  • Everything was going so well, and with 2 weeks left until my deadline I was on track to making it until this happened.
With the engine running it became obvious that something was wrong and I had to do something drastic...

Thanks. It's all part of the process and mistakes happen. My hope is that someone learns from my mistakes and avoids making the same ones I have. Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it.

Not the result we was all hoping for ,
Mike with time Alice will be wizzing around the roads soon .
Once you have the cam shaft sauced I’m shaw you will see results.
Keep going you are nearly there 👍🏻

    Gutted for you,
Things to consider, when the cam was in upside down was the bottom end still at tdc. I did this once and bent a valve as doing up the cam drove the valve straight into the piston as I was 180 out.
With reference to the low compression, did you check out the valves in no1? Gas can only escape out of either the ring area or the valves
It being super clean do you know if you were getting a solid spark in that cylinder? Or if you were getting fuel there, maybe a duff injector
Keep up the good work tho

Yes the bottom was at tdc... But the camshaft never got tightened down to the valves it broke way before I even got to the 20nm of torque needed. The camshafts don't actually take alot of bending before they snap as I found out 🙈🙈

Nice build! Did you forgot to drain the coolant before you remove the head? 🤭

How unfortunate. But, the teardown was necessary. Mistakes happen.

True. I should have done it before putting the engine in the car but it's easy to say that now, and it's done now so at least I know it's not going to be a problem in the future

Question, not criticism: is there any use to put new rings in without honing the cylinders? Can the rings brake in on a shiny cylinder wall?
