our Minnie Winnie E-350 didn't come with a key FOB, only the standard key to manually lock/unlock. I wonder if there's something else I would need to buy in order to use this device?
Hi, I believe your vehicle needs to be key fob enabled. Try going into program mode and see if the locks cycle. If they do, pick up a cheap key fob (under $10) to see if it can be programmed to the vehicle. That's the easiest way I can think of without spending a lot of money. If the key fob works the keypad should work since it basically acts as an additional fob. I thought all the Ford cutaway chassis came with key fobs.
@@RVHabit Yes, that's what I'm going to do, as there is a manual lock/unlock actuator on the drivers door - so at least have that. This is a 2020 Winnebago Minnie Winnie 22R (built on a 2019 E-350 cutaway chassis), so was a bit surprised there were no FOBs - just two sets of keys. If I can get this upgraded, that will be awesome. Just want to say thanks for all your clever ideas!
Thank you. Please let me know if it works. I find it hard to believe A 2019 Cutaway Chassis does have keyless entry but anything is possible. I also can't believe Winnebago would order chassis without that option.
@@RVHabit Well, it looks like Winnebago doesn't provide the components to have a key fob on their E-350/E-450 cutaways. At one point they did, but apparently stopped about 9-10 years ago. Winnebago directly told me that my best bet is to work with aftermarket car/truck security shops if I want to have that capability. My E-350 was built on the last of the 6.8L V10 chassis'. Going forward, the new 2021 and later E350/E-450 RVs based on the 7.3L V8's will now have keyless entry (among many other new added features).
