The BeeGees have been going for fifty years . I can not think of any other band that changed their music with the times like these guys .They still and forever will always be . Barry is still writing songs and singing .Unfortunately we lost four of the BeeGees to soon Rest In Peace.
They had hit after hit after hit and it was so much fun to dance to their music in the 70s. I feel so blessed to have grown up at that time. These guys were my all time favorite.
The summer this was released I was 10; I had the 45 rpm of this and played it over and over and over - so much so that my parents refer to that as “The Summer of Tragedy” 😂 I still love it!
Oh wow, I was 10 in 1998 when the Steps cover came out and it was later in the year so summer was just starting (in New Zealand). As bee gees fans since the 60s, my parents redirected me to the original version they had on CD and I played it on repeat all that summer 😂. History repeats!
I guess we are same age! But I listened Tragedy not in 1979 when it was released, but bit later. I was mesmerized and did the same, listened again and again the whole Spirits album! All songs on that album just increadible, but Tragedy is just a gem!
GO ALL THE WAY back to 1968 to I'VE GOT TO GET A MESSAGE TO YOU and start there and I challenge you to find a song that does not evoke an emotion. YOU DON'T LISTEN to the BeeGees you feel them. I have felt them on the disco dance floor (yes I am that old) and watched my partner feel it too.
It makes me happy to see anyone in your generation loving our music!! Some music transcends time because ITS JUST GOOD MUSIC!! Thanks, young man, for bridging the generation gap!❤️❤️❤️
Thing is I didnt fully appreciate them when I was young because we were into all the cool music at the time . But as I got older I realised just how incredible they were. Now I cant get enough!
I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear watching your reactions to this group. Virtually every single song of there's is a classic across the globe. Glad you love their music so much.
Yep….& Andy’s Shadow Dancing!!! Barry said on Piers Morgan special in 2017 that they’d take “a pill”…..& were good to go for 8-10 hours(if you know what I mean🤔)!!
They wrote "Too Much Heaven" "Tragedy" and "Shadow Dancing" (for baby brother Andy) all in the same afternoon....The Bee Gees were POWER HOUSES when it came to writing, singing and producing.
There is a “Making of Tragedy” video showing The Bee Gees in studio and the process they go through when recording a song. It is a great inside look at the guys and their personalities. It would also be a great video for a reaction from you.
That’s a good video. Shows some of their humor and how Barry made the explosion sound was really funny. It also blows me away on how they finish writing the lyrics and just walk in and start singing the track. Hell, the music starts before Barry even gets into the studio!
Listening to the BeeGees got me through all my treatments for breast cancer was great to introduce the nurses taking care of me to the music of the Beegees, almost all are now Beegees fans.
I imagine most Bee Gees fans can tell you that the "explosion" at 6:56 is Barry making the noise in the microphone. There's a cool video about the recording of this song.
burned out a couple of these guys tapes in the 90s when i and all my friends were huge metal heads in public, had no idea thats badass. EDIT i should say they were a guilt pleasure when i was at home.
Love this one, too. But then, the Bee Gees are MY favorite artists of all time. They were magic! I hope you'll listen to their song "Emotion." It was actually recorded first by Samantha Sang, but they wrote, and then later, recorded it, themselves. BEAUTIFUL! LOVED your reaction, Bro!
I think you would love watching the video where they showed the recording of this song! It’s amazing the things they had to do to get the sounds they wanted. It took 8 minutes to write the lyrics and one time singing the song to recording it! No rehearsal before recording the song, they just did it! These 3 brothers were born with a true gift!
I just love your reactions! You're so animated. So happy to see you've found my music. Have you heard " Fanny Be Tender?" Great song. The Bee Gees never made a bad song. Ever. Enjoy!
The beegees career spanned FIVE decades! I would love to see you react to some music from one of their other periods... Like "Spicks and Specks" which was recorded when they were teenagers! Or "To Love Somebody" written by Barry for Otis Redding who sadly didnt live to record it.... Or listen to "This is where I came in" recorded in 2001 not long before Morris' death. I could name maybe 50 songs that you NEED to hear. You need to hear Barry's non-falsetto voice. Or Robbin's soul piercing voice on "I cant see nobody" (midnight special version) OMG I adore how much you are enjoying their dance music but they are so SO much more. m.ua-cam.com/video/CouKuIk_P0s/v-deo.html
Try "words" "to love somebody " paying the price of love" "fanny" "one " "love you inside out " "you win again " "I gotta get a message to you " "man in the middle " "this is where I came in " "how do you mend a broken heart " try some of these, there are sooooo many. Plus, Robin and Barry made solo albums.
@@juliefox1743 i think it was because it was their next step forward into or toward what was becoming popular at that time. So, not so many people expected it. It's part of what always made them great, they tried different things while still being true to themselves.
I agree. They were never confined by genre. I always said that if you took a recording of "this is where i came in" and brought it to a progressive/alternative type radio station at the time without the name beegees on it that the program manager would play the shit out of that song.
Born in the wrong era!!!! You need a time machine to transport you to the 70's!!! Magical time for music!!!💜🎵🎶🎼😊🤟 They made life bearable as a teenager!!!
Young Sir, this whole album is a MASTERPIECE. Now I Know how you react, so I HIGHLY recommend reaching out, and satisfied. Both will tear you apart. GUARANTEED.
"Spirits Having Flown" is on that same album. And "Fanny, Be Tender With My Love" is another good one. Your views will go sky high with these two gems! :-)
Great choice. If you can find video of them to watch on your own (there are several) singing this one it is really fun to watch. Fun fact, the "explosion" is actually Barry's voice. I suggest Lonely Days - the 1997 live concert version is my absolute favorite version and a real crowd pleaser.
At one point, 5 of their songs were in the top 10 music charts, and Barry had written 3 songs that were in the top 5. I enjoy the Bee Gees just as much today as I did when they were topping the charts. Talent overflowing.
Fanny be tender with my love def. Love your reviews and positivity. The Bee Gees have spoken to my soul for years. Lovely to see a young man discover all their great music.
In December 1968 I made my first overseas trip, first stop was the island of Java in Indonesia. I was shocked/surprised when all the young people just wanted to know about the Bee Gees. As an Australian we knew all of their hits and loved them, but it was great to know that their fame had spread to other countries. Pretty soon they had conquered the world. Making a big comeback now in Covid-19 lockdown.
Even though their music goes back a few years, great talent like this is timeless. It's as perfect today as it was when it first came out. I haven't seen anyone else recommend these two, but don't miss either of these songs: Love You Inside Out, and You Win Again. And so much more. Basically, like you said, ALL their songs are GREAT. The others below are also GREAT (How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Fanny Be Tender, on and on and on). They were and are the best, most talented singers and song writers ever. And how many do you know who would donate the profits made by some of their songs to charity? Love your honest and fun reactions. Hope you'll do another Bee Gees reaction video soon. God bless you and all the good folks here!
You just made my day!!! I can't stop smiling. This song came out the year I graduated from high school. I remember the first time I heard it; I was driving home after school in my 1963 VW bug, windows down, big hair blowing in the wind and this premiered on the radio.... It stole my heart very first listen. It never gets old. Play on!!
I love tragedy . I agree with you wholeheartedly. Go back even further! - Blowing In The Wind (1963) - Bee Gees

"Love You Inside and Out" - Bee Gees
I was obsessed with this song in my childhood, this is such a great song. Awesome band.
They were even better songwriters than performers. They had great vocals and harmonizing.
My generation is pleased to hand down our music to younger ears.
Another song that has this vibe, but not the Bee Gees, is "What a Feeling" by Irene Cara. Now I gotta go listen to it.
And Gloria by Laura Branigan
Love this song!!!!
