- We had a day of rain and the pool temp dropped just below 80f, I like going in with the kids but I don't like cold water, turned on the old diy 80000btu convection heater and it warmed up the pool to 86f in around 2 hours. I love this thing! #modernhomestead #diy #diypoolheater #pool #poolhack #heater #redneckpoolheater
One of the better ideas I’ve seen!!!
Thank you very much sir…
I ordered my heater 😊
It works great, heat the pool up a lot in a day
What's the heater call
Mr. Heater Convection Heater
Love it dude!!
Thanks!!
Nice man. The pickup pump is a good idea that way it’s not hard plumbed into the system.
Brilliant. Yeah Brass and Silicone hoses are definitely the way to go ; P
Great idea
Thanks
Awesome!!
Thanks!
I love it.I seen your other video. With the propane shower Worth it?? I'm just about ready one What's your advice what size shower heater Love your videos
Oh it definitely worth it, i have the 6L and 10L models, they both work great, I don't run out of hot water
Nice man
Thanks!
Looks like a nice system you have, unfortunately my wife doesn't like smoke otherwise I'd give it a try.
I'm leaning towards a solar system with a solar powered pump. No wood or added electric bill and pretty much maintenance free.
Looks like it works for you though and that's all that matters.
There no s'more with this, it runs on propane
Smoke
@@modernhomesteadfarm yeah I knew what you meant , how much propane you burn a week to get pool up to temp / maintain? Cause I might go your route if it isn't to Costly.
Question can you just do away with the ball valves and run the rubber hose to the copper line and use 2 ring clamps? Is the black hose the garden hose?
The valves adjust the tempature, slows. The water in the heater
Great idea, what was the copper coil you used? Wondering if flexible HVAC copper will work?
It's pretty much what I used 50ft of flexible 1/2
Great idea. I want to build one. Where did you get the parts? I've looked for the "convection" heater however can't find it anywhere
Mr Heater Makes one, the copper inside is flexible copper pipe from a plumbing store, the end are just 2 spigots
@@modernhomesteadfarmOh, I see what you did. Great Idea! What size tubing did you use?
What size tubing?
So you open up the heater and wrap the copper around it correct? I love this idea and want yo give it a shot... What if i can't get my hands on a convection heater that is 80k btu but only like a 40k
Use 25ft of flexible copper
@@modernhomesteadfarm I just found a guy selling wort chiller copper piping already rounded with inlet and outlets
@@modernhomesteadfarmdo you think 3/8 copper will be too small of a passage way
Also man could you tell me the heater model? I see 200k. Might be too hot. Want to be sure it’s tall enough for coil
this is the 80000 btu unit
Does it have to be copper tubing? Can stainless steel be just as effective?
Sure, if you have a pile of money to waste or you have some as scrap, but that stuff is expensive
What fittings did you use to connect the copper to your hoses?
It's just a hose bib
What side flexible copper 3/4?
This was 1/2
What kind of pump gph?
i was using a sump pump
What type of hose is this?
Inside the heater? It's a flexible copper pipe.
No, the hoses you have connected to the copper.
@@DakotaSwain-sp2vt it's either a half inch hours or 5/8 hose it won't make much of a difference make sure you shoot the copper out far enough from your heater or else the garden hose will melt
What was the max temp of the water?
I can make it come out as steam if I want.
@@modernhomesteadfarm I meant the pool. How hot were you able to get it, just 87 or so?
