If you listen to Tusk it's a completely different sound again. Its brilliant. The live version is by far the best. Getting the full affect of the full matching band is incredible.
This is definitely my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. It has every element that makes it a song that will last forever as one of the greatest. The instrumentation and musical expression is top- notch. I have been listening to this song and album since it's release, it's one of those songs that keeps getting better and more meaningful every time you listen to it. Fantastic and absolutely beautiful.
This entire Album has hit , after hit song. Maybe the beast selling album of the 1970s, and that's saying a lot. That was the "Classic Rock" era. Great music in those days.
Three different vocalists, three different songwriters, so every album of theirs has a variety of different styles. Tusk, Sisters of the Moon, Brown Eyes, Sara, I'm So Afraid, Isn't It Midnight, Little Lies, Angel, Silver Springs, The Ledge, Think About Me.
@@sandrahutto Sandra, there's a different, even better version of "Tusk" available on the box set "The Chain--25 Years" that opens with the USC band doing their thing. It's thrilling! But no one has yet uploaded that mix to UA-cam. It's officially called Tusk (USC Intro Mix) if you can find it.
I like most Fleetwood Mac songs but Second Hand News is my favorite. It gets overshadowed by Go Your Own Way and a few others, which overall are probably better songs, but I still love Second Hand News.
@@SilentHunter245 Yeah I put it in my top 5 Fleetwood Mac songs. Most of them are with Linsey Buckingham at lead vocals. I thought he was amazing at writing and performing his songs. And he was their producer of their master tapes.
My absolute favorite Fleetwood Mac song! I was 9 years old when this came out, I have listened to it at least once a week ever since. The entire album is brilliant!
The whole album Rumours is genius. All the songs lead into each other so the best way to really get it, is to put some time aside, slip on some headphones, sit back and enjoy. Trust me. You will not regret it.
No one ever seems to want to react to Christine’s songs. Probably my favorite songwriter of the group. I would suggest, from the classic Rumours album, “You make lovin fun” and, my favorite, “Songbird”.
this is my favourite song of theirs. if you want to get a completely different look at them, check out Tusk. Fun song, but just a completely different kind of song.
There's a reason that, before Thriller and Bad, this was the best-selling album of all time. Three fabulous songwriters at the top of their game. Tons of emotional tension. And a scandalously underrated rhythm section. It's hard to go wrong with anything off this (or its predecessor, Fleetwood Mac). If you're looking for more, You Make Loving Fun is a great Christine McVie showcase.
Every song on this album is a hit IMO it's in my top 5 of all time I rank it right up there with dark side of the Moon by Floyd and Boston's 1st album. Every body always talks about how great Stevie Nicks is and she is but Christy McVie is just as great her song "Song bird" brings me to tears nearly every time I hear it ✌️♥️

Great reaction - nice to see a new generation discovering Fleetwood Mac. Adding my vote for Gold Dust Woman, which may be my favorite song from Rumours. The album cut is perfect, but Stevie Nicks also did a great 8 minute live version with several of the band members (ua-cam.com/video/lXrb0DU4ko4/v-deo.html). Rhiannon, Landslide and Silver Springs are all incredible as well. And you might want to check out Stevie Nicks’ duet with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stop Dragging My Heart Around.
OMG that sounds so damn good. I was lucky enough to have lived my youth in the 70's. Saw them in concert twice in Kansas City. This was an amazing album and I still cherish it to this day. LOVE Fleetwood Mac. Thank you for taking good music like this and showing others what it is. Not all young people today have heard this music so thank you for bringing it to a much younger crowd who otherwise would probably never hear it.
This song rates up there as one of their best songs. Enjoyed your reaction. A suggestion, Fleetwood Mac - Rhianna Live on the midnight special 1976. The live version is excellent!!
Great reaction! As you said, this band is so versatile with their sound, yet all of their songs are distinctively Fleetwood Mac - it’s a unique sound. Tusk, Rhihana, Landslide, Gold Dust Woman- they have so many phenomenal songs.
The same exact reaction I had when I first heard this song went it on the radio back in the day it came out! :) Being used to FM as a blues group, Buckingham and Nicks really brought them to a different level!
The crazy thing is that this song came off the same ALBUM as "The Chain" and "Dreams." "Never Going Home Again" is on the same album, and feels different. The Buckingham-era Fleetwood Mac song that I feel gets slept on is "I'm So Afraid." Got some of the hardest-rocking guitar work Lindsey ever did on it. I also like "Big Love" from their 80's period. Pre-Buckingham/Nicks joining, they had a few cool songs like "Albatross," but they were a much different, bluesier band back then. They really changed a lot over the years, and that eclecticism is one of the things that makes them so great, I think.
You got it 100% right - Fleetwood Mac are one of those bands who take you on a journey through their career as they explore music, through all kinds of sounds and genres, techniques and styles, yet always with certain hallmarks. Every album was opening up a whole new vista in their journey through all the possibilities of music, and they took us with them. But you already know what is the hallmark part, even after just a few songs - their ear for the completeness of the track. They have a way of filling, balancing, making an incredibly rich and deep sound, of every track they do, in a way few other bands can. Think of how, in 'The Chain', so much of the song wasn't just in the sounds, but in the pace, the tempo, and even the pauses, and how they played with the tempo of all the different sections to lift you up, carry you along, put you back down to see what was around you, then carry you again. This track, 'Go Your Own Way', has a more solid sense of impetus all through, a driving force with velocity, yet so richly textured and layered. The emotion was also powerful (the song was written by one of the band breaking up from another, and performed by both). One of my all-time favourites of theirs is "Everywhere", which is hauntingly beautiful, and again, different to anything else, taking us on another part of their incredible journey of exploring all the different styles of music they wanted to share.
According to Wikipedia, certified twice diamond , 20 million copies and sold 45 million worldwide. Also have read that it was certified platinum 29 times in the US. I have purchased three copies , the original release, a half speed master copy and then on CD.
For something different again try "Big Love", the guitar work is immense and "Tusk" , think you might be struggling for your favourite one then. But most of Fleetwood Mac is just great.
The genius of Lindsey Buckingham. He's the lead singer and guitar on Go Your Own Way AND The Chain , and he's the producer/arranger most repsonsible for the the band's sound, and the fact that they have (as you stated in your reaction) a variety of sounds. The Mac had three songwriters in the Rumours era lineup, but even with Christine's and Stevie's songs, Lindsey took their raw songs and added the counter melodies, the chord progressions, harmonies, and all the little nuances you're digging. Add to that, John's cool bass lines and Mick's superb drumming and well, there ya go.
Even though I knew and liked them before, watching the video of The Dance was what made me absolutely fall in love with them. Loved the marching band with Don't Stop and Tusk and it has my favorite version of Landslide.
You’ll never be disappointed with Fleetwood Mac. Go ahead with any of their songs! They had such a balanced talent throughout the band. If you’d like, check out some deeper tracks, like “storms”, “ tango in the night”, “silver springs “, “seven wonders”, second hand news “. Anything really. Love your energy. Love the way you listen! Thank you James!
Given that Rumours has just re entered the top 10 selling albums of all time, you should definitely check out Gold Dust Woman, Don't Stop, You Make Loving Fun. Cheers

Stevie Nicks' vocals in "Silver Springs" make this song some of Fleetwood Mac fan's favorite song of all. The way she bends her voice singing the word "me" almost makes it sound like she is singing two notes at once.
Unquestionably, among the best bands EVER assembled! And right, there is a Mac essence to their songs, but with the diversity of vocalist and instrumentalists, no two songs sound the same.
English band who brought us several great guitar slingers . This was the first single that featured 2 American members . One was the legendary STEVIE NICKS .
You need to take a dive into the origin of progressive rock with The Moody Blues... Start with Tuesday Afternoon and Nights in White Satin (extended version). Then move on to Ride My Seesaw, The Word/Om, Higher and Higher, Procession/The Story in Your Eyes, The Voice, and Question.... These are just appetizers... The banquet is laid out deep down the rabbit hole as you will discover... Enjoy the journey my friend!!
young sir...everything on the Rumours album is nothing less than perfect
Marianne Cormier, you are so right!
These songs were inescapable for about none months
Their self titled album is a work of art as well.
Imagine if they hadn't left Silver Springs off the album!
a masterpiece indeed
It amazes me to see so many young people reacting to 60s and 70s music. It made me realize how, growing up, I took so much of this stuff for granted.
Same for the 90's.
Right . I was born in 1970 , only child of a rocker mom. So I grew up on a lot of incredible music. Sounds like you did too.

Your Fleetwood Mac journey needs to include every.single.song on this album
Might possibly be THE greatest rock album of all time
Including Silver Springs (recorded during the Rumours sessions but inexplicably left off the final track listing).
The album went back in the top 10 or was last week I think
it really is a great album. The whole thing. Very rare there isn't a dog on an album but this one is perfect.
Yes! The 1970s was a *terrific* decade for the rock music genre.

The whole album are a series of breakup and stay together songs. This was Lindsey singing about breaking up with Stevie. Christine and John McVie were going through a divorce and she was dating one of the lighting guys who worked with them. The chain was about them staying together as a band.
Cocaine is a terrible drug, but it was great for music
He should check out "Say You Love Me," the song Christine McVie wrote about dating the lighting guy. It's full of light references.
@@davewildermuth7519 I believe You Make Loving Fun is also about Christine McVie's fling/affair with the lighting guy.
Yes two break ups in one band is musically productive. ABBA found this out too
Let's not forget Stevie Nicks' affair with Mick Fleetwood that caused the breakup between her and Lindsey Buckingham.
3 singer/song writers, and a great collaboration despite relationship issues. Often, out of great suffering comes great art.
If you haven't checked it out yet, a MUST is Fleetwood Mac 'Rhiannon' live in 1976. Stevie Nicks blows the roof off.

Mick and John thumping along, banging, Lindsey ringing like a bell, underrated, for real. Stellar!
"Dont Stop" ... thinking about tomorrow♫♪ - also a great song off of this album.
Gold dust woman my good sir
The emotional dynamics between these people were intense, but made it made for some of the best music ever made.
Go Your Own Way, is without a doubt, my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. Little Lies is the song that them to my attention back in the '80's.
Never Going Back Again, Second Hand News, and Big Love are incredible as well
