Barry hated the fact that all people remember them by is the disco stuff and that is such a tiny percentage of the amazing talent that they were. I think some of the best music was in the 60s. They are amazing.
I promise you that you will not come across a terrible Bee Gees song. They’re all incredible they didn’t make bad songs. Too Much Heaven seems the natural progression for you but you can pick from any.
I agree with you, listening to the Bee Gees always brightens my day. It doesn't matter how stress filled or how bad the day has been, listing to the Bee Gees just takes the stress away and puts a smile on your face. I have no idea why but it's true.
Them and the Beatles the only ones to do it......the Beatles also wrote for other artists that were in the top ten........the 2 best writing groups in history
@@chuckdunton7956 yeah and Andy had 2 in there as well. It was crazy. No one would even put them on the radio in the early 70s because the sound was changing so they put out jive talking without their name on it and sent to the DJs and the reaction was crazy . People couldn't believe it was the Bee Gees. They could change with the times without being fake, they just picked up the vibe and made their magic. So glad to see them getting love from a new generation after the disco haters turned on them. They kept writing though. Saturday Night Fever would have never made the money it made without the Brothers Gibb writing all that amazing music. If you want to have a party, that soundtrack never disappoints. This song ended the film and it was fucking perfect. I wasn't old enough to see it but I snuck in and I just wanted to me in love like that.
@@alisonwonderlandof1 The funny part: 6 of the 16 tracks were Bee Gees' but those songs had already been released before the movie went into production.
@@otisyoung7061 Are you sure about that? I thought the Bee Gees had the record for the most songs on the top 10 list? At least that’s what I’ve always heard or read about, That they held the record.
I love the video version on utube that shows the intro of John Trovolta walking the streets to the beat...when he's getting the can of paint. The official video is just too boring for me.
Bee Gees are responsible for a lot of people being conceived. Not only did they help usher disco, but they helped generations heal from the Vietnam Era. People were lighting up dance floors, slow dancing, roller skating, it was all good, and these dudes were at the center of it.
NICE! The man singing the lead, Barry Gibb, is the only surviving member of the group. He is now 74 with 5 'adult' kids ... 3 grands ... married for 50 years.
Their music pre- and post- disco is definitely worth listening to. Try their stuff from the 60s and early 70s, like How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, Words, Fanny Be Tender, Massachusetts, I've Gotta Get a Message to You, I Started a Joke, Lonely Days...Then the 80s and after....You Win Again, Alone,...
The were the #1 group though the disco era but when the disco rejection happened and everyone said they hated the Bee Gees, they just kept writing songs and letting other artists do them. A full 80% of the best hits after the disco era were still written by the Bee Gees. Great music out lives the critics!
You know that feeling you are getting? You know what that is? Its the magic of the 1970's feel...the feel of disco all around you. Its a wonderful and good feeling. Its the magic of the Bee Gees. I know what you feel sir.
❤❤❤ this favorite Bee Gee's slow song, followed by "More than a Woman". You're not alone James in how their music makes you feel. I was 12 when Saturday Night Fever movie came out and the Soundtrack album released in 1977, everybody seemed to be flipped out in love with The Bee Gees❣My family was a big fan. At our family parties, my two cousins wld mimic the dances of Tony Minero and Stephanie Magano from S.N.F. movie 🤩🕺💃. Make sure to listen to the soundtrack, the entire dble album set is great!
Great song! In the 70’s, these guys were kings in the disco world, but that came with a very high price for them. It took time for them to regain popularity as their name & music had reached saturation (their words in interviews, not mine). They spent time writing & producing for many other artists until they felt that they could “reinvent” themselves. The music they came up with, in my opinion, is some of their best! It’s a deep, but wonderful rabbit hole & you will never be disappointed!
They wrote great music. To Much Heaven, Words, Love You Inside and Out, Nights on Broadway, Tragedy, How Do You Mend A Brocken Heart. The list goes on. Great reactions!!!
They make you feel good because they are so smooth and easy. You just get pulled along with them. And you can grab your lady and just glide across the floor with her! As a lady, I can tell you it is a great song to just dance to with a special someone!🥰
The brothers harmonize so technically perfect, you would think that this was one guy, one voice, laying down multiple tracks to achieve the result. But yet we are privileged to have witnessed God given, natural talent. At 70 I still love music from the old days. Please give a listen to The Righteous Brothers, Karen Carpenter etc. to hear unique voices that come along once in a lifetime. Some music has a profound impact, bringing tears of joy. Born close to the bootheel of Missouri, I grew up with Rock'n'roll, Delta Blues, Rock, Rockabilly and gospel music and the classical works. Me and my young teen children were lucky enough to be in Memphis, TN in 2004 for the 50th anniversary of Rock and Roll. What memories!
Thanks!!! No, you aren't the only one who feels their songs make you feel great! They were one of the best songwriting groups (and singing groups!) for many decades. Look up some day all the songs they wrote, hundreds and many were hits for other big singers. Talented, talented guys. I loved them and happy to seen younger people (I'm 70!) reactting to them. Again, thanks. And take care.
I absolutely LOVE The Bee Gees my top 5 of their songs are 1) more than a woman 2) how deep is your love 3) wedding day 4) tragedy 5) jive talking/ too much heaven

I love, love and love the Bee Gees. Their song Too Much Heaven is amazing, their harmonizing is amazing as in this song. Thank you so much for the vid...
They did this album for the movie Saturday night fever which is also the main song same as the movie. Never a bad song from them. Loved the guys since I was a kid.
Best one, with all four brothers ( including the youngest, Andy ) is You Should Be Dancing. Unbelieveable. I guess it's the live version. Scenes from the John Travolta movie Saturday Night Fever in the background. The best. And the BJs are real brothers so that great harmony is something they've perfected after all the years growing up together. And brothers have a similar quality of voice.
their harmonies are always on point....others to listen to- tragedy, night fever, Stayin' Alive, Nights on Broadway mega hits you gotta feel! if youre looking for an album thats nothing but hits, then listen to saturday night fever movie soundtrack
For years I thought this was a Take That song. They sing it amazing too but there is nothing like Barry's sweet vocals singing in the background. I recommend Too Much Heaven by the Bee Gees!
You are NOT wrong! I've loved the Bee Gees for many years. I loved them then and I love them now although it breaks my heart that Robin and Maurice are gone now. But at 74 Barry is still writing, producing and touring!! Gotta love that man!! They've been there for me through a lot of stuff. No matter how bad it gets, I can put them on and be at ease. Their voices are like warm honey.

You probably heard "Stayin Alive"? That song is a good one--defines the Disco era. They wrote the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, and man oh man, those movie scenes with this music is so cool. I agree; they are amazing singers, and Barry (the lead singer) is a great song writer. He has written hits for so many other artists. I watched a documentary on them on UA-cam awhile back, and they grew up singing together. The falsetto didn't really come in to play until the Disco era when they did the Saturday Night Fever track. Then that became their signature sound. They sang together their whole lives from childhood on, so they harmonize so well together.
The LOVE group. Three brothers of soul. Barry Gibb, the eldest, leading here. The two shorties, Robin, bare faced & Maurice (Morris) with the beard are twins. Try 'Too Much Heaven', Jive Talkin', & 'Fanny be tender with my Love'.
I love how effortlessly Barry can move between his natural register and his falsetto. The Bee Gees were just magic.
Bee Gees never made a bad song. And I agree with you, listening to their music just puts you in a good mood. Thank you James.
My sentiments exactly!
They never made a bad song some are just better than others
100% true
Their music is just so good thst it is uplifting
The kings of Disco, you could not go in a club and not hear them. They defined the Disco era.
They are much more than disco, before and after that era.
Plus Grease soundtrack,dominated the 70s
