As a primarily android user This is the iOS update I have been waiting for for years!
Why were you waiting if you're an Android user, and Android has had these features for years?

@@Jst4vdeostrue but now that iOS 18 is giving you RCS texting to android users. There no point anymore for people to have an iPhone and an android phone.
I am beyond hyped for satellite messaging. As someone who works in rural areas a lot… and a grandmother that doesn’t have service at her house, only WiFi. This is freaking amazing. No more driving 30 min to find service to send an update and if my grandmothers power goes out she can step out on the porch and text me that she is okay. Awesome. Is this something android counterparts have been doing or is this an Apple first? Yes… i know satellite phones exist… but not in this sense. Free (Assuming it’s free anyway), and built into a smartphone.
It won't be free, maybe for a short time period. I think even the emergency SOS was only promised free for 1 or 2 years. Basic texting likely will only be free for a short time then require a subscription.
@@Jst4vdeosprobably a year or two, which is pretty generous from Apple. Satellite access ain’t cheap.

FINALLY, we’ve wanted more customization with iPhone for YEARS and we are finally getting it. I haven’t been this excited for an iOS release since dark mode was announced.
Scheduling text messages is a small but much needed feature!

yeah definitely a progress but Android has this wallpaper based colour and light/dark mode (sync with wallpaper color) and whole ui since 4years ago, Android 15 gemini Ai and Circle to search is way ahead.

Yep, there are a few bugs. The battery life is quite crap! And location services you can’t turn on or off. I like the fact that you’ve got a power option in the control centre at the top and the like how they’ve made the control centre more customisable not too keen on the customisable icons due to you can’t change the folder icon or the size of the folder like you can on android you can have different themes as well. What do you think?

hopefully they will make the customized tinted app shading change or update with automated focus modes... so at night my tint will change with the wallpaper thats tied to a specific focus mode...

Im happy for Apple users. Finally they get some stuff us Android users have experience for years. Maybe not all the stuff but Apple is getting there. Better late than never 😊
It’s not about who does it first! It’s about who does it better! Period! Only Apple can implement features that provide ultimate experiences! No other😂😂😂😂By the way, I guess Android got Apple Intelligence since 400BC😂😂😂! Android inherently sucks from the ground up! Poor UX😂😂😂

You have to hand it to Apple for their hard work. I know the features might be available in other devices but the way Apple tries to deliver a polished experience is highly appreciated. The one thing I’m glad to see with iOS 18 is RCS texting to android user. Because RCS texting is just like iMessage. Well with the important stuff anyways. So if apple is finally going away from sms and mms when and apple iPhone user texts an android user. Dose that mean the phone carriers are going to shut down the sms and mms services?
I think it will be a slow phase out. It won't just switch over and shut off SMS/MMS

its honestly not too bad, just feels like normal usage maybe drains like a little faster not too fast though
I don't recommend downloading in any betas on your personal device.

Even plugging it into a computer there is no true file system

Wow finally apple finally caught up to (2012) Android, lol. All kidding aside I love it. The color and tinting feature is really cool, I think I love that the most. Cheers apple mafia, finally getting something substantial for once. Now I'll have to dust of my iPhone 12. Cheers.
The Hidden feature is not that great if it just means scrolling to the far right. That’s just reallocating to different page.. 😅

Where it says developer beta tap that and you should see iOS 18 developer beta
If you have a developer’s account (Not free) you can have access to the beta as soon as they release it. Otherwise you will be waiting until September when it’s officially released to everyone.

Android has it since ages, but Apple did it better.
Not going to lie that icon colouring looks pretty awful. Cant actually change out icons, just puts a colour filter on them. Not great.
